Long chapter, with many new characters. Sorry.

Amara frowned in annoyance as she used Farsight to enter the conference hall inside Andrew’s mansion, where the meeting had seemingly already started long ago. Despite the fact that there were representatives from four races, the overwhelming majority were humans. Aleesha represented the elves, and the nagas and lizard people both had one representative respectively, while the humans had a representative for each of the individual nations.

Amin, weren’t you supposed to call me before the conference began? Bad prophet!

Did he forget to call me, or did they not want me included-...where is he?

“First of all, is it not strange that we get visitors from another world at the same time as our new goddess makes contact? Are we supposed to believe that all of these things happening is merely coincidence?” (?)

Eh? Amara cocked her head at the young noble’s tone. What’s with his attitude?

The plaque placed in front of him read that the blonde man was Louis Favier, the crown prince of Favier Kingdom. Amara could recall that she had heard Amin mention Favier at some point, but regretted that she couldn’t remember anything else. Maybe I should’ve paid more attention...

Campbell visibly gripped his ceremonial staff as he expressionlessly met the prince’s gaze. “...I can’t answer why Lady Amara chose to make contact when she did. To be completely honest, I was too caught up with the prospect of receiving our goddess’ will.” He paused for a moment and glanced at Aleesha, who had her own seat and plaque at one of the tables that had been arranged in a rectangular formation, before returning his confident gaze to the prince. “And I’d like to remind you, that these visitors are here as representatives for their entire world, not a single nation.”

Following the pope’s statement, there was a moment of hesitance where many of the representatives exchanged glances. One of the representatives suddenly cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention to him.

The prime minister of the Galadan Kingdom, Robein Oswald...right! Galadan was the second largest of the five kingdoms on the western continent, together with the Alarice Kingdom as the largest!

“There have been rumours circulating regarding your race, honoured guests. More specifically, regarding your sins.” (Robein)

Aleesha blinked and tilted her head before she replied. “I’m not sure what rumours you are referring to.”

“They say that your race turned on the gods at the point when the war could be ended.” Robein pushed his glasses further up on his nose as he continued. “That your people have a history with the beings known as demon lords.”

Aleesha frowned as annoyance mixed with suspicion flashed momentarily in her eyes.“...Those rumours are yet to be confirmed. And I’m curious how you found out about them.”

Robein smiled faintly as he replied. “How does that matter?”

“Because when I requested Lady Amara to confirm those rumours for us, the only ones present were my brethren and the prophet.” Aleesha looked at the minister as she continued with an icy voice. “And since the people of this world have otherwise been completely unaware of our race’s existence, it makes me wonder whether his disappearance was something you had your hand in.”

Amara’s eyes widened in surprise. Amin has disappeared?

Make A Call: Amin!

As she waited but received no response from the call, Amara felt confused. Is he ignoring me? But he didn’t seem to mind acting as my mouthpiece…

Unless something’s happened to him. Like Aleesha said, someone might have done something to him.

“How do we know he was a prophet of the goddess to begin with?” Another representative, a small woman with dark hair named Anabelle Hayden, the princess of Hoia, spoke and brought Amara’s attention back to the conference.

I can find him later...as long as he’s alive. He better be alive. Why wouldn’t he be? I even gave him a healing skill. He's fine. Amara let out a long sigh to reduce her anxiety.

“He was appraised and confirmed to hold a title.” Campbell replied calmly.

“Who appraised him?” (Anabelle)

“My companion, Vandelor. He’s an archmage.” (Aleesha)

The princess glanced at the elf before returning her gaze to the pope.  “And nobody has spoken to the goddess directly, other than this supposed prophet?”

“...That is correct, but-” (Campbell)

[Bang!] Prince Louis slammed his palm onto the table as he rose from his seat. “Four individuals with no prior credentials show up, and proclaim themselves as the goddess’ envoys. Three of which are of a race which is known to have been in league with the demons! And then the prophet mysteriously disappears the night before this summit, so that their lies couldn’t be discovered!”

“You’re taking this too far!” Campbell roared as his face reddened.

“Are we? We have nothing but their word!” Louis’s lips rose into a contemptful smile as he continued in a lower tone. “There are even rumours that are suggesting that our supposed new goddess is a demon!”

Me? A demon? Seriously?!

“Here we go…” (?)

Indeed, here we go. I get that you can be suspicious, but what the hell is that guy aiming for?

