-----???/Our Protagonist-----

-----Sewers of Brockton Bay, CT, Earth Bet-----

-----??/??/????-----

As my entourage and I continued to make our way along the sewers, I find myself in a strange mood. First of all, the fact that I'm referring to myself as an individual, actualizing my existence as my "self" is wholly unlike what is typical of a Typhon's proper mindset.

Next, there is the terminology I've been using to identify my current form, and that of my entourage. Typhon possess no language. Typhon possess no need for distinction or classification, at least not with words. Those are distinctly Human concepts. Human words to describe us.

I know for a fact that none of this knowledge came from my prey, so how do I know any of this?

It is this question that has been bugging me this whole time. My entourage senses my consternation, but they are as clueless as I. Thankfully, they don't seem to regard my "oddness" as something to be eliminated. Perhaps I've contaminated them? Perhaps they simply don't care. Perhaps they see these developments as "good" for the Typhon as a whole? Who knows?

For now, my primary focus is expanding my knowledge base as well as my overall power base. For that, I require more Mimics and Phantoms. Which means more Humans to prey on. However, the lingering threat of Parahumans still weighs heavily on my mind. A typical infestation approach feels like an improper avenue, so I must be stealthy.

However, Humans are social creatures. They tend to notice when members of their species go missing inexplicably. However, there are exceptions to this. The dregs of society. The destitute. The abandoned. The ones with no one to notice their absence. They will do nicely.

Creeping along in the sewers for some time, I've been attempting to follow the concentrations of neural energy emissions from the Humans to locate isolated pockets, away from prying eyes. After some time, I believe I've succeeded. I command my entourage to surface and make their way towards the designated pocket of Human minds I sensed underground.

Suffice to say, a bunch of homeless bums were no match for a group of Mimics with Phantom escorts. Looking at the number of Mimics gathered and Phantoms I've managed to raise, I find myself overcome with an unusual compulsion.

Ordering one of the newly spawned Mimics to come to me, I reach out one of my tendrils and sting the Mimic. Feeling a connection between itself and myself form, I begin to pull on and drink up this strange feeling. This energy that the Mimic contains.

Once I've finished draining the Mimics energy, the Mimic crumbles to dust and dissipates into thin air.

Common Name: Mimic
Scientific Name: Typhon cacoplasmus

One of the first Typhon discovered during the Vorona I incident in 1960, Mimics are capable of imitating nearby objects.

During incident case #0648-040163, it was observed that Mimics use other living organisms as a reproduction medium, killing their prey in the process.

In accordance with the Pobeg Protocol, Mimic specimens are not to be released in environments with a containment rating of less than S4.

MORGAN'S NOTES/PETER'S NOTES:
Imitation power seems limited to objects roughly the mass of the mimic itself. Could the psychoscope be modified somehow to detect hidden ones? Get to high ground and immobilize with GLOO cannon.

Weaknesses:
GLOO
Q-Beam

Immunity:
EMP

Scannable Powers:
Mimic Matter I, II, III

This sensation again. Like when I absorbed the neural energy of the first Human prey. All of this simultaneously feels like information that I already knew, yet also feels brand new to me.

Deciding to test a theory of mine, I call over one of the newly spawned Phantoms and repeat the process.

Common Name: Phantom
Scientific Name: Typhon anthrophantasmus

Phantoms are not wholly alien. Created by Weavers using human remains, Phantoms have been known to exhibit human-like neural patterns at times. But as noted in observation log #1621-041477, while Phantoms may also attempt to reproduce human phrases, they do not appear to retain any form of actual speech or human comprehension.

Due to the specimen's explosive speed, Phantoms must be subdued or enclosures purged before attempting to enter.

MORGAN'S NOTES:
Use GLOO to slow them down. Telekinetic projectiles pack a big-ass punch but can be dodged. Better to get in close and personal. Tracking bracelets on them are still active.

