In the corner of the cavern sat an enormous overgrown nightmarish-looking rodent.

It looks like an overgrown squirrel with ash coloured skin, no fur and elongated limbs.

It's so tall that it barely fits in the fairly large cavern opening I'm in right now.

O- oh, this is easily the most dangerous creature I've encountered so far. I can't see it's level.

"GGGRRrrrrr…" (Sugar tooth)
The overgrown rodent began growling, causing the surroundings to tremble slightly.

It turned towards Julia and the idiot noble as it began casually approaching them.

"A- AAAH!! P- p- protect me s- slave!!" (Idiot noble)

Julia got into a battle stance and gripped the spear she was holding tight.
A subtle determination appeared on her face.
Though I'm probably the only one here that noticed.

(I-… I came all this way to s- save Julia, I'm not about to give up now!)

(SCARECROW DASH!!)
This is one of my new moves where I run really fast using my legs!

I sprint straight towards Julia.

Julia notices me sprinting towards her.

Her expression becomes subtly fearful again.

You're scared of me but not that terrifying enormous rodent?!

The idiot noble followed Julia's line of sight and also notices me.

His expression turned into a blatantly annoyed one mixed with fear.

I suddenly noticed a good dozen presences quickly approaching from the direction I came from for some reason.
Did Lucas get overrun by demons?

As I was noting the presences approaching, the idiot noble suddenly held out his hands towards me and shouted.

"P- PROJECTILE RAIN!" (Noble)

(A- AGAIN WHY ME?!)

A thick high-pressure stream of water shot towards me.

(SCARECROW DODGE!)

I dodge it effortlessly but-

The water makes the stone floor I was running on slippery.
I attempt to keep my balance but end up slipping and falling.

The sugar tooth jumps forward at the same time.

Julia raises her spear to grabs its attention.

"Wha- what the-" (Lucas)
Lucas arrives behind me out of breath.

Julia's body is stabbed by the enormous claw of the sugar tooth just as Lucas arrives.

(J- JULIA!!!)

"M-… MOTHER!!!" (Lucas)

(Hu- huh?)
For a second I thought Lucas was trying to upstage my emotional reaction, but it seems he just had a way more important character development than me.

"AAAAAA!!" (Lucas)
Lucas began screaming.

"INVINCIBLE TIME!!" (Lucas)
A bright light membrane surrounded Lucas as he dashed towards the sugar tooth, tears streaming from his face.

Before I even had time to observe him, he disappeared in the blink of an eye.

(H- he went Super Saiy*n!!)

I look back towards the sugar tooth that's retracted its claw and is now seemingly giddily looking at the teeth in Julia's mouth.

Lucas suddenly appears under its stomach as he hits the sugar tooth with all he's got.

The hit from Lucas sends shockwaves through the cave.

But the giant rodent was unfazed.

It swung its claws at Lucas, causing him to get flung against the wall from the impact.

Unperturbed, the sugar tooth turned back to Julia's body and moved its gangly elongated claws towards her mouth.

(Guess it's now or never…)
In times like these, I should rely on my tried and trusted overpowered abilities.

A lot more information came up as I'd hoped of observation level 3.

But… l- level 194. Th- that's ridiculous
Let's not lose hope. I can do this! I think…
That's more or less just 3 times the level of that elder stump!

Eat this! A high output mental attack!

I'll play it safe and go for a nice large round number whilst I'm at it and keep the range as small as possible.

(GET AWAY YOU DAMNED OVERGROWN SQUIRREL!!!)

The sugar tooth's head jerks up as it quickly backs away and focuses its attention on me.

(Surprise asshole.)
D- damn, it wasn't enough to make it run away.

Oh! I had completely forgotten my mental ability didn't level up this whole time.
Why did it level up now?

I also hit the idiot noble, who seems to have gotten knocked out and… shat himself.
Collateral damage.

Lucas and the fat bird should've also been hit, but I couldn't feel either of them getting hit for some reason.

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" (Sugar tooth)

A condensed murky purple fog quickly shoots out of the mouth of the sugar tooth and completely covers the area around me.

Satisfied with itself, the sugar tooth was about to turn its head back to Julia's corpse.

The poisonous smoke settles a bit, revealing me, still standing and perfectly fine though.

(Uuuh…)
I'm a scarecrow, so obviously I don't have lungs.
Poison doesn't work on me.

The sugar tooth looks back at me in surprise.

Please leave.
I step forward. Pretending to be menacing.

The enormous demon lowers its head and slowly backs up.

"Grrr…" (Sugar tooth)

It's working!

Suddenly, as the terrifying demon backs away, I remember the reason I put myself in peril in the first place.
J- Julia! What about Julia!

I turn towards her, only to find Lucas in his glowing membrane mode, kneeling down next to her.

Good, looks like Lucas is taking care of her.

Quickly, I turn back, only to find the enormous demon has disappeared completely.
It's presence- BEHIND ME?

(UGH!)
As I turn around, I see an enormous claw slice across me.

(?)
Did it miss?

The whole room begins rotating for some reason.

(Huh?)

Ah. My head fell to the floor.

Guess this is what I get for getting scatterbrained in the middle of battle. (PR: you don't have a brain though?) 

So this is how my other world life ends…

I've had a pretty good run I guess.
Could've done without the faucet chapter though.

This time I'd like to reincarnate into an overpowered harem type fantasy world, please.

Seems I'm not dead though.

I can still feel my body and everything. What an odd sensation this is.

The sugar tooth tentatively poked my headless body with one of its claws, attempting to confirm my death.
A piece of my head is stuck to its claw.

Despite my dismemberment, wood magic activates effortlessly, causing my headless body to move as I grab the claw with my hand.

I watch all of this transpire from the floor as I'm looking up at my body.

If I'm frugal here, I'm seriously going to die.
Let's give this guy one last good push so he'll give up on cutting any of my other limbs off and desecrating Julia's body.

I'm feeling confident after mental's level up.

(LEAVE.)

That was way more intense than I was expecting.

I can feel the floor shaking and splitting beneath me.
A- and the sugar tooth is shaking?!
This demon is easily 20 times my level… just how ridiculous has my mental ability become?!

"grrr…" (Sugar tooth)

With its ears lowered, the sugar tooth shrunk its posture and tucked its tail between its legs as it ran away through the entrance Lucas and me came out of.

My body picks up my head and holds it between one of my arms.

(Mmm. Nearly died there. Looks like I managed to survive again somehow.)

I turn towards Lucas to check up on Julia.

When I tried to approach them, Lucas moved his head slightly to the side, giving me the side-eye.

Lucas gets up and readies his spear.

He points it towards me.

Eh?

Lucas is wearing an expression that can only be described as grief, anger, fear and determination all mixed into one.

Ah- he's completely lost it…

He looks like a protagonist that's ready to defeat the demon lord that just killed his comrades.
