We have OP stories of MC being reincarnated, having cheats and whatnot but what about writing a story of a person who was born as a genius but is compared to a cheat being?
Let me give you guys an idea.
There's this handsome MC who was told that he is a genius that comes from some plot related events and his bloodline is ancient. He then acts arrogant because he can due to his OP skills but then boom! Some random guy who got reincarnated, gets cheats and has a harem and your MC began to spout how he should use his power to do good but that guy acts like a lazy bastard and flirts with girls.
This causes your MC to feel envious as all the praise he got gets transfered to this lazy guy due to being reincarnated and whatnot.
I read a novel about this as well but its not comparable because as a child, he was called a genius and be a strongest person on existance then this bastard came in and ruined it.
There, you can write how your MC kept on improving and this lazy bastard kept calling him a 'broken character' or a 'cheat' when he can do better than your MC and even gets praised for his cheat abilities.
I think its a good plot because your MC who was born with a gift then this random dude who acts lazy is so OP that it pisses you off that you want to support this MC.
Basically batman and superman but he wants to improve. Why do people support batman when superman is better than him? Write this story off and you'll be happy to know this is gonna be interesring to write.
How a character struggles, how he wants to prove he is better, how he slowly try to resist evil intentions just so he can prove he is better than that guy. Basically this is what this story's about.
Also to writers, how about you write this character in your story instead of throwing disposable young masters your way?
I've been thinking of something similar to this.
If you have ever read any Wuxia or Xianxia, then you are definitely acquainted with the super geniuses that pop up and are stronger than the MC despite all the 'fortuitous' encounters.
What would the story be like from their perspective? They train their whole lives expending all the resources that their families can afford only to lose to the MC and fall from grace, ending up losing their genius title.
It would be cool to write a story from their perspective to show that they haven't led the smooth lives that being called 'sons of heaven' seems to depict.
This would be my addition to this, making the lead of this story into a disposable young master instead of pitting him against them. He can even have a good relation with other such young masters and puts up with their behavior for the sake of his family.
Another possible scenario could be that the so called MC of other stories slaughters his whole sect/family because one of the members hurt his Jade beauty or something silly like that. The key to my addition is to make things very realistic in the life of our genius so that the OP MC's acts seem hateful and silly in comparison.
In addition, we can say that the young master should also be pitiful as well. Its not like he is possessive of the jade beauty. Like, he trained his whole life, he isn't desperate to get her attention and is basically trying to win her over. She acts cold to him but he understands that he is weak compared to her. Also, his acts of being arrogant is basically a misunderstanding as well.
Example being that the store owner who boast being the best wine maker is actually a scammer and the young master knows that he is selling cheap wine for huge profit. He wanted to prove that he isn't evil and wanted justice but your so called OP guy just condemn him for being a tryrant and beats him up and stoles his lover right in front of him.
How would you feel when your on the side of justice, trying to prove that the wine owner is a scum and this bastard not only beats you up in front of a girl you like, steals her away from you and being shame for being a tryrant?
It also be justified as well why your parents who are braindead seem to also pity and rage with you when you put the perspective like that.
@ArcadiaBlade That is exactly the sort of vibe I wanted to give the story! A hard but fulfilling life that breaks apart once the OP guy shows up and decides to destroy it on a whim.
I had a nice idea for the ending as well the young master could go on a different route to strength that doesn't really clash with the OP guy because of his tragic experiences, and in the end where the OP guy seems to be the strongest guy in the universe, the young master stands calmly watching over the situation but no one can detect him. He can crush the OP guy with just a thought but just smiles and leaves on an adventure to places that the OP guy doesn't even know exist.
The idea behind this is that generally the OP guys get a cheat from some some ancient powerful guy but just an item or inheritance from them can hardly let them surpass the ancient guy but the young master ends up finding his own path or something with no cheat.
