Is there a reason you split it into two books? From my perspective it seems really stupid for web novels on sites like this to do that. Physical books have an upper limit on size, are distributed in lump sums, and want to be split up for sales. A free web novel updating weekly, if not faster, doesn't share those concerns. It's usually better to keep it as one continuous story for convenience. If I missed this post I wouldn't have known to follow your 'new' story and would have forgot about it.
I made an extensive post about the reasons and stuff in the ending note of the final chapter.
Wanting to get rid of some bad habits and experiments, in a way, it got too long and maybe intimidating for new readers, a new story might attract new readers, I got stuck on the capital arc for too long, and, and, and...
Longs story short, because of reasons and because I wanted to.
@Teanam So essentially you're making a bad choice for web novels for no reason. You already have a large following, a good rating, a stockpile of chapters to binge, and no bad reviews. A new novel with a low word count and the word sequel in the description isn't pulling in new readers more than what you already have established. I searched this site and changed no settings or filters. Just defaults. This story is on the bottom of the first page. If anything you're just risking losing your current readers that miss the update. You can't have more than 100% of your current readers migrate to your new story, but you can certainly have less than 100%.
I know I'm coming off negative, but if I didn't give a sh*t about you I wouldn't have said anything at all.
@cmck Well, I do get your points, and I also agree with most, but it's what I want.
I made some "interesting" decisions in the beginning (for some, I even got into some very unfun situations), and some early chapters are of questionable quality. I have my doubts that I'll actually succeed with that, but I want to try something with a higher quality from the very beginning.
Also, for the category that's important to me, the Girls-Love one, Boosted Restart has more than three times the views as the last story on the first page. I am fairly sure that the sequel will long have caught up with that before Restart will fall from the GL front page. There won't be that much loss of visibility, in my opinion.
Seeing a "completed" story on the front page, combined with the mention of an ongoing sequel, might attract some that have put it to the side for now. I know many people that hold out on stories until they're completed. In fact, ever since putting the "completed" tag here, I've gotten roughly twice the daily amount of new readers than while I was actively updating it.
Have a cute Ellie on the way (over there)~
Mayday, mayday, I got hit by an unexpected Ellie's cuteness surprise attack, send the medics please
Time to see some other races & territories.
Let the Hype Begin
Let'sa go!
