With my newly upgraded abilities, it didn't take all that long for me to get Zramazos's measurements. Once I had it right, I just shot the hole way into the sky, hopefully far too high up for anyone to realize what they're looking at, for later use.

After that, Sis and I quickly made our way to the bridge before Zramazos could ask too many questions. Figure we just speed across this 'till we're out of sight, then we hop under the bridge and warp out, or something. I'm exercising more caution, going forward. Probably. At least until I forget to.

"Y'know, I've gotta say," Sis began as we walked. "You handled that situation surprisingly well. From what I could gather, at least."

"Yeah, I suppose so." I said. I'm not gonna pretend it went perfectly, but, well, it certainly could have gone a whole lot worse.

"I totally figured you were the type of guy to clam up around girls. Y'know, get all flustered and stuff. Heck, I wouldn't have been surprised if you ended up being a total incel or something."

"That so." I said. I think I should be insulted, but, frankly, I'm too busy trying to recover from the shock of an 8 year old girl using the term 'incel'. "Yeah, guess I've never really had trouble talking to girls."

"Really?" Sis said, sounding maybe just a little too surprised. "Huh. Wonder why that is."

Seriously?

"How much have you been watching S and I?" I couldn't help but ask.

"Eh, just a bit every now and then since you came here. Why?"

"No reason." I said. "Well, that's not true. But I bet you'll figure it out eventually."

"Are you trying to sound clever?" She said, a little flatly. Well, she says most things flatly, but especially so, in this case. She seemed irritated, basically. "Eh, whatever." She got over it rather quickly, though. Didn't even let me get out a witty retort. What the heck.

Anyways, we made it to the end of the bridge after a while, and we ducked under I warped us back to Starsford.

"So, what's the plan?" Sis asked.

"Well, first, we oughta get Zramazos something nice to wear. Heremays probably has something that'd suit the situation, I'd wager. Oh, but I guess, before that, I should get the food situation sorted out."

"Makes sense." Sis said. "Y'know, I can't help but think you're putting a strange amount of effort into this."

"I don't get the chance to play cupid often. It's exciting, isn't it?" I said, feeling a smile creep its way onto my face.

"Is it?"

"Of course."

"Huh. Interesting."

The heck is that supposed to mean?

Anyways, we made our way to the inn. Y'know, I always refer to this place as 'the inn in Starsford,' but I'm sure there are more than inns than just this one, here. Starsford is pretty big, after all. I should probably learn the actual name.

Eh, that's too much work. If need be, I'll just refer to it as 'S's cousin's inn.'

Anyways again, we made our way there.

Unsurprisingly, given the sort of awkward post-lunch but not quite close to dinnertime time that we arrived, the place was basically empty. The innkeeper lady seemed to be sort of absent mindedly scrubbing a glass, as not much was really happening.

I noticed that the fire was going. Reminded me that my ears were getting a little hot, under my hood. Not gonna take it off just yet, though.

The innkeeper lady looked up as we came in. "Oh! Good afternoon! What brings the two of you in today?" She asked with a customer service smile, once again with trained efficiency.

"Yo. Do you guys do takeout?" I asked.

"Hmm... Not usually, but," She looked around at the otherwise empty place with a slightly distant look on her face. "Well, I think we could make it work. Might I ask why?"

"Preparations for a picnic." I explained.

"Oh, how fun!" She said. "Today is a great day for fishing and eating outside."

Fishing? Oh, right, Sis is decked out in fishing gear. Kinda forgot that's not a thing people normally do. "Indeed."

"So, what would you like?"

I opened my mouth to speak.

. . .

Crap, I forgot to ask them what they'd want to eat, didn't I?

"Uh... I dunno. What can I get for, like 4 gold?"

"... A lot, frankly." She said.

. . .

Ultimately, we couldn't come to a clear conclusion about what to actually get, so eventually I just said 'a bunch of whatever would be easy to prepare and would probably taste good after a few hours of sitting in a box' and handed them the money.

Anyways, while that was cooking and stuff, Sis and I made our way over to Heremays's place. I flipped my hood off, giving my ears a chance to rest as we left the inn. Probably wont need it for this next part, I wager.

"I know I asked this earlier, but is there anything that you wanna do after this?" I asked Sis as we made our way through the city streets. She hasn't said anything yet, but I still kinda feel bad about just dragging her around all the time. I'm aware that that statement doesn't mean much considering I am currently dragging her around chasing one of my stupid whims, but... Yeah.

"Eh. I don't really care. I'm good with whatever." She said perhaps the least helpful sentences ever uttered. "Though, if I had to pick something," Oh, never mind. Well, technically, that's a new sentence, so I'm still right. She continued, "I suppose I'd like to try fighting something."

I was a little taken aback, to be honest. "R-Really?"

"Yeah. I've seen a number of fights, y'know, from small scale brawls to, like, wars and all that, but, well, there's nothing hostile Up There, so I've never been in one, myself. I cant help but be curious." She explained.

"A-Are you sure? It might get dangerous..." I said, reasonably apprehensive, I think.

"Not for me." She pointed out. "I bet I kick a*s, anyway..." She began.

I opened my mouth to speak, but... Nothing. I don't know... Would it be hypocritical of me to try to dissuade her, after everything I've done? But, then again, immortal or not, would it be right to encourage something like this? And, in the first place, doing something like this, without S...

"...and there's no way I'd let anything serious happen to you, obviously." She finished her thought.

. . .

Heh.

Well, I'm not sure how I feel about a girl half a decade younger than me protecting me, but... Well...

"Alright." I said. "I guess we could probably use some cash after all this, anyways."

I won't lie, I'm still apprehensive, but...

She makes a pretty dang convincing case.
