As Leo sprinted with all his strength towards the village, he realized that there were no other humans around his surroundings. Rather, there were some animals that seemed to not be very friendly. Leo could only ignore these animals since they chose to not rush in his direction with hostility. This made him content knowing that he chose a safe path.

Those animals were without a doubt, wild and unrestrained. However, Leo understood that as long as he did not approach them carelessly, there was at least a chance that they would ignore him and allow him to pass if he kept his distance as well.

Seeing so many recognizable animals, Leo felt that this place where he ended up might not be so bad. There were some cows as well as insects and even some wild cats. Though they were much larger than what he was used to seeing back on earth, the familiarity of them made Leo feel more tranquil.

If he could at least recognize some of the animal species where he was, it meant that the terrain would be similar to that of earth. This calmed his mind, because if he could make more and more connections, it would allow him to familiarize himself with this new area that he found himself in.

However, he then saw a big corpse up ahead. Leo was unable to recognize what exactly this was a corpse of, but curiosity got the best of him in this moment. This would be the very first thing that seemed extremely different from that of the planet he lived in. If he was able to examine it, he could find his own clues about this area.

With a dead corpse peaking his interest, Leo decided to head towards it to inspect the corpse. Since the corpse was so close to a village, Leo felt that nothing strange should happen. "This corpse must be here for a reason. For a desolated village to not take it back, it could either be lacking something, or it could have something unwanted."

As he got closer to the corpse, he realized that it was a bear like creature which looked even more savage. It was about ten yards tall, and it had something shining within its abdomen. The corpse was obviously from some type of bear tribe, but it also had a human type of body. Looking close by, Leo saw that its head was being eaten by a group of what could be considered a pack of wild deer.

Crouching behind the corpse, Leo looked at his surroundings closely as he watched these deer continue eating the head of this dead body. One of the deer looked at Leo before continuing to eat, proving to him that they would not attack him if he left them alone as well. This confused Leo, but at the same time, it made sense.

Right now, they were eating a massive head that was the same size as his whole body. So why would they enter a battle with him, when the wild deer already had more than enough to fill their stomachs?

"I wonder what could be shining from a dead corpse?" slowly drawing closer to the dead corpse now that he felt no danger, Leo realized that it was some type of card. In this moment, so many questions started to pop up in Leo's head as he went to grab the card. Since the wild deer left the corpse alone, Leo felt that the card could be dangerous, but curiosity got the best of him.

Picking up the card and looking at the image on it, Leo started to feel his hands shake violently. "Why was there a card in this corpse's abdomen, that looked exactly like the corpse? Better yet, how the hell does such a creature like this exist?"

Leo was very puzzled seeing this. However, he casually put the card he now obtained from the corpse into the pocket of his robe as he began to head towards the village. With time on his side, he could only continue heading towards the village and pray for the best-case scenario.

Now that he had finally made it past this pack of deer, no other potential dangers were lurking between him and the village in his sights. He continued forward towards the village, but still kept a close eye on his surroundings, just in case there was a potential danger lurking nearby which he was unable to see.

As far as Leo was concerned, this was not the earth that he knew, which meant that anything else out of the ordinary could potentially present itself at any given moment.

"This is only becoming stranger and stranger. I hope that the village is not filled with those type of bear tribe monsters." Leo felt goosebumps covering his body as he shook his head. The last thing he needed was for a village full of hungry creatures to attack and eat him for their dinner!

"Halt!"

Once Leo finally arrived several yards from the village's gates, he heard some of its guards yell out to him. To his relief, the guards were human! Pausing his movements, two of the guards climbed down the walls as another three surrounded him. What surprised Leo the most from seeing these guards, was their serious tone.

One of the guards had a bandanna covering his hair with a bow in his arm. The other two had some worn out looking iron plated armor with a sword in one hand and a wooden shield in the other. Their cheap armor was not looked down upon by Leo, rather, he felt a sense of pressure radiating from these warriors.

Once Leo paused his advancement and the three guards caught up to him, they started to look him over several times while whispering to each other. These men were all extremely vigilant and their serious facial expressions threw Leo a little off guard.

"I have never seen you within our village. There is no way that you are a spy, since we are the only human village for several hundred kilometers. Who exactly are you brat?" now surrounding him, the guards started to question Leo's identity. It seemed as though they were not actually worried about Leo being a spy, just that they did not recognize a wandering kid.

Walking towards him from behind the guards, a middle-aged man covered in finely made steel armor with a heroic aura, couldn't help but groan to himself as his gaze shot towards Leo. This middle-aged man did not seem amused in the slightest seeing a younger kid which appeared clueless approaching his village.

"Either way, no spy would be as young as you are. Therefore, you will be welcomed to our village, I just hope that you survive by tomorrow. Would be a shame for a little brat dying before seeing tomorrow's sunrise." said the middle-aged man. The middle-aged man did not carry a hostile tone within his words, but Leo could tell that his presence negatively impacted him.

Not understanding the hidden meaning behind this middle-aged man's words, Leo could only watch as the guards nodded their heads in approval before putting their weapons away.

"Why are you all standing around like dummies? You know that we are getting attacked tonight by a small wave of monsters from those mountains. Hurry up and bring this little brat inside and get back to your positions!" the middle-aged man ordered while he walked back into the village. The guards all saluted the man while they turned back towards Leo.

"Yes, Master Nathan!" the guards shouted in response, as they escorted Leo into the village. Once inside, some other guards closed the gate behind them before locking them all back into the village.

"Hey kid, you see that building over there with the bright red flag? Do us a favor and head inside. With the right amount of luck, you could survive tonight's wave of monsters." one of the guards said as he shoved Leo forward, causing Leo to fall face first into a patch of dirt.
