Now that I can get mana, I can start getting levels I hope. Maybe I should save my free attribute points until I know what to do with them. I have no idea what I need yet.

Amara paused and looked at the clouds while letting the mana slowly seep into her. She had used Mana Funnel repeatedly, to ensure she had a continuous supply of it. Amara would cast Mana Funnel again when she felt the stream of mana run short.

After a few times of repeating the process Amara was not able to find the world to drain it from without Ezme’s guidance.

Find out about mana and get it, check.

I can now get mana, and learn how to use it whenever I want. Ezme doesn’t actually have mana, so she doesn’t seem to know exactly how it works, only that it’s similar.

Maybe I can get books on learning how to get mana. I’m already set on getting a skill that allows me to get items from Earth. Guess it’s time to get my very own ‘steal’.

At least the abilities I make won’t be based on luck. No ‘pleasant’ surprises for me.

Amara turned to Ezme. “What should I do to be able to get my own items here?”

Ezme scratched the back of her head with a furrowed brow. “I guess you could by using a combination of Farsight, Realm Gate and a new skill.”

“After all, first you must know what you want to bring here, where it is and such. Then you must cast Realm Gate to open a path. And then last send a spell through to bring the item here.”

Ezme paused and thought for a while. “Technically it would work with a new kind of skill that both opened the path and brought the item here, but as you need to both send magical energy through one way and a physical item back the other, I think Realm Gate is most useful.”

Amara considered. “Can’t I simply make the Realm Gate appear underneath what I want to bring here? Make it fall through, no need to send a spell through?”

“Well. Technically, yes. If you’re precise enough with your mental image, which I doubt you are.” Ezme looked at Amara. “You can try it. But I think you want to bring the item here intact, not half of it, or something similar.”

Welp. That’d be pretty creepy. What if I actually used Realm Gate to rip someone in half? Guess it can be considered a combat skill too.

Ezme smiled and stood up, waving at Amara as she headed back into Amara’s chambers.

“Since we have a lot of items to spare, we might as well practise.” (Ezme)

Amara had attempted to use her idea to conjure Realm Gate underneath an item to make it fall through the portal.

The result was either the catalogues ending up in a sorry state, as the portal ripped them apart when forming, or the spell failed as she had accidentally tried to make it appear inside the floor and became blocked. Seemed that the mirror-floor was pretty handy that way.

In the end she made two new skills. Levitation, which she made trying to imagine the item being unbound by gravity, essentially removing its mass while the spell was active.

Next she made another spell that would cause the item to get yanked in her direction, by imagining the air being rapidly displaced next to the item. The attempt had also left a lot of paperbacks in a sorry state as they were rapidly sent flying.

I guess that could be used during combat as well, to break someone’s stance. If I can make it strong enough.

Do you wish to synthesize the divine skills Levitation and Explosive Decompression into a new skill?

Look at you, system. Being all helpful. Yes.

Spoiler

Levitation and Explosive Decompression have synthesized to make the new skill Filch.

Skill Filch has been added to register!

I guess it knows exactly what I’ll be using it for.

Amara soon realised that synthesized skills held no level.

“Ezme, why do the synthesized skills not have levels?” (Amara)

“Well, because they are dependent on other skills. Its efficiency improves with the efficiency of the skills that gave rise to it.” Ezme chirped as she sat on a table, swinging her legs as she watched Amara practise.

Amara raised an eyebrow. “What if I were to remove one of the prior skills?”

“Then the mental image of that skill will be copied to all the skills that had been synthesized using it.” Ezme smiled as she cocked her head.

Amara frowned. “Why not simply copy it from the beginning?”

Ezme shrugged. “Efficiency? Saves space for more data? Like you mortals use cups for different purposes. Cups were made to make it easier to drink, no matter their content. It’s not like you use different cups for different kinds of beverages.”

Amara bit the inside of her cheek. Shows what you know. That’s exactly what we do. I had designated coffee and tea cups, and to use one for the purpose of the other was blasphemy. I would hand wash a dirty coffee cup rather than fill a tea cup with coffee.

Speaking of coffee and tea. Better throw that onto my to-steal list.

“Now what’s with that face, huh?” Ezme frowned and pouted. “You look like you’re thinking something rude.”

“Not at all. I just got reminded of coffee and tea.” Amara replied as the corner of her lips twitched.

“I can get some for you next time. Though I say that, maybe it’s best for you to get them on  your own. Get some training in.” Ezme responded. “Guess I’ll help you if you disappoint me.”

“Oh? I think I should disappoint you more often then. I have a lot of things I could use your help with…” Amara grinned.

“Insolent. Insufferable.” Ezme spat out.

A sudden idea crossed Amara’s mind. An evil grin rose on her face as she gathered her divine power to the limit.

“What are you doing?” Ezme asked with a furrowed brow as she looked at Amara.

Explosive Decompression!

“UAH!!” (Ezme)

Ezme exclaimed as she was yanked backwards off the table through the white fog that appeared, falling on her back on the floor behind it as the difference in air pressure caught her body and wings.

Amara ran over to help her back up.

“Oh dear. Let me help you!” (Amara)

“Get your hands off me you insolent mortal! You did this!” Ezme scowled.

“It was the wind.” Amara smiled innocently.

“There is no wind in heaven you fool! Keep your filthy paws off me!” Ezme hollered, her face turning red as she got up.

“I need to make sure you’re alright. Make sure your beautiful feathers are all in order.” Amara smiled and stroked Ezme’s wings.

“I can do it myself!!” Ezme howled in anger.

“Don’t be like that, Fluffles.” (Amara)