“How dare you!” Campbell rose from his seat as he glared at the prince. “We even received confirmation of the fact that Amara is our new goddess through the system!”

“And who can tell us that it was true?” (Louis)

“Not this again…” (?)

Oh, so it’s not the first time this conversation happens? Why am I not surprised?

“The system was created by Lady Ezme. She is Lady Amara’s companion, as well as Lady Alarice’s sister.” Campbell proclaimed confidently.

A wry smile spread on Amara’s face. Companion. Such a nice, innocent way to put it.

“Yes, you said that before. But what if in fact Lady Ezme is a hostage, forced by Amara to deliver that message!” (Louis)

“That is nothing but slander!” (Campbell)

Seriously, who even came up with something like that? I'm the one being forced here!

"Then what about the rumour that Lady Amara and Lady Alarice are fighting one another! Is that nothing but slander as well?!" (Louis)

Campbell gripped his staff tighter, making his knuckles whiter as he glared at the prince. "You..."

Robain cleared his throat again as he rose from his seat. “Why don’t we all take a moment to calm ourselves. We wouldn’t want the maids to have to work overnight cleaning up the place like last time.”

While a small choir of laughter ensued, Amara fell into thought. How did they find out about my spat with the bitch? I may have told Amin, but I don't think he would spread it about...and Campbell probably wouldn't do it. The elves wouldn't...Andrew, then?

No, he looks surprised as well. Then, was it really Amin? He's not here, and he's not answering my calls. Did I misjudge him?

Once both Louis and Campbell had sat down and seemed to have calmed, Robain looked at the pope. “We know you to be a man of faith, excellency. But you can’t deny the possibility that you have been deceived by these upstarts.”

“We’re not upstarts seeking power for ourselves. We only seek an alliance against the demons.” Aleesha retorted and calmly met the eyes of the other representatives as she continued. “The demons are a threat that nobody can ignore. It’s in everyone's interest to help each other, and-”

“Why do you think we need your help?” Prince Louis grinned as he looked at the elf. “Although I’ve never been a devout man, I believe we should follow the teachings of Alarice in this case. We should only rely on ourselves.”

“Have you ever had to fight the demons?” Aleesha cocked her head curiously. “Because if you had, I think you’d know that they aren’t a foe anyone can hope to defeat on their own. The entire population of your world working together as one might not be enough to stand against them.”

Annoyance flashed in the prince’s eyes as he asked scornfully. “Is that why your people joined forces with them?”

“We are not allied with the demons.” Aleesha immediately replied with a faint annoyance in her voice.

Louis raised his palms with a shrug. “Forgive me for not taking you at your word, but there is simply too much suspicion surrounding your people that-”

“Even if the rumours regarding history turn out to be true, it is of no consequence.” A woman with red hair who Amara had found eyecatching suddenly spoke. But despite standing out from the row of representatives, her silent stance throughout the meeting had made Amara place less attention to her. Taking a closer look at her now, Amara saw that despite the woman wearing a tired expression and having dark circles under her eyes, she was still beautiful enough for Amara to feel envious.

Celene Trawell, Queen of the Alarice Kingdom...she looks familiar. Wait, doesn’t she look a bit like Amin?

“After all, children are not guilty of their parents’ crimes.” Celene added with faint amusement.

Prince Louis frowned, blatantly showing his annoyance that Celene had entered the debate. After a pause, he smiled smugly as he countered. “But the elves are still being rejected by the gods, no? If that is the case, then I can only see it as the gods viewing them as untrustworthy!”

“And you are free to view them as you like.” Celene replied disinterestedly without looking at him, which made a blood vessel pop out on his forehead while she directed her attention to Aleesha.  “Honoured representatives of Whildernae. Correct me if I’m wrong, but you are only here to extend the promise that when the time comes, our peoples will stand united against the demons.”

Aleesha visibly relaxed as she nodded with a faint smile. “That is the case.”

“Then that means that regardless of the internal matters of Teyrin, you will not interfere. Or am I wrong?” Celene cocked her head as she looked at the elf curiously.

“That is correct.” Aleesha gave the queen a friendly smile. “Although we might have our own opinions regarding your way of life and rule, it is not our place to interfere.”

Queen Celene smiled faintly while her eyes turned serious. “In that case, Lady Aleesha, tell me something. If the peoples of Teyrin were to reject Lady Amara, what stance would your people take? Would you still remain uninvolved?”

