Just a heads-up, Salvos is no longer publically available on RoyalRoad. You can read it as a light novel here only on Amazon :)
Or you can listen to it on Audible instead!
Curious Beginnings by V.A. Lewis - Audiobook - Audible.com
Otherwise, thank you so much for reading so far!

Nah, she's just temporarily in another plane in the same universe. It'd be like trying to label Dante's Inferno as an isekai.
because Dante's Inferno is an isekai. he literally travels through a different plane.
@chaos-in-theory42 nah, a different plane is just another layer of existence on the same world. Like a 3 layer cake. You'd have to change locations in the same material plane, or go to another universe all together. Gotta jump from one cake to another. John Carter going from Earth to Mars is Isekai. Jesus cleaning up Hell, not Isekai.
@Daitengu
John Carter going from Earth to Mars is Isekai.
hot take i can get behind
Wikipedia says: Isekai (Japanese: 異世界, transl. "different world" or "otherworld") is a genre of light novels, manga, anime and video games that revolve around a normal person from Earth being displaced, transported to, reborn or otherwise trapped in a parallel universe, fantasy world, or virtual world, where they must adapt and/or assimilate into this new world, along with its new rules, cultures and philosophies.
So no. Not Isekai. If you want to count it as Isekai though, I don't really give a damn.
I‘d say no, because both realms are part of Nexeus (and I guess the same is true for the spirit plane).
Reverse isekai. But I wouldn't use the isekai tag since I think that would mislead people since they would expect something different.
Not even a reverse isekai. A reverse isekai would be someone magical going to Earth. There just aren't enough of those.
Anything is isekai if you think about it hard enough, I consider a kid from the boonies going to the city an isekai cause it's basically a different world lol, isekai itself as a genre is basically being thrown into a very unfamiliar setting. The recent trends that came from naoru, have the tropes of slave harems, bringing modern tech and methodology to a world with out them to their advantage, or and ORETUUUU, or kings road which gives the protag a huge advantage in the form of a cheat etc. Before those wave of tropes isekai that came in the naoru sphere of writers talking to each other, you had stuff like 12 kingdoms and inuyasha which are basically isekai, and a fair bit more opressive, etc.
So I guess you'd have to specify a bit further what you mean by is salvos and isekai. Because at its most base meaning any character getting thrown into a unfamiliar setting counts as that for me. Or if its a modern trending naoru influence isekai, in which I say system and stats and numberifcations of story elements shares some tropes and a lot of those web novels don't really have the main character having a great advantage, I guess i'd say it's closer to Grimgar in spectrum of that tropesphere compared to like isekai slave harem. Either way the only thing that matters is the execution of your chosen seetting/tropes/genre too which i say salvos is a shitton of fun.
12 Kingdoms, Magic Knight Rayearth, Fushigi Yuugi, yupppp.
Well, the netherworld and spirit plane are evidently realms of the same world, much like ygdrassil with middle earth, vanaheim, nifleheim, muspelheim and so on, isolated, but connected.
Travelling between these realms isn't considered going to another world, but simply moving to another layer/location of the current world.
You wouldn't call that one arc in HxH; where they went into a video game - an 'Isekai' arc.
Edit:
She is also virtually Immortal, so it is more of a waiting game. Enemies? Wait them out. That church is chasing after your heretical followers? f*ck'm you got thousands of years to make new ones. The only cause for urgency is her companion back home.
Not under the traditional definition, no.
Demon realm to mortal realm doesn't count.
Defining 'isekai' too wide.
Yes, of course.
