Hello or good evening I guess! It's Aliwai at your service ! As always hahaha...

In the comments, someone advised me to write in the first person, so here goes hehehe... A great chapter in the first person is worth its weight in gold, I tell you.

Let me know if it's suitable or not, I hope my writing isn't too boring!

First person or third person? I'm still hesitating.

Music I've been enjoying lately: Hijo de la Luna

Chapter 04: Little walk in the forest

Nice little chat between our heroine and Akira. Character development check!

(Description of what Yuna is wearing in this chapter after a reader's pertinent remark, thanks).

Have a good read!

While Akira was leading me to the camp where my future lodging for this night is, I took the opportunity to ask him some questions.

Despite my difficulty to walk due to my new body which has a morphology and a vision totally different from my old one on earth. As for the smaller size, obviously, it was difficult to find the balance at the beginning, but one gets used to it quickly enough.

Since I am now an elf, my vision and hearing have been elevated to another level. My elf vision allows me to see further and in more detail, but strangely enough, I can make out a small green glow on the trees and plants around me. My eyes wandered around trying to make sense of this little light. I concluded that it was due to my connection with nature as I am now an elf.

As for my hearing, it is definitely more accurate, I can hear animals singing in the distance and the whisper of the wind blowing through the trees.

All these new abilities give me a special feeling, I feel like I'm floating in a beautiful forest under a beautiful silver moonlight.

Of course, it was hard to get used to it at first, but I got over the change quickly. Of course, it wasn't just the change that bothered me at first, the other problem was my clothes.

Yes, I know.

I am currently wearing a pair of ankle boots and a nice white dress, the dress is quite comfortable and supports my upper body quite well. However, the bottom of the dress is definitely too short! I didn't ask for a skirt! It's indecent.

I don't know if it's just me, but I found it too short. I couldn't help but pull the dress down with a red face of shame and embarrassment.

Of course, I am now a girl, but in my head I still see myself as a man wearing a too-short dress in the forest accompanied by another young man.

What kind of scenario is that?! Seriously?!

Also, from time to time, I could feel Akira's curious look, I knew it was due to my strange behaviour, but I still couldn't get used to it.

Finally, I decided to move on and started asking him questions.

"In short, your party consists of a dwarf, a Wolf-kin and two other humans not counting you?" I asked with a slight hint of excitement, almost dropping the end of the dress.

This question rekindled a slight flame of confidence in Akira's voice as he answered me. "That's right! They are very good friends of mine, don't worry, you can trust them. I'm sure they will like you."

Hearing the confidence he gave in his friends, I couldn't deny that I felt lighter. I've never been good at fitting in with groups, but with Akira by my side my confidence has recovered slightly, it's going to be easier, I guess.

Of course I'm going to try harder to fit in, and Akira and his friends are adventurers, so I don't know if they're competent or not, but their experience and adventure will help me get started in a good way.

In fact, everything I know about adventurers, the guild and skills may be skewed by my modern, fantasy view. That's why I decided to ask him for some more details.

"I see, so there is an adventurers' guild?"

When he heard me, I think he was a little surprised by my question, his look clearly indicating his astonishment.

"Obviously, there are a multitude of guilds on the continent, one of the most famous and that of the adventurers, the other being that of the merchants. Of course, the two are somehow related." He said with pride, he seemed happy to be able to inform me. "But why are you asking me this? It's a common acquaintance, you know." He continued by asking me a question which I quickly answered with the answer that I thought was the most believable. For me anyway.

"I lost my memory, the only thing I remember is my name." I said feigning a slight sadness while scratching the back of my head.

Akira stopped dead in his tracks then looked me straight in the eye and unconsciously struck a heroic pose and said, "I see, that explains a lot. But don't worry, I'll protect you until you get your memory back!"

Wow! If I were a horny girl, I think I would immediately jump on him without thinking. I thought with surprise as I watched his confident and demonstrative attitude, but I couldn't deny that I felt safe accompanied by Akira.

I wish I was that confident. It must be second nature to him. I thought with a smile before thanking him sincerely.

"Thank you." He smiled at my thanks.

"There's no worries." He said with a blush as he noticed the position he was in. Then he continued with a slight stammer as he asked me, "Can we be friends?"

Naturally, I was surprised by his request, but I quickly agreed with a sincere smile.

"Aren't we already friends?"

"Great!" He said, jumping up and down with joy.

He's cute, he looks like a kid who got his favorite candy. I thought as I nodded my head with a satisfied smile.

We then continued on our way to the camp, I took the opportunity to ask him more questions about the guilds and how they work.

In short, the adventurers' guild proposes a training for people who want to join it, apparently this training is compulsory for people under fifteen years old, which seems to be my case. This training takes place in a kind of school where several subjects and specialities are taught. Apparently, among young people, there are a lot of deaths due to stupid mistakes, so they set up this system to avoid paperwork and unnecessary deaths. Adulthood starts at fifteen, but I don't know if it's the same for the elves who have a very long life span compared to humans.