Amara raised an eyebrow. But why? Because of the minute, ridiculous possibility that I’m a demon? Without any evidence to support that claim?

Aleesha knit her brow as she fell into thought. “...It is everyone’s right to believe in what they want to. Although the elves have not been devout followers of the gods, the dryadic races of Whildernae are. Therefore, even if the people of Teyrin were to reject Lady Amara, I think those that don’t should be allowed to hear what she has to say.”

Celene listened with a bored expression. “In other words, the Amaran Church should be allowed to remain regardless of our faith in Lady Amara. Is that what you’re requesting?”

“Indeed.” (Aleesha)

Celene appraised her silently before she nodded. “Very well. If your people will stand by what you have claimed, then the Alarice Kingdom will accept your request for an alliance.” Turning her gaze to Campbell, she continued. “Your excellency, should you feel that you and your followers are in danger because the Favier Kingdom and other local kingdoms seek to prosecute you, then I will welcome you to my kingdom and will aid you in relocating to the western continent.”

Ah, now I remember! The city, Levan, is part of the Favier Kingdom.

Anyway, Celene seems pretty decent.

“Queen Celene, you can’t be serious! Don’t tell me that you have suddenly abandoned your faith in Lady Alarice!” Robain exclaimed.

Celene cocked her head with an amused smile. “Even if I had, I don’t see how that’s any concern of our neighbours.”

“But they have ties to the demons!” (Louis)

“The only ties we have with them are as enemies on the battlefield.” Aleesha retorted while clenching her fists on the table.

“Then how did you end up arriving conveniently at the same time as the prophet appeared!” (Louis)

“It was a coincidence.” Aleesha said strictly as she looked at the prince.  “We met Amin by chance, and he wasn’t even chosen by Amara as prophet yet at that point.”

“...Amin?” Robain asked in a suspicious tone.

“That is the name of the prophet.” (Campbell)

Almost as one, the eyes of most of the human representatives turned towards Celene, whose lips rose in amusement at their reaction.

“...No way!” (?)

“Your suspicions are most likely correct.” Celene smiled calmly. “The prophet and my firstborn are one and the same.”

I called it! Wait, doesn’t that mean that the ‘Queen’ he was referring to before was his mother? What's up with that?

The room erupted into low murmurs as several representatives discussed the revelation with their aides or other representatives. Campbell, as well as Andrew, both blinked and looked at each other with surprised expressions.

“How bold of you, Queen…” Prince Louis suddenly broke the low commotion with an angered tone while glaring at Celene. “I see how it is now.”

“Do you now?” Celene tilted her head with a smile that seemed to be mocking him. “Please, enlighten us.”

“Back when the demons first invaded, your kingdom was surprisingly quick and willing to lend assistance. Almost as if you had anticipated their arrival!” Louis let out an unamused laugh as he rose from his seat while glaring at the queen with a triumphant smile. “I always thought it strange, but I see now. You weren’t sending forces to stop the invasion, but to promote it in secret! How else did they manage to conquer the southern parts of the continent, on foreign land without support! And now you sent your bastard son to act as a prophet, together with these demon sympathizers, to further their gains!”

A fire lit up in Celene’s eyes as she spoke with anger in her voice. “That is nothing but unsubstantiated slander, and an insult to those who gave their lives to halt the demons. But I suppose this is what is to be expected, from a prince whose understanding of demons is limited to what can be found in fairytales.”

The blood vessel on Louis’ forehead popped while he maintained his grin. “Then, tell me something. We’ve had a decade of relative peace since the last conference, largely by all agreeing to the treaty to limit infighting while we obtain more information related to Lady Amara and this armistice. But why have you continued to increase the number of magicians and soldiers in your army during that time!”

“What?!” (??)

“This is treason against the people of Teyrin!” (???)

Celene rolled her eyes. “We indeed agreed to not wage war on one another. Which is a promise that we’ve kept.”

“Yet your actions speak as if you’re preparing to wage one!” (Louis)

“Only a fool would let their guard down. Especially when demons still hold a significant portion of this continent.” Celene replied.

“Yes, on this continent. Then why are you preparing for war on the western continent, where there are no demons!” Louis opened his arms as he looked at the other representatives before pointing at Celene. “Let's state the facts. You seemed to be aware of the demon’s imminent arrival, and seem all too willing to harbour those that have ties to the demons. All the time you have been preparing for war, while there's supposed to be an armistice between the demons and the heavens. And now you claim we need to be on guard despite the armistice. I can only draw one conclusion. The armistice is nothing but a lie and a way for the demons and their allies to stall for time, which both you and the elves are!”

