Eli could not go invisible inside the hotel since there were cameras inside it, so he went to a secluded dark alley. After making sure he was not seen by anybody, he quickly activated the stealth-boy and evidence collector and changed to the equipment. After he was done, he ran to the location.
After just 5 minutes of running, he arrived at the place. It was in an abandoned factory near the bridge. From the outside, it looked normal. Eli searched for the entrance and soon found the front entrance. It was locked. Going around the place, he saw another side door to the factory, but this time, he saw a gangster smoking next to an open door.
After entering the place, Eli saw about 30 gangsters around on the ground level. Continuing the search, he soon found stairs to the basement. Inside the basement were 2 gangsters, 8 crates, and a tunnel that went through the concrete, and was reinforced with wood. The tunnel itself could let a grown man pass through if he crouched a bit. And judging from the direction, the tunnel should lead to the bridge. The crates also most likely held weapons!
As Eli was contemplating on whether to kill the two gangsters and start a massacre above, he overheard the two gangsters talking to each other.
The younger of the two, that looked about 20, asked in an irritated voice, "What is taking them so long, They should have arrived by now!"
The older one who looked about 30, answered calmly, "Any minute now, and you should calm down, how about you go upstairs, have a smoke, and come back?"
The younger one sighed in a frustrated voice, "I can't calm down man, I'm too stressed! There are rumors that war is gonna happen! And the weapons that arrived yesterday and also about to arrive right now are for the war! Also, last night, a large racket of ours had a total police bust on it. 51 dead man, 51! I am not worried about myself, but what about my momma and little sister? My momma is barely keeping herself out of the red, and my sister still needs tuition fees for school! Who will take care of them if I am gone!?" He was starting to have a breakdown.
The older one sighed, patted the young one's shoulder, and said, "Then go back to your family now kid, leave the Bronx and the gang, and get a proper decent job. Go now kid, I will cover for you."
The younger one was touched, hugged the older one, "Thanks man, I won't forget this!" And went upstairs.
Eli waited inside the basement for about 10 minutes, before gangsters began appearing through the tunnel, bringing with them more crates to the basement. All in all, 16 gangsters came inside, bringing 8 crates with them in about 15 minutes.
"That all of them?" One of the gangsters asked.
"Yeah, that should be all of them. The other guys already sealed the tunnel and are already driving the boat back. Let's go have a smoke upstairs." Another answered.
All the gangsters, except the old gangster, went upstairs. Eli decided that it was time to act now. Just when he was about to kill the older gangster, the scene from earlier made him hesitate... In the end, He did not kill him but knocked him out with the pommel of his knife to the back of his head. Eli then took a nearby rope and tied the gangster up, and also gagged him with the shirt that the gangster wore. It merely took 3 minutes.
Once done, Eli opened and checked the boxes one by one. Inside the 16 crates present, 2 crates held handguns of various sizes and types, including even silencers, 1 crate held Rifles, that included 5.56x45mm M16A2 rifles and M16A3, 1 crate held carbines, 2 were in-service guns such as the M4A1 and a SCAR-L., with the rest being AR-15. Another crate held shotguns like the Remington 31 and even an M500, and another crate held 2 sniper rifles! A Single mouth-watering HK417 (7.62x51mm NATO) and another MK 13 sniper rifle (.300 Winchester Magnum)! 1 crate full of submachine guns like the AR-57 and Heckler & Koch MP5. And last but not least, a crate that contained over 100 M67 grenades, and over 10 C4 satchel charges! The rest of the 6 other crates all contained an absurd amount of ammunition!
Eli muttered to himself, stunned speechless, "Did those guys rob a military cache or something? Are the government, police, and coastal guards full of retards?! These crates can fully arm a 100 man army! This is not funny! If these guys really unleashed these in the middle of NYC, it really WILL turn into a warzone, even if the ones using them are total rookies..."
Eli didn't waste more time and took a pair of pistols he eyed before. 2 M9 A3 modded pistols with a suppressor and extended magazine of 25 bullets. He did not know how they got there, or why, but he wanted them! Finally, he won't need to dirty his clothes with so much blood! After loading both guns, he went upstairs and started killing everyone. He didn't even need to waste his precious time! They all didn't even know where he was shooting from! Those who tried to escape also got shot! Most of the shots hit either the head or neck, with the rest in the chest. The skill he got helped his accuracy by a margin, and he couldn't wait for the lvl 1 upgrade!
After about 4 minutes of wild duck shooting, Eli got 44 points. With the 5 points remaining from before, he now had 49 points and the kill count in the system increased by 44, reaching 95 kills. The place was also considered as massacred. Some of the gangsters opened fire randomly, so the police should arrive after some time. Eli went downstairs, and after pondering for a bit, decided to increase the size of the space ring by 6 square meters, and used up 30 points, leaving 19 points. And then he stored all the crates inside the storage ring and then left, Unaware that the guy he knocked out and tied up already woke up, and watched the crates disappear in front of his eyes in horror. Even if he did, he wouldn't care.