By the way, the ranks of the adventurers are divided according to a classification going from the letter S to F, Akira as for him is an adventurer of rank D, which is a very good rank for his age according to what he told me. He could be considered a genius from what I understand. That's reassuring!

As for the S ranks, there are very few of them on the continent, these people are considered monsters in their own right. Their abilities are said to be so superior that they could destroy a country in just one month. They are respected and feared all over the continent, I don't know if they are that strong, but Akira seemed to think so.

"I hope I never have to deal with one of those monsters." I grinned with a slight shiver down my spine. Akira reassured me that they were often on missions and only showed up on special occasions like a king's birthday.

"Either way, I'll be there to protect you." He continues with that same heroic tone.

"Of course, my hero Akira." I say, giving him an amused wink that earns me a strong blush from him.

It's fun to tease him. I think we'll be good friends.

I don't know why, but I have a strong feeling that Akira is destined to play a big role. Of course, he looks like a handsome prince and of course, it's only a feeling, but I can't help thinking that maybe I've finally gone crazy.

Finally, after a few minutes of rather peaceful walking, we could see a bright light and the roof of the tents. As we approached the camp, Akira suddenly stopped and gave me a complicated look.

For some reason, he seemed reluctant to enter. Things don't seem so simple.

Are you sure we've arrived at the right place and not a bandit camp?! I thought as I saw his hesitant look.

"Are you sure it's safe?" I asked him.

If it goes on like this, I'll probably die before I see the light of day.

"Yes, yes. There's nothing to worry about. It's just that they're sleeping right now and I don't want to disturb them. You see..." He replied to me, shaking his head, erasing his complicated look at the same time.

"Hmmm... I see." I replied with a slightly sceptical tone. I have a little doubt, but I'll trust him.

Anyway, Akira wouldn't take us to a place that would kill us both, although he's a bit of an airhead, he's not so stupid to play with our lives.

I wonder what would happen if he did? Well, I'd use my little legs as best I could.

"So, what's the plan?"

"?" Akira tilted his head to the side, you could almost see a question mark hovering over his head.

*sigh*

"Where should I sleep?" I asked politely.

He thought about the question for a few seconds, his brain seemed to be overheated for some reason.

"Oh..." He nodded stupidly as he turned his dark eyes towards me. "I think it would be best if you slept in my tent for tonight." He mumbled the last part innocently with a bright red face, however with my new ears I could hear what he had said quite clearly. (I have a feeling that tonight is going to be something of a complicated night.)

"No worries." I stated, shaking my head with a peaceful smile to show him that there would be no worries. Obviously, I didn't mind sleeping in the same tent as Akira, which he didn't seem to, plus I was a man in my former life.

I'm a man trapped in an extremely cute elf body. That's what I wanted to say to him, but I quickly noticed that it would be extremely strange for both him and me.

"Let's go then." He said as he quietly guided me to his tent. I could visibly see his hesitation, but it didn't last long.

Just as I was about to enter in turn, I heard a loud snoring at the campfire. I shook my head and walked in without thinking too much about it.

I scanned the room, the tent Akira lived in was quite large, there was a bed and a small wooden cabinet with a small candle on it. The atmosphere of this room in the middle of the forest is quite comfortable.

Although in the end, it's still a tent meant for one person, I thought as I gave Akira a slight look who already seemed to be panicking inside. When I saw the sweat dripping profusely from his forehead, I almost laughed thinking about how ridiculous this could all look from an outside perspective.

"I'll sleep on the floor, Yuna, I'll let you take the bed."

"Huh?"

What did he just say? I feel like I've seen this scene somewhere before, a sense of déjà vu.

*Sigh* "Let's both sleep on the bed, there's enough room if we squeeze in a little." I say to him as I calmly walk over to the bed.

Of course, Akira debated for some time before reluctantly accepting.

However, I had to ask him to change before going to sleep since him clothes were still stained with goblin blood. This request got me into another fight in which I swore I could see smoke coming out of his head.

Aldoro's point of view:

Hahaha alcohol is the best! Nothing like it after a hard day fighting monsters.

Hummmm? Where did little Akira go?

Did he just leave without telling us anything? He's going to get in trouble with Lora hahaha...

Not my business anyway, let's go back to drinking, my love.

*Wake up*

Oh, I seem to have reached my limit tonight.

Who is the beautiful girl accompanying Akira to his tent?

I swore I saw someone accompanying him, but this girl is too beautiful, am I still drunk?

This kid is hiding things from us, he could have at least warned good old Uncle Aldoro. I would have given him some tips hahaha...

I'm so proud of you. I thought with a little fatherly tear.

I know someone who is going to be so happy tomorrow morning.

Anyway, not my business, let's get back to that beautiful dream filled with beer and a beautiful woman.