Weaknesses:
GLOO

Immunity:
EMP

Scannable Powers:
Kinetic Blast I, II

Just like what happened with the Mimic I "consumed", I obtained information regarding the Phantom that was both new to me, yet familiar. Deciding to try it out once more, I order for one of the remaining Mimics to be converted into a Weaver like me.

It doesn't take long for a second Weaver to be created, so I perform the "consumption" process on this new Weaver.

Common Name: Weaver
Scientific Name: Typhon geneocratis

Along with Mimics, Weavers were some of the first Typhon encountered near the Vorona I. As observed in log #0215-051060, in larger Mimic populations, one mimic will be chosen via an as-yet-unknown mechanism to undergo a specialized metamorphosis. The chosen mimic is stung repeatedly by the others, triggering a rapid change, resulting in a new Typhon geneocratis, or 'Weaver'.

Weavers appear to be central to the Typhon ecology, largely as vectors for production for some of the other species as well as the substance known as Coral.

MORGAN'S NOTES:
Prefers to avoid direct fights. Watch out for cystoids. Protected by a shield that floods attackers with a terror effect when struck. GLOO ineffective while shield is up.

Weaknesses:
Nullwave
Psychoshock

Immunity:
EMP

Scannable Powers:
Backlash I, II, III
Phantom Genesis I, II

Hmm, interesting. I felt that there was some form of potential that this form possessed that I should've known about, yet did not. Despite the fact that I already knew it. I must ponder on this at length.

In the meantime, I attempt to access the improved form of [Backlash] that has been revealed to me, only to find that I can't. Huh? Why isn't this working?

Frustrated, I decide to try and use [Mimic Matter I], only to find that I can't use it either. Okay, now I'm annoyed. Deciding to reflect on this matter later, I take my new forces and retreat once more to the sewers.

*Approximately 1 Hour Later*

After mulling things over in my mind, I've reached two conclusions. The first conclusion, is that I have no idea why I both know about, and don't know about information regarding the Typhon. The second conclusion, is that in order to access the powers of the various Typhon, I need to consume a sufficient number of them.

While I was messing around with my contemplations, I made some accidental discoveries. The first is that I can shift my consciousness, my will, to any Typhon under my command, and use their powers freely. Even the Phantom's powers. So it's not an issue with being incapable of using said powers, it's a different problem.

The second discovery is what led to me concluding that I needed to consume a sufficient quantity of Typhon's to get access to these powers. I managed to stumble across a piece of information, buried deep within the confines of my neural network, that indicated that this is not the Typhon's first encounter with Humanity.

Apparently, Humans discovered our existence during the time period they refer to as the "1960s" and conducted some research on us. Then they abandoned us in space for a while. Then new Humans came and began to research us once more.

Eventually, a brilliant scientist named Morgan Yu managed to find a way to refine our bodily matter into a material to enable the alteration of human neural structuring in their brains.

Along with neural imaging and mapping technology, this led to the development of a device called the "Neuromod". Using these Neuromods, humans could copy the skills, knowledge, etc. of any human and paste it into other humans.

While this was impressive in of itself, Morgan Yu and their brother, Alex Yu, moved onto a new project. Improving upon the neural imaging technology used to make Neuromods work in the first place, they developed a device called a "Psychoscope". This device allowed them to map the neural structures of Typhon's and implant them into Human brains.

This, in effect, granted Humans the power to utilize Typhon abilities for themselves. After reaching this realization, I realized what it was that I'd been doing. I was effectively feeding on the neural energies of other Typhon to replicate the effects of a Psychoscope.

Once I reached this realization, I thought "what if I consume enough of a given type of Typhon?" The result? If I consume enough of them, I gain the necessary information needed to alter my neural pathways to replicate the abilities of other Typhon.

Now, there was something that confused me at first. I had an instinctual understanding that we Typhon were capable of complex transformations to our own makeup. So why couldn't I just copy the information on the neural connections of my subordinate Typhon's and force my own neurology to mimic them?

I have no idea. For now though, I'll stick with what I know works. Eat Typhons, gain powers. Also make new Typhon.
