Ellie and Freya quickly made their way to the third-floor conference room. They found Nick, Ethan, and Tony inside, all smiling and talking amongst themselves with faces radiating happiness.
When they entered, Nick immediately walked toward Ellie. He took her hands, his eyes shining with relief. "They have withdrawn the case," he announced.
Ellie's tension dissolved into immediate joy. She threw her arms around Nick, hugging him tightly. Ethan, Freya, and Tony were momentarily surprised by the spontaneous, intimate display. As soon as they realized what they were doing, Nick and Ellie quickly pulled apart, both blushing furiously.
"How did it go?" Ellie asked, trying to regain her composure. "What did they say?"
"Yes, we want all the details!" Freya chimed in, equally eager.
Nick explained, "The CEO of Five Star Softwares clearly thought we were coming to the meeting to talk, negotiate, and pay off a settlement to make them withdraw the case."
Ethan continued the story. "But before we even started negotiations, we had already spoken to the company's founders and asked them to come to the meeting. The CEO clearly didn't expect that. He also definitely didn't expect that we had the original, twenty-year-old physical document with us."
"He was completely shocked," Nick added. "We told them straight up that if they didn't withdraw the case immediately, we would file a massive counter-case against them for fraud and tampering with a legal document."
Tony then jumped in. "But the founders—they were actually nice people. They didn't forget the help the VH Group gave them during their financial crisis. They intervened, and instead of a fight, they formalized a new agreement on the spot. It officially states that we don't have any issue with them, and the original agreement is still valid for five more years of free service."
"We won and got five years of free software," Ethan summarized with a grin.
"However," Nick said, his expression becoming serious again, "there is one thing we noticed. That CEO knew about the original twenty-year-old document. He was visibly shocked when we presented the physical copy. It seems he knew the document had been tampered with and was planning to act innocent. I feel like someone is definitely behind this entire setup."
"It has to be the MLM group CEO, Peter Paul," Ethan suggested. "He's been Dad's rival for years, and he clearly has a grudge against the company after being fired."
Nick nodded slowly. "We'll know for sure if we can get a hold of David."
Ellie and Freya were relieved the corporate crisis was over. Freya asked, "Did the parents know about this?"
"No," Nick confirmed. "Let them finish their vacation. It's over now; we can tell them later."
Ethan clapped his hands together. "We didn't give a proper welcome to our new Vice President, Tony. Why don't we give him a proper welcome with a celebratory dinner?"
Everyone agreed instantly, and they all left the office to go out for a well-deserved dinner.
