After a while, Xiang Yu inched over to Qiu Ling and Jing He, looking at the dragon king. He raised his hand and tried to lift the spell that Tian had put on Qiu Ling. Anyway, Tian would never hurt him so it was alright for him to try.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.

Xiang Yu lowered his hand and sighed, turning to Jing He with an apologetic smile. "There’s nothing I can do."

Qiu Ling widened his eyes and stared at him intently, trying to communicate that he might not be able to speak but that he was still able to hear him very well.

Jing He nodded at Xiang Yu while patting his husband’s arm. "It’s alright. We’re thankful that you tried at least."

Qiu Ling beamed. His beloved had called him his husband!

Xin Lan strolled over as well and gave Qiu Ling a long look. "Just looking at your face, I want to go and congratulate Tian on his decision. You’re already infuriating when you’re silent and it gets even worse when you can speak."

Qiu Ling threw him a 'You’re only jealous that I got the person I love while you’re still a single dog' glare.

Xin Lan’s brows twitched in response. That expression was a little too easily readable. He clenched his hands into fists and wondered if he would get into trouble if he used one of them to punch this guy in the face. Even if he got into trouble … maybe the feeling of wiping that smug grin off would be satisfying enough to make it worth a try?

Jing He looked at Xin Lan pointedly before he turned to his husband and cupped his cheeks. "I think you’ve already seen enough, haven’t you? Why don’t we return home?"

Qiu Ling shook his head widely. He wouldn’t go just like this! He still had to discuss things with that bastard Xin Lan!

Jing He’s lips curved into a seemingly meek smile. "No? What a pity. I had hoped my husband would prefer to spend time with me but …"

Qiu Ling reached over and cupped Jing He’s cheeks in return, making him look up again just when he wanted to lower his gaze. Then he nodded as hard as he could. He definitely wanted to!

"Are you sure? I thought you had just wanted to say that that wasn’t the case."

Qiu Ling shook his head. He wanted to! Definitely wanted to!

Jing He smiled happily and then turned to the other three people, slightly bowing to all of them. Anyway, all three of them were his Elders and one of them was even his father-in-law. He had to show some respect if his husband already skimped on that. "I’m sorry we made trouble. Blame it on us being young."

Xin Lan snorted. "If you brought that excuse, I would maybe accept it but that bastard of a husband you have there is much too old for that."

Jing He just continued to smile. This Xin Lan … he could understand a bit why Qiu Ling reacted so badly to him. He wasn’t giving anyone face.

Qiu Ling glared at the person that dared to treat his beloved like this but there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t win against him in a fight and now, he couldn’t even spar with him verbally! This was simply infuriating!

Xiang Yu pursed his lips and glared at Xin Lan before he turned back to Jing He. "Then I’ll open a portal for you. Where do you want to go?"

Jing He turned to look at his husband and smiled. "You know, when you are finally with the person you love, then it doesn’t matter where you go. Even if it was the darkest place, it would still seem bright to me with my husband around. I guess that is what young love feels like. I’m sure you’ll understand one day since you’re also quite young."

Qiu Ling beamed, Xiang Yu looked on with envy, and Xin Lan’s brows twitched. He distinctly felt that the Son of Heaven had just cursed him in his very own way.

Xiang Yu looked at the two of them and grabbed Jing He’s hand. "That’s really beautiful. I hope I can someday also be with somebody who loves me that much."

Xin Lan glanced at him and snorted but was ignored.

Xiang Yu instead opened a portal as he had promised and watched Jing He and Qiu Ling leave. Mn, as a show of his goodwill, he had sent them to a very nice place! They could wait there until the spell wore off and further their relationship.

When he had closed the portal, Xiang Yu turned to the last person that was left. "Actually, why did you come over?"

Leng Jin Yu gave a wry smile. Yes, why had he come over? Wasn’t it because his husband had begged him to go and watch the fun for him so he could tell him in a detailed manner what had happened? "Well …"

Xin Lan snorted. "What? You wouldn’t want to say you’re also very miserable, would you? Who would believe you? Just wait for Tian to put a spell on you as well."

Xiang Yu glanced at Xin Lan before he turned back. "You are happily married to him, aren’t you? Don’t tell me it’s not working out?"

Leng Jin Yu continued to smile wryly. What was he supposed to say now? He wouldn’t dare say that things weren’t great with Jinde but he also didn’t dare say they were great after how the supreme sovereign had reacted just now. "Well, I sometimes feel a little pitiful. My husband originally fell in love with me in my past life. It’s hard to live up to my own expectations. But anyway, I just wanted to see how you’re doing." He reached out and patted Xiang Yu’s head in the same way Jinde always used. It was very much like interacting with a child but somehow, this fallen god seemed to like it. His usually gloomy face would light up in these moments.

Once again, Xiang Yu beamed when he was treated this way. He also couldn’t help but turn to Xin Lan and then point at Leng Jin Yu’s nose. "Do you see that? You should be a bit more like him! Then maybe you could make the person you like fall in love with you."

Xin Lan wanted to reach up and grab his chest. That … that had been too vicious!

Leng Jin Yu just laughed and patted Xiang Yu’s head again. "It seems you’re doing great. Then I should return to my husband. Jinde also wants to hear how you’re doing."

"Sure! I’ll send you back." Xiang Yu didn’t bother about the old dragon next to him anymore and opened another portal for Leng Jin Yu. Watching him leave and Jinde wave from the other side, he was in a much better mood already so he walked off to go and busy himself.

Only Xin Lan was left behind, his hair fluttering in the breeze. He couldn’t help but feel … as if it would be nice to go and drink with Tian for once. Anyway, they were both lovelorn men, weren’t they? They could join each other in their solitude. Unfortunately, if he really went and asked him to do so, he would likely be hit with a spell much worse than just not being able to speak for a day.

It was a pity that Xin Lan didn’t know that there was yet another lovelorn man standing in his study in the Nine Heavens, looking at the chair that had been used by some rogue couple, and wondering if he should replace it.