“That’s not true.” Aleesha immediately denied.

“And you, Lady Aleesha.” Louis turned his grin towards the elf as he continued his frenzied speech. “Since you claim that you will remain uninvolved with our matters, then that means you shall also be neutral if there is a war between the Alarice Kingdom and other nations?”

“...We…” Aleesha hesitated with a conflicted expression. She glanced at Celene, who seemed to faintly nod her head, before she reworded her reply. “Yes. We shall remain neutral.”

Louis frowned in annoyance as she watched the exchange between the two. “I suppose we shall see if you stand by that claim.” Turning his eyes to Celene, he straightened himself and spoke clearly. “As the crown prince of Favier, I hereby make our declaration of war upon the Alarice Kingdom!”

A few gasps and murmurs were heard throughout the room. One by one, the representatives turned their eyes from Louis towards Celene.

Celene merely looked at the prince with a thoughtful expression. She suddenly turned her head to look down the two lines of seated representatives with an amused smile. “Anyone else? I’d prefer to respond to them all at once.”

There was an awkward pause before Robain suddenly cleared his throat. As more declarations of war followed the first, Amara pinched the bridge of her nose. ...Why is this happening? What the hell is even happening!

As soon as the meeting was over and the representatives were leaving to their respective rooms inside the mansion, she moved her vision outside. Alright, let’s see where Amin is. Since I can trace prayers using Divine Sight, I should be able to use it to trace Amin if I call him.

Divine Sight. As soon as the skill activated, Amara was blinded by the bright light. Imagining adjusting the brightness, a bell rang in her head.

[Ding!]

Spoiler

Divine Sight has reached level 40!

[collapse]

Nice. Now then- eh?

As soon as the brightness decreased to the point that she wasn’t blinded, she noticed how the divine power seemed to remain in dense, moving clusters. Looking closer at one of the clusters, she noticed how the brightest ones seemed to have a specific shape.

Those are people? Ah, right...Ezme said something about divine power and memories being one and the same.

But if everyone has divine power...why can’t people use it?

Realizing she had gotten off track, Amara shook her head. I can think about that later. Make A Call: Amin.

Amara expected something to enter her field of view as she used the skill. But despite knowing that the skill was active, she couldn’t see anything.

Ah, right...just because my field of view is on Teyrin, it doesn't mean I am. I'll need to start back from my room. Deactivating and reactivating Farsight, Amara followed the faint thread of gold that seemed to connect her to Amin. Eventually she ended up inside a basement where Amin laid bare chested on the floor, wrapped in blankets as he slept peacefully. Checking outside, she confirmed that Amin was still in Levan - underneath one of the houses in the lower districts of the city.

So, he’s alive. He’s not tied up, so he doesn’t seem to be kidnapped…there's not even a guard. And whoever lives in the house isn't home, so if he were awake he could simply walk out.

Looking around inside the basement, she noticed Amin’s tattered shirt laying on the floor. With plenty of dried blood on it, Amara didn’t need to think much about what had happened.

He was attacked by someone. But who? And why is he here, instead of at the church or the mansion?

There were a bunch of bloody bandages in one of the corners, as well as several empty vials. Closer to Amin, someone had left another vial filled with a red liquid, as well as bread, a bucket of water and a handwritten note. Because it was dark, Amara had to direct her view closer in order to read the note.

‘Stay here until we get back. Dangerous people looking for you outside. Obviously.

If you have a headache, you can drink the potion.’

Amara let out a sigh as she took another look at Amin. Oh, well. Looks like he isn’t in any immediate danger.

Even if he were...what can I do?

_______________

Returning to the mansion, Amara went through the different rooms until she found Celene talking to an aging man with a face covered in scars.

“It seems things went as you predicted.” (?)

“Better than expected.” Celene replied with faint amusement in her tone.

“So how many of them declared war on us?” (?)

“Four.” Celene let out a sigh as she walked over to the window and looked out at the city with a thoughtful expression. “But Azar wasn’t one of them.”

“Huh.” The man cocked his head as he looked at the ceiling thoughtfully. “I guess it should speed things up if not all the nations of the western continent are against us.”

