‘Urgh, what happened?’
I regained consciousness and found myself floating in the middle of an abyss. Silence filled the space since there is nothing around me, similar to the white room which I conversed with God in.
I looked around to figure out where I was and called out to God, hoping that he would answer my call, but there was no response. I recounted the last conversation I had with God, leading me to believe that I had been already reincarnated.
‘I don’t think God would fail to reincarnate me, so this space is most likely my consciousness. If so, I need to find a way to connect with my new body.’
Having decided what I should be focusing on, I thought of various methods I could use to see my current situation in my new reality. I tried bending forward as an experiment to see if I could move.
As I made my attempt, I floated a small distance away from my original position. My blood, or should I say my spirit, boiled with excitement at the discovery as I floated aimlessly to find a possible exit in this space.
While I floated in the what seemed like endless darkness, I noticed a small speck of light a long distance away on my left. I turned towards the light to see what it was.
‘Is that light the exit of this space? Argh!!!’
I became more frustrated with myself as I contemplated my next course of action. After some time, I took the gamble and floated towards the direction the light was coming from. As I got closer to the light, the speck of light grew bigger and brighter.
My surroundings gradually changed as the space around me brightened. After what felt like an eternity of travel without rest, I finally arrived (at least that's what I assumed), as my consciousness was blinded by the light.
Soon, the light dimmed, and I found myself in the darkness again. However, this time, instead of a dark and empty space, I felt warm and could smell a flowery fragrance around me. Although it was fuzzy, I could also hear some voices around me.
I somehow managed to connect my spirit to my new body, so I tried moving my left hand forward and felt it press onto something hard. I was elated that I was able to able to leave the abyss and move my body, but my excitement did not last long. Even when the rest of my senses were functional, the only one that remained uncertain was my sight. Currently, the only thing I could ‘see’ was darkness. Scared that something might be wrong, I wanted to ask someone about the current situation. The worst-case scenario was I might have been born blind, so I tried to call out to the voices around me.
“Mewwwww!”
As I called out, I thought I heard a kitten mewl. I became confused and made another attempt.
“Mewwww! ”
I heard the kitten mewl again. The sound seemed to have originated from me. I tried to analyse my discoveries and thus made my conclusion: I must be a newborn kitten! Being an animal lover in my past life, I had read up some information on kittens. If the biology of cats in this world and Earth were the same, my eyes and ears would have been closed and I would gain my eyesight in a week's time.
I breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that this was normal, and decided to patiently wait 'til I was old enough for my eyes to open. Meanwhile, I decided to check my surroundings with the senses that were available to me. My plans, unfortunately, had to be abandoned, as it seemed I was not able to move around much in my current condition.
‘Ahhh.. I’ll die of boredom if I have to stay like this for a whole week.’
I complained to myself, knowing that God would not be able to chat with me since I am not able to learn magic yet. I then tried to think of my next course of action, but fatigue hit me and my mind seemed to shut down as I reluctantly fell asleep.