Eli soon left the building, and after running in a different direction than the hotel, he changed shoes midway and then went to a different, secluded alley and changed his clothes back to normal before deactivating the stealth-boy, and returned to the hotel.
After arriving at his room, he took a quick shower, changed into better clothes, and got ready to go out. Today, he wanted to get laid.

With the level 1 updates that have already appeared, (better reflex, 6th sense, resistance, strength, robust, healing ability that you survive so that your brain is not destroyed, etc ...) with all the lvls 1 purchased would be difficult to die for a firearm, and if the pattern remains at level 2 even heavy military-grade weapons would be ineffective, there’s no reason to remove its functionality
But then, the military would steamroll in the beginning
@bignt if I understood correctly, 87% of adults will become zombies, that is, 87% of the military will become zombies, and no, that way they will have the power to survive and hit back in the beginning when everyone is weak and as a bonus, being military who will most kill monsters and zombies they will be one of the groups that will gain strength faster when firearms become useless
@Chouzenfox you have not read it then, it was changed to 50% now
44% of US households have guns in them
The system is going to take a while to power up anyone enough to help them survive the zombie apocalypse, guns will help bridge the gap until people can get enough points to be super human
Eventually I would think powers would out preform guns
Remember like our MC the military are people too, a lot of them would go AWOL to collect and protect their families
first of all gunpowder is a chemical product so it not working means all chemical product for example battery's and a whole load of other things must be examened, judged to crap out or work just fine
and how long will the hot weapons be effective against the mutants and zombers in the first place. and also in the initial stage how effectice are the hot weapons. boom 1 headshot and you are done ore do you need to give them accute leadpoisnoning whit a instand 10 pound wheight gain porgram to the head to completely oblitherating it so they stop moving.
and holy crap a 50% initial infection that is halve of all yea that will be a shitstorm even for the military. imagine it happening when they are sleeping in a barack with 150 man. ping everyone pops a screen "congratulations your universe joined the system" all awake they are unsertain and frignend and suddenly the manawave comes by and they all feel a strange feeling inside of them. moments later the first one goes beserk and gets tied up with the bedding but not later the others falling in the 50% turners turn and all hell breaks out.
i bet of the 75 if 20 survive it already very high because the begin ratio is 1:1 for the adults many of witch not amed or trained in their day to day lives and suddenly bam 50% is now a rampaging flesh hugry beast.
so to end by rant good luck with your wold building and balancing. may you have much inspiration to whrite and entertain us all. hope i gave you a good comment
was thinking the 87% was waaay too high. Have to keep in mind most people in 1st world countries aren't accustomed to physical violence, and many of the ones who are wouldn't necessarily do well in a zombie outbreak. Even then, you've still got people outnumbered by zombies 9:1. if they're dumb zombies a lot would get stuck in high rises, but there's still tons of people getting killed just by numbers. You did leave it open so younger people had a better conversion rate, which might leave people like the gangs in your story ok. Groups like that would probably recover fastest in your original scenario.
A thought about tech, you could just have materials work differently because they get infused by mana over time. Changes their chemical properties so they don't work as well, or at all, over time. Leaves open the possibility of high mana materials becoming dungeons, ie nuclear materials could have high mana density which creates a dungeon, or even just monster mutations.
I think that it would make no sense if gunpowder suddenly stopped working. Like it's chemical reaction so all gunpowder on earth would have to be changed while mana is introduced to the world. I think that it would be better if you provided explanation for why it is like that.
There's also the idea that for example not gunpowder but bullets were less effective against mana infused life forms. Something like that bullets themselves don't have mana inside them but white weaponry has a bit of it as long as the user has a direct contact with it. Or you could make that normal weapons get mana from being near user for a long time. That would limit the firearms while not completely making them useless because there's only a limited number that you can constantly keep near you. But I would keep gunpowder as it is while making it that gunpowder from system is simply stronger than regular one.
Well, that's my opinion. I will continue to like the story regardless of your choice. It's you who is writing after all.
I would say, let it still work but be a bit weaker.
Sure, make it so that gunpowder needs a special treatment to work or something, making all current gunpowder useless. But in future, would allow for massive amounts if weaponry to be utilized again.
Also, neat to see him giving out mercy. Although that kid should never have joined if he regretted it so much, and clearly there weren't circumstances keeping him there as he left so easily, so really, I do not care for him that much.
Thanks for the chapter.
I prefer that nin system gunpowder wirks on lvl 0 and stops working on lvl 1 and above
liked that not every gang member gets killed just for the sake of killing.