“Officially, anyway.” Celene replied with a disdainful snort. “Azar will join later on, when they think we have our backs turned. But then again...they might be aware that the only reason the other nations on our continent still exist is because we’ve allowed them to. After all, other than Galadan, the others are little more than a nuisance on their own.”

Amara raised an eyebrow. They want a war? What the...

“Hmm.” The man crossed his arms and let out a sigh. “I’m guessing Favier are who we need to be worried about on this continent?”

“Please.” Celene crossed her arms and stroked her jaw with her fingertips. “They don’t have enough ships to transport an army to the western continent. And even if they did, they’ll need to be worried about us asking Bavara to invade them.”

The man let out a chuckle. “I suppose choosing to marry the Bavarian king’s brother is finally showing to be a worthy investment.”

“Of course.” Celene smiled in response. “It was all for this. He will allow us to use his territory as a foothold when the time comes and serve as a deterrent in the meantime.”

“What about the other nations on the continent? Are they all neutral?” (?)

Celene’s expression darkened. “Since they know they need ships, Favier has probably approached Hoia in order to get them. Because of how confident he was making a declaration of war, the crown prince probably received a positive answer already. But since Hoia’s princess didn’t declare war on us, either they are hesitant...or they think they are keeping it a secret.”

The man shrugged. “Ships can be sunk anyway.”

“Indeed.” Celene frowned and crossed her arms as she looked at him. “When I return, you’ll take a team of your students to Hoia.”

“Should we withdraw those sent to spy on the nagas? According to the reports, there’s no indication that they have been preparing for anything, nor that they were aware that Amara would make contact.” (?)

“...If they really are uninvolved, it's a relief. But they are interested in the elves…” Celene pinched her chin. “Keep a skeleton crew to monitor the changes following the conference.”

“Alright.” The man let out a long sigh. “I doubt public opinion will be favourable for this war. Most of the nobles just want to count their coins.”

“They will complain like always. But once they see the prospects and gains that open up with conquering the western continent, they’ll turn enthusiastic.” Celene replied bitterly. “And even if they don’t, we have the spares among the state magicians, knights and shadows who are willing to replace their respective family heads.”

“I suppose separating them from their families and giving them the opportunity to make names for themselves will finally pay off.” The man replied before he turned towards the queen with a frown. “But what if Hoia and Favier choose to invade Bavara together?”

“That would be a problem.” Celene cocked her head thoughtfully. “But since the hoians will have to cross several nations to get to Bavara, I think you and your students should be able to slow them down.”

“And frame one of the nations they will pass through?” (?)

“You and your students should be able to handle it.” Celene replied with an amused smile. “Right?”

“Of course.” (?)

Celene looked out of the window again. Her smile gradually dropped into a flat line before she spoke quietly. “...Any sign of Amin?”

“Not yet.” The man let out a sigh and followed her gaze to look out the window. “Either someone’s harbouring him, or he has left the city.”

Celene stared silently into the distance with a sorrowful gaze. “Keep searching.”

“Of course.” (?)

“And have someone keep an eye on the church. If Amin’s alive, he might contact the pope telepathically.” (Celene)

Amara raised an eyebrow. She seems worried about him.

Yet, Amin refers to her as ‘the Queen’...maybe he doesn’t know? If he knows and still chooses to refer to his own mother like that, I’ll be giving him an earful.

As the man had left Celene alone to deliver her orders, Amara decided to check up on the other representatives. In particular, the prince that had been hostile towards Celene and the elves during the meeting. When she found him, she immediately noticed that he wasn't alone, but in a meeting with the representatives that had declared war on the Alarice Kingdom, as well as two who hadn't.

“Hah! Did you guys see how quiet she was? That arrogant bitch finally became scared when she realized how great her opposition is!” Louis let out a laugh as he sank down on an extravagant couch in one of the lounges. “Although, her acting was superb.”

If anyone’s arrogant, I’d say it’s you.

“I don’t think she was scared at all, your highness.” Anabelle remarked from her seat opposite to the prince.

“Of course she was! And even if she wasn’t, she will be when she realizes she has to face not just those of us who declared war, but Hoia and Zoruth as well!” (Louis)

Well, she already expects half of that. Never heard of Zoruth though.

A few of the representatives murmured in agreement, before Robain spoke. “The Alarice Kingdom’s strength can’t be underestimated. Even when they had sent troops to fight the demons, they held enough strength to repel our invasion.”

Louis gave the senior a glare as he threw up his arm on the backrest. “That’s because they only sent a token force! It was an obvious bait to lure you to attack!”

