"-HHHHHAAHHHHFFFUAHHHH!-" The Kid's pained wailings persisted.

As quick as he could, he pulled his hands away and leapt back.

While he was correct about his fur providing a layer of protection, it was clear that it couldn't be relied upon. The fur on his paws was gone, revealing long, dark claws, and significantly less intimidating enlarged humanoid-hand-paws.

Had his hands remained in that goop any longer, he'd have little more than stumps at the end of his arms. It was a stroke of good fortune that only the tips of his middle fingers melted away. On top of that, his attack had its own cost. Blood poured out from fresh cuts along his arms.

"YEEEEOOOW THAT HURTS!" The Kid shouted, with boyish innocence that caught the opposing creature off-guard, if only for a moment.

Good. That bought him a moment to thin-

'NEED A WEAPON, GOT IT.' He thought, just as his moment passed and the slug-boar creature turned and charged again. A simple move, but the disgusting-slug-boar is content with it. It's learned to appreciate simplicity.

The Kid managed to hop out of the way. Following that, he gritted his teeth and leapt out of the crater. It was against his nature to flee, but it was even more against his nature to melt into a puddle of indiscernible goop and die. Avoiding this fate, he dug his claws into the bark of the sturdiest tree he could reach, and hurdled himself up to its sturdiest branch, way high up. He'd always been good at climbing trees.

He'd missed it.

As the clung to the branch, the sizzling, along with the piercing violent squeals and huffs of the creature below him captured his attention. The creature steadied itself for a moment, before peeling off up the sides of its crater.

It'd have to keep running in a straight line if it wanted to make it up. No time to dodge- That's it- THAT'S the last mistake it'll ever make!

"FALL, YOU DAMN PIG!" The Kid screamed as he produced blood-soaked blades from his sleeve, and threw each and every one at the disgusting creature. Normally he saved his blades for human opponents.

Humans are met with human threats, and Beasts with Beast. That's how he did things.

But he had to finish this thing fast, no matter what. For some reason. He was sure there was a good reason. Right?  Something, something, something he wanted? Something?-

"BWAH!" The Kid shouted, as his tree shook hard from its base. His feet slipped off his branch, but managed to catch and hold himself up by an exposed-enlarged-paw-hand.

His gaze shot down his foe, and he happened to see the last of his blades melting into nothing against the slightly-reddened layer of goo surrounding the thing, before the blades so much as touched flesh.

CRAP SHIT STUPID FUCK BALLS DAMNIT-

The sizzling grew louder, and the tree shook again. The Kid heard a slight crack overhead.

The tree shook hard, but the Kid was surprised at its sturdiness. The steel of his blades melted in an instant, yet this tree would stand for a few more seconds.

He wouldn't, though, as the branch he was clinging to cracked and weakened. It crack, cracked, and as the slug-boar crashed for the final time- SNAP!

"AHHHOWOWOWOWOWWOWOWOWOWWWUH!" He fell flat on his back with a THUD, before sitting up slightly and grabbing the back of his head. "Geez, that stings!"

The boar-slug wasted no time, charging once again.

"AH!" The Kid barely managed to spring to his feet before the Beast would strike him.

As physically formidable as the thing was, it was also predictable, not hard to dodge... Yet. The Kid quickly stepped to the side and, still holding desperately onto the branch, held it overhead and swung it down like an ax.

It broke through the layer of goop covering its skin. It began to blacken and melt away, but it made contact with the skin of the creature. Still, it was just a cracked branch, and splintered harmlessly as soon as it made contact.

The Kid's eyes widened excitedly. Wood works!

The Kid scampered off into the woods, his eyes darting around wildly as the creature gave chase.

No, too specific! Hm. Fur also resisted melting. What connects tree and fur? Natural things? Is it that? No? What else connected-

He almost tripped over fallen branch in his path- It was long, heavy, and thick enough to swing- AHAH! He grabbed it with his foot and tossed it to his hand with inhuman dexterity, before stopping on a time and slamming it into the head of the creature.

Minimal flinch. Again, splinters.

DAMNIT CRAP! TO HELL WITH LOGIC- WOOD, TREES, WOOD- WOOD HITS! WOOD WILL KILL IT! JUST NEED A BIGGER STICK- NEED LONGER WOOD- HARDER, BIGGER WOOD!

"EHEHGGEGEGEGEEGG-" He giggled as he ran, blood pouring from his mouth and his chest as he ran at full force. "SOUNDS LIKE A PEEEEENIIIIIISSSSSSSS!"

He giggled manically, and his apprehension grew. He was becoming deeply aware of the blood he was losing with each attack, each dodge, each quickened step that he took. He had... Maybe three? Four? Good moves left?

He and his beast- Very strong, he knows! He knows for certain! Endurance though, long fights, not good for him! Bad!

Damnit, it hurt! It hurt so much! He doesn't like it at all, it feels very bad! He hated it, he- Hate-

HE HATED IT SO GODSDAMNED MUCH!

STUPID ANIMAL ONLY RUNS STRAIGHT- GO! OTHER DIRECTION!

He dodged to the right. Right. He was reminded about his fight with S. He hated losing. He hated the hurting. He hated being ignored.

The boar-slug skidded past with a disgusting oink, before turning towards the Kid, who bore an ugly and degenerate HATEFUL furl on his face, which gave the dark creature pause.

He was hugging a tree- A tall, sturdy tree, a little over 60 feet tall, with both arms.

"DIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-" He screamed, hate pouring out of every inch of his body, as the tree uprooted.
