??? POV

'Hey, what happened? I don't remember anything!'

'. . . . .'

'Why aren't you answering?'

'. . . . .'

'Hey? Where are you?'

When I opened my eyes, I was in a white room, a patient's room. A nurse just went in for a check-up on my condition.

"Miss, where is this place?"

"You're in a hospital, wait just a moment, I will call the doctor."

". . . . ."

I waited patiently for 10-15 minutes, and finally, the doctor arrived.

"Do you have any recollection of what you did a few days ago?"

'Oh yeah! This girl cut her wrist and fainted! Just remembering the pain. Ugh, it's terrible! But that's strange!'

The girl looked at her bandaged wrist, expressionless.

She slowly opened her mouth and said━

"I don't. I don't remember."

'That really is strange! Even I don't remember. I remember the part when she cut her wrist and fainted but I don't know what happened before that.'

"Hm. . ."

The doctor seemed troubled. All of a sudden━

Bang*

My mother and father just went in abruptly, while the doctor left, reading the atmosphere. Usually, this is where they go crying, showing how relieved they are, but━

Slap*

My mother went near me and slapped my face.

"What were you thinking? Do you know how much your treatment costs?!"

Yes, this is my reality.

My head was ringing because of my mother's voice. All the yelling is making me sick.

The girl just stooped her head low with her usual expression. It was as if she was expecting that her parents would react like this.

Not even a hug. Not even a single word that could relieve some pain.

Just like that, I spent my days in the hospital.

'I wonder if I'm going to be sent to a mental hospital soon.'

"Haha. . ."

The thought of it made me laugh.

"Well, I guess with this, I can skip school and just stay in bed all day. Not bad at all."

'Does she usually talk to herself like this? I mean it's not strange but━'

She spread her arms as she flumped herself in the soft, comfy bed.

She was smiling from ear to ear. That's right. Once in a while, she would wholeheartedly smile even though she's alone in here.

Her parents rarely visit her.

'Although I'm still concerned about the fact that I can't remember some things, maybe things will clear up later on. Or I can just ask Naiko about it later on.'

That evening, the doctor was talking with the girl.

"Why did you do that to yourself? Any troubles with your friends? Family? Heart-broken?"

The girl was staring at the doctor with clear eyes and yet, it seemed like she was in a daze.

". . . . ."

"If you're comfortable with me, you can talk to me about your problems. I'll hear you out."

The girl closed her eyes.

". . . . ."

"!!"

The doctor caught her in time when she was about to fall off. She fell asleep.

The girl didn't know, that in the few days she was in the hospital, the doctor visited her at certain hours every day.

However, she wasn't the one he was talking to.

There was someone else.

'Hm? Hey, that doctor's calling for you again.'

'. . .Not me.'

'What? Don't you know him?'

'No, I don't.'

'Then who is he calling out to?'

'Indeed. I wonder which one of us he's calling out to.'

'Well, most certainly it's not me. I don't even know him.'

'. . .Same.'