Robain closed his eyes with a thoughtful expression. “...I have a hard time believing it was all an act back then. But in either case, their strength has increased during the past decade.”

“What are you? A coward?” (Louis)

Robain smiled faintly as he opened his eyes. “No, I’m a pessimistic realist. There’s a difference.”

“What, so you don’t think you-” Louis gestured at him and two of the other representatives. “-three will be able to defeat her on your own?”

The three representatives from the kingdoms on the western continent exchanged glances, before one of them spoke. “...I’d say it’s more appropriate that the three of us will be tied in strength with the Alarice Kingdom. Perhaps with Azar on our side, we’d have a slight advantage.”

Louis frowned as the three seemed to be in agreement. “I guess it would be best for us to clean up on one continent first..if we keep Bavara occupied, Hoia could send their army to the western continent and attack them from the south. Marching your army across the continent would take both time and resources anyway.”

“And sail around south, which is infested with demons?” (Anabelle)

“There’s a barrier, remember? Just sail around it!” (Louis)

“What about what you said of Lady Amara? If the armistice is fake, then the demons can pass through the barrier. Is she really in league with the demons?” (Anabelle)

“Does it matter?” Louis replied with a grin. “We can finally put the Alarice Kingdom in its place once and for all. Even if the pope’s claims about our goddess are true, she can’t do anything even if she disapproves, right?”

“Yes, but…” (Anabelle)

“But what!” Louis exclaimed in frustration and shook his head. "If you're scared of the demons, just sail further away from the shore!"

The room was silent for a moment before one of the other representatives spoke. “Was it really worth antagonizing the otherworlders for the sake of coming up with an excuse to attack the Alarice Kingdom?”

“They are separate matters.” Louis smiled and opened his arms wide. “You saw it too, right? Those elves need us more than we need them. We can extend the hand of friendship whenever we want, with any terms we want, and they’ll have no choice but to accept it.”

“But now the Alarice Kingdom has already decided to forge ties with them.” (Anabelle)

“A minor setback. But in the end, it works in our favour by putting the Alarice Kingdom in a worse light.” A smug grin spread on Louis’ face as let out a sigh. “Although I didn’t expect her to do that, once the Alarice Kingdom is nothing but dust, the elves will have no choice but to turn to us.”

“What about the rumours of their ties to the demons?” Robain asked with a troubled expression. “And who spread all those rumours to begin with? So many things among the rumours turned out to be true, so what if...”

“It doesn’t really matter! Whoever spread those rumours did us a great favour.” Louis countered. “After all, we will be in complete control of the relationship. It’s why that bitch chose to offer them a helpful hand in the first place. And she even did us a favour by ensuring that they won’t interfere with the war!”

The room was silent before Anabelle spoke thoughtfully. “And what about the prophet? What is the reason behind his disappearance?”

“Who knows? But in either case, he has just as much influence over the church as the pope, if not more.” Louis shrugged. “Since he turned out to be the bastard prince of the Alarice Kingdom, he’ll try to use his position to sway the church, and consequently the people, against us. Since they heard the rumours, they realized that we knew and hid him in advance so their actions wouldn’t be discovered. If the elf hadn’t slipped up, we might not have put two and two together.”

“I would have recognized him if he were present, even without the rumours.” Robain replied.

“All the more reason for them to hide him.” (Louis)

“Makes sense.” Anabelle tapped her cheek with a finger. “Then what should be done about the Amaran Church? Do we leave them be, or…?”

“The safest option would be to eliminate them before they can cause problems. We can use the excuse that the demons have infiltrated their ranks.” (Louis)

WHAT?!

“A lot of the priests are regular citizens, with friends and family among the populace. There might be a revolt if we do something as drastic as killing them.” (Anabelle)

Yeah, speak some sense into that idiot!

“Then we imprison them with the claim that it's for their own security, and to find out who among them have had dealings with demons. All we need to do is release a few who won’t cause trouble for us, to make a show that we’re doing what we say and that we’re not harming them unjustly.” (Louis)

Amara frowned in annoyance as their conversation continued. Looks like they really don’t believe with certainty that I’m a demon. Or allied with them. Instead, they are just using it as an excuse to start a war.

...And somehow, that only makes me angrier. In any case, I need Amin to warn Campbell about what these idiots are planning.

But what the hell have they been told by those rumours? Who has been spreading them, and why?
