A Dream Foretold.

Prologue Arc (2) – Letters to Me.

A month had passed since both of our declarations, the situation inside the household had changed drastically after Alice’s interventions; the servants, no longer treat me lower than them and the food situation had increasingly gotten better.

“I am bored…” I mumbled whilst placing the book on my hand to the table, looking out to the window as the trees, covered in thick snow wave around, the tiny flakes of snow make their way down to land, and the melody of the wind echoes.

“How about taking a nap, for once, my lady?” a voice whispered into my ear as I turned my eyes towards the lady who was standing beside me, a pink-haired lady whose beauty was not inferior to any noblewoman despite being dressed in a maid suit.

“I already took a thousand naps, how many more should I take?” I argued before a sigh left her mouth as she placed her hand on my head, rubbing it by the threads of my hair as she whispered into my ear with a teasing voice, “A child should take a billion naps a day, otherwise they won’t grow.”

My eyebrows twitched upon hearing her teasing words, my hands felt like smacking someone in the face as hard as it could, yet I couldn’t do such things. It felt irritating to see the smirk on her face, the grin that she shows every time she teases me.

“My lady is truly kind, to endure smacking me in the face despite the painful temptation to do so,” the maid, Anathasia grinned before my foot moved by itself, stomping her left foot as hard as it could as I stood up with an irritated frown on my face.

“You truly are annoying,” I said before she chuckled as I took my foot away from hers before walking away whilst waving my hand as I ordered to her, “I’ll head to the library, for now, please check on the kitchen if there are any sweets ready and if so, please bring some to me.”

“As you wish, my lady,” her voice echoed within the room as I nodded in satisfaction before walking out of the room as I made my way through the noble hallways on my path to one of the places that calm me down, the library.

The hallways of the residence were always clean, the windows shine as one would except whilst the red carpets placed have not one speck of dust on them. It was as one would expect from a noble residence, that of a high-ranking one.

Though despite the cleanliness of the residence, there was one thing missing all the time and that was the person who should be my Father, who I also have no memories of other than his jade eyes which were unique to the household.

“I wonder where he is…” I mumbled before arriving before a wooden door with lily engravings all over its sides, beside the wooden door was a blonde butler with beautiful blue eyes that were as if crystals, standing as if he was waiting for my arrival.

“Good noon, my lady… do you wish to read the same book again?” the butler asked as I shook my head, replying to the butler, “I’ll go find another book to read this time, thanks for the offer,” before opening the door as a large spiral library appeared before me.

“Speaking of which, what was your name again… and how long have you been on the household?” I asked the butler before he suddenly flinched for a second as if surprised by my sudden question but as expected of a butler, he quickly regained his composure.

“I am Sebastian, and have been on the household for five years, my lady,” the butler replied before I nodded whilst walking inside the spiral library filled with all kinds of books from old, dusty ones to new leather books.

“Please tell me if anyone arrives, I will be at my usual spot,” I said before he bowed down and closed the door as I walked further into the spiral library, looking through the dozens of archives from the basics of Magic to simple Romance stories, the library has all of them.

There was no lack of books in this place, the amount of books here was abundant enough that even the librarians who used to serve the household surrendered within a week after not being able to handle the amount of books around here.

Apparently, half of the books stored here are considered either national treasures or historical relics as the authors, the creation date, etc. dated back to ancient times, there are even records of the true history of the Dahlia family and true records of the twin Goddesses from what I heard.

“It’s strange how this place has lax security despite containing a lot of national treasures,” I mumbled before walking over to one of the ends of the spiral library and sitting on the floor beside a wooden chair.

The floor was cold, yet I didn’t hate it… it felt calming, it was as if the entire library was breathing, simply sitting on the floor allowed me to feel the entire library, relax and free all my emotions; almost like meditation.

“I wonder what book should I read this time,” I said to myself whilst looking at the several dozens of romance books that were placed behind me, most of the books behind me were short love stories about a hundred pages at maximum.

“You should pick this one,” a familiar voice whispered from behind as I turned around before a beautiful black-haired lady with jade pink eyes appeared, smiling as she held a silver tray filled with plates of cookies and chocolate cake.

“Tadah! Are you surprised to see me?” she said with a bright smile, I was surprised… speechless, my eyes wandered to the butler who had a bright smirk on his face as he waited by the door. It seems like I have been betrayed by my servants once more.

“Of course, I am surprised… shouldn’t you be on an expedition right now?” I replied before she sat down beside me, not minding her blue dress from being dirtied, resting her head on my shoulders as she responded with a light voice, “The expedition was finished earlier than we expected.”

“Is that so, what was the results?” I asked while taking the book she suggested, placing my hand on the cover as I closed my eyes. It was one of my traditions to feel the book before reading it, and it greatly helped me understand the book.

“The perpetrator somehow escaped, according to the witnesses, the perpetrator was a blue-haired lady who could apparently use both fire and water magic,” Alice replied as I took my hand off the book cover before opening it.

“A dual-element magician who can vanish out of nowhere, that seems complicated,” I said whilst slowly moving to the next page of the book where the table of contents could be seen, the book’s title was The Flower of Lilies.

According to the synopsis, the book is about a little girl who grew up with abusive parents, overcoming her fate and meeting her fated lover who was a girl of a similar situation as her, the book should be about their journey of overcoming fate from what I can understand.

“Mhm, it is complicated… anyways, do you want to continue your training today?” she asked whilst taking a cookie from one of the plates, taking a bite on it before splitting a piece and placing it before my mouth as I bit on it.

“We can delay my usual training in two days, aren’t you a little bit too masochistic? You should take more rests rather than focusing on my training,” I said before looking at her and smacking her head as a smile blossomed on her face.

“You have changed a lot within a month, Amelia… back then, you used to hate having me rest on your shoulders,” she said before embarrassment engulfed my spirit as I averted my attention from her.

“It’s because you are the only one who treated me the best in my worst times, the only person who has been with me since the start,” I replied with a soft voice as a soft giggle came from her mouth as the two of us rested by one another.

That wasn’t really the true reason, to be exact, my heart feels the safest whenever I am beside her… I don’t understand why, but I feel like I can trust her unconditionally unlike the others that surround me with fake intentions.

“I am happy to be the first, and the only person to have your trust,” she said before she asked in a soft yet exhausted voice, “Do you mind if I sleep on your lap for once?” taking me by surprise as I turned away my attention from the book and towards her who had an exhausted face.

My heart was as if stabbed by poison, her face contained exhaustion… it was pale, her eyes were clearly heavy… all these times, she must have been enduring.

“Why do you have to ask?” I said irritated before pushing her head down towards my lap as she chuckled before she answered with a soft voice, “Because I want to hear it directly from you,” before no sound responded as she soundlessly fell asleep on my lap.

Her figure was close to that of a kitten, a beautiful kitten; her lips were the same as always, her cheeks were a little chubbier than before but even then, she was still the same beautiful lady who once intruded into my lonely world.

“Goodnight, Alice,” I mumbled before combing her hair with my fingers as I continued reading the book soundlessly, my heart was truly in peace… it was surreal, like heaven. It was almost like that day… that day when she took me to see my mother’s grave.

“The moon was truly beautiful that day…” I mumbled.
