"Well, it's not my fault I was brought to a world I know nothing about!" I protested. "I didn't ask to do this, you know."

<So you keep saying,> she replied dryly. <But it seems you spent the entire time I've been gone doing nothing but blubbering about with that stupid spirit beast!>

"Watch your tone, man." I pulled Nun into my lap and squeezed him against my chest. The sleeping monkey grunted in his sleep and promptly began chewing on my sweatshirt. "He made the large stone I need to make the altar!"

<And that's the only thing you managed to do?>

Oh. She has a point. I'd spent a good amount of time unconscious and arguing with Nun. I hadn't...spent my time all that wisely. But wait. The person who was supposed to help me make sense of everything wasn't there to help me!

I glared at the fairy. "And where were you? I spent forever waiting for you! You just disappeared on me!"

The fairy grimaced. <I had...business to take care of. But don't try to pin this on me! You're the one who accomplished nothing in my absence. What will you do when I eventually leave you on your own?>

"Wait, what do you mean? You're going to leave?"

<Of course! You didn't think I'd stick around to babysit you all the time, did you?>

Yes, actually, I did.  That was the entire basis for my plan of revenge. Granted, I hadn't really thought it out all that far, but I'd been counting on her sticking around for a little while.

"...Well..."

The fairy groaned and flopped onto her butt. Her weight sent yet another crack in the rock, much to my horror. Before I could tell her off, she shouted. <I knew mortals were weak but you're just the bottom of the barrel of stupid, aren't you?>

"You can't blame me," I said. "I barely know anything about this stuff!"

<I don't babysit,> she grumbled. <I barely need to spend a day with cultivators before they get the hang of things...>

"Too bad I'm not one," I shot back.

<I know,> she growled.

I glared at the fairy. She stared me down until I looked away with a huff.

Ugh. Stupid freakishly powerful fairies and their stupid scary fire and stupid strong muscles. I'd smack her if I could, but I was too afraid of breaking my hand on her forehead when I hit her. I wouldn't have to worry about it if I was a cultivator. I wonder how difficult it was to become one. Would I be able to learn during my time here?

Wait, now that I thought about it, how would I be able to run a cultivation sect if I didn't know how to run a cultivation sect if I couldn't cultivate myself? I asked the fairy and she groaned again.

<I don't know,> she answered truthfully. <Maybe...somehow, the system will provide your disciples with a cultivation method. But don't worry about that right now.>

Her wings unfolded and lifted her up into the air. She flew over to me and observed me and the still snoozing monkey.

<Wake it up,> she ordered. <We've got a lot of work to do.>
