Oh! The skeletons look like they're gathering as Julia approaches their encampment!

I've got a birdseye view of the situation.

There are hundreds of skeletons standing at the entrance of a camp nuzzled in between a rock formation.

I better get down there before she gets herself killed... those things seemed abnormally strong when I last encountered them!

As I began my descend, I became witness to a strange scene though...

All the skeletons began throwing their hands up in the air and cheering upon Julia's arrival at the camp.

When I got close enough, my magic speech ability finally began to translate the clattering of the hundreds of bones.

"Queen!" (Skeleton architects)

"Our queen has returned!" (Skeleton architects)

"I love you!!!" (Random architect skeleton)

...

Julia hurriedly arrived infront of the skelethon hoard and seemed to be explaining something to them.
She suddenly looked up towards me. Seemingly using her skull to point at me due to the absence of her arms.

I halted my descend when all the skeletons below suddenly looked up at me simultaneously.

S- scary...

The skeletons all just kept peering up at me.

Feeling a bit frustrated, I decided to continue descending anyway.
It feels like I've dedicated a large amount of my life chasing after Julia since coming to this other world.

As if I'm about to give up now...

"Sniffles, when we land, run as far away as you can..." (Scarecrow)
Sniffles gave me a dissatisfied snort in response, I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean though. Was that a no?

I gently landed a reasonable distance away from the entrance of the camp and let Sniffles climb off of my back.

Instead of running away, he seemed determined to shield me from danger instead.

Thinking about it now, what do I even want from Julia at this point? Is it even worth risking getting killed here?

Previously I was searching for her to save her from slavery... but what about now?

Does she even remember me at all? Is she aware that she saved my life when I had no means to defend myself?

As I slowly approached the camp, all sorts of questions and doubts filled my mind.

When I got close enough, the skeletons seemed to clasp their weapons in preparation to attack.

But before they did anything, one of the skeletons that seemed to have the mannerisms and body language of an old man held up his hand, signaling them to stand down.

...Why is there an old skeleton.

His status wasn't any different from all the other skeletons, it just said architect and nothing else.

"Visitor. Let me see your face up close..." (Old man skeleton)

I carefully continued to approach the base.

The old skeleton began to scan my face when I got close enough.

"As I suspected... the time of reckoning is finally upon us." (Old man skeleton)
It was hard to tell, but a look of enlightenment seemed to dawn on his skull as he came to some sort of conclusion.

"My brethren... the harbinger of the end has arrived." (Old man skeleton)
He spoke some words that I frankly didn't want to hear.

Great. A cult.

All the skeletons seemed shaken to their core.
One by one the entire population of skeletons that had gathered at the entrance all began to bow down towards me.

Doctor Sniffles sat down and began panting and wagging his tail.

All of them bowed except for Julia.

"W- what? No!" (Julia)

"My queen, all things must come to an end. It's what gives life meaning." (Old man skeleton)

"We have been waiting for you." (Old man skeleton)

I suppose this is better than being one-sidedly assaulted by them at least.

"You! What are you!" (Julia)

O- oh... w- what should I say... my first conversation with Julia...

"I- I'm nice crow, s- scare to meet you." (Scarecrow)

SHIT-

Julia cocked her head in confusion.

"Th- thank you. Thank you for saving my life." (Scarecrow)

"...?" (Julia)

"..." (Scacrecrow)

"You saved my life whilst you were enslaved..." (Scarecrow)

"Huh?"(Julia)

Sigh... I had already suspected as much, but it doesn't look like slavery magic lets you retain any memories.

She has absolutely no clue who I am, does she?

"..." (Julia)

"Mister wolf... are you his master?" (Julia)

Huh? Mister wolf-...
I looked down to where Julia was looking at Doctor Sniffles.

Sniffles looked at me and tilted his head.

"Ah... I guess so?" (Scarecrow)
I did name him and he seems pretty attached to me at this point, so I suppose you could say that?

"..." (Julia)

"Mister wolf... he healed me when I was imprisoned by those monsters..." (Julia)

"So whatever debt you think you owe me... y- you can consider it repaid!" (Julia)

"Huh?!" (Scarecrow)

Why does she seem so keen to cut ties with me?

...Well, this is no different from how girls used to act towards me I suppose.
How nostalgic. It's been a while since I've reminisced on my old life...

"J- Julia I-" (Scarecrow)
I tried to come closer but that just seemed to scare Julia further.

She stepped back and blurted out in fear.
"St- stay away!!" (Julia)

"Why?!" (Scarecrow)

"S- SCARY! YOU'RE SCARY! OK?!" (Julia)

Scary? I'm not-... I'm just your friendly neighborhood potion seller...

"Scarecrows aren't supposed to move!! S- stay away from me g- g- ghost!!!" (Julia)

Huh?!

I continued to approach, but that just prompted Julia to run further into the camp to hide somewhere.

"My queen!" (Random skeleton architects)

"Queen!" (Random skeleton architects)
A bunch of skeletons proudly greeted her as she clumsily ran away.

Ah...

What the hell...

Julia, you're way scarier surrounded by all those skeletons...

"Ho ho ho... my apologies harbinger of the end." (Old man skeleton)

"What a cruel trick fate appears to have played on you to make our queen so deathly afraid you." (Old man skeleton)

Mmm. Yeah. Shut up.

"Harbinger, please come inside. We have much to explain." (Old man skeleton)
