Chapter 399

In the dark sky where Demons and monsters could freely go around, a mighty golden eagle drifted with no fear. The eagle was a courier that had dozens of people on top of it. 

Despite being a lonely flying creature that didn't look frightening, the monsters and Demons didn't dare to attack the eagle. Because they knew that they would die if they try to block the eagle. 

On top of the eagle wondered the ferocious people called Beastmen. They consisted of Knights and Elders that currently protecting the King, King Shenten. 

The Draconian King was watching down, looking at the destroyed buildings and lingering corruption. Despite having a frigid expression, it was obvious that King Shenten didn't like the scent of corruption. 

It was fortunate that there was a cure for corruption. Even King Shenten had a problem with this corruption because of the Wishing Orb. Thankfully, King Shenten was cured and the act of losing his mind completely vanished. 

He looked ahead, they were traveling for almost three hours now. They met some foolish creatures that dared to block their way but the Knights and Elders finished them without a hassle. 

"Your Majesty, we are getting close."

Captain James kneeled, next to him was Kalman who was acting as the vanguard of this travel. Kalman emitted a transparent barrier to protect the giant eagle. His defensive ability was on top of the line. 

"Un."

King Shenten nodded. Just like always, he didn't speak much. 

However, both Captain James and Kalman understood what he was saying by that simple action. They turned around and commanded the Knights and Elders to get ready. 

They immediately prepared themselves before a powerful flash of light obstructed them. A Demon appeared, he had a pair of bat wings behind him. 

"Guhaha!! At last, I found a worthy opponent!! Come, let's fight!!"

Demons were known for being savage and unrestricted, they would do horrible things no matter what. This Demon looked strong, probably a Count at least. 

The Demon was grinning, waiting for the Beastmen to attack. Yet the smile on his face turned stiff when he found that his body slowly turned into a stone. He was petrified without knowing.

"W- what is happening to me!!? Answer me, you filthy beast!!"

The Demons realized that he lost control over his legs and even his wings slowly became inflexible like a rock. 

"Y- you!!"

Before the Demon could even attack them, his body crumbled and fell to the bottom. 

King Shenten yawned. Unlike his father who had the power to optimize his physical ability, King Shenten inherited a unique Skill from their predecessors, the Dragons. King Shenten didn't need to wound an enemy to petrify it anymore. 

Instead, he created a curse using the Wishing Orb and Ancient Dragon Heart. If a creature that King Shenten deemed as an enemy looked into his eyes, it would turn into a stone. 

"Let's go."

Captain James announced and the eagle began flying in the sky. 

Kalman looked at the once city of Manila and he sighed. He visited this place once and it was a great place, aside from the traffic of course. 

"It's sad that this capital has turned into a wasteland in just a few months."

Manila lost its vibrant, no building could be seen standing, except for corrupted vagrants and some monsters. The city became a wasteland. This place didn't have the strength to defend itself against the invasion. That's why from now on, the new capital of the Philippines was none other than Cavite. 

In fact, it was the only safe place in the country where people could freely walk without the fear of dying because the Saintess was watching over them and protecting them. It was said that if you pray for the Saintess every day, her healing would always be there to protect you from any harm, which was true. 

Andromeda could heal a person dozens of kilometers away from her because of her wide range healing. The only way she could maintain the spell continuously was because of her passive Skill where she could absorb an amount of mana and energy from the people she heal. Andromeda became their savior and they were ready to sacrifice their lives to protect her. As long as the Saintess was alive, the land would be safe.

Kalman couldn't believe that the planet that they were living on was slowly dying. He looked at the never-ending darkness, he didn't see the sun for over a half year now. 

The war was still ongoing and some countries already lost their will to fight and let the Demons reign over them. The Hunters and people let go of their humanity and succumbed to corruption. 

Yet not all of them successfully became Demons, some died while most became mindless Demons. Only a few became full-fledged Demons, the worst was that they were at the bottom of the food chain and their lives were not secured either. 

"There."

A few minutes later, they found the silhouette of the province. Unlike the other cities, the province of Cavite still had towering buildings standing. Even the atmosphere was much better compared to others. 

The Beastmen decided to walk right here so that they won't alarm the people. This place was safe anyway and they didn't need to use the eagle anymore. 

Actually, they could use the Teleportation Portal to travel quickly since they already knew the location of the meeting. However, because of the usual behavior of the Beastmen, no one even dared to step closer to the machine. All of them hated the Teleportation Portal, and every strand in their skins stood up. 

They fucking hate it. 

On top of that, King Shenten didn't like the technology so he even commanded his Knights to destroy the poor machine. That's why they settled on using a tame monster as transportation instead.
