Echoes of Fire and Shadows

Chapter 83: The Hidden Weapon.

—Julius's POV—

I suddenly found myself in a different plane of reality. The skies were covered with millions upon millions of stars and hundreds of constellations that seemed like a combination of those of Earth and Unitya.

"Where am I?" I asked myself as I raised my upper body.

As I looked around, I discovered the odd yet fantastical landscape that spread in front of me toward the horizon.

Large floating islands with unknown ruins and buildings of stone on top of them. All of those islands had different biomes with unique plants and animals I had never seen before as well as tranquil waterfalls that fell to the void below.

It was a bizarre place. To me it felt like the place was the product of spatial magic or even the Divine Rea of a god… Yet, something in my mind told me that both conclusions were wrong somehow.

"This place… What is this? Why am I here? Is this some sort of trick from Agmos?" As I stood up, I couldn't help but be on alert.

Despite my suspicions, I couldn't detect any danger nearby. On the contrary, my heart only felt at peace in this place.

"Master, you can relax. This is not a trickery of the God of Deceit." A familiar somber voice suddenly reached my ears.

As soon as I turned around, Dying Scarlet appeared in front of me. The scarlet scythe was floating in the air as it approached me.

"Remillia… Where are we?" I asked the sentient weapon.

"This place is the innermost place of your being, Master. We are currently within the insides of your soul. Your essence and everything that makes you yourself is in here, Master." Remillia explained with a serious tone.

"So we are inside my soul… I see… How is this possible? I can understand you being able to reside within my soul, but how could I enter my own soul?" Even though she had answered my question, I was left with a dozen more in my mind.

"This kind of thing is not unheard of. My previous master could access his soul at will. With enough training, you could also do it if you wanted to," The weapon said. "You can think of this place to be similar to the Divine Realms of the gods. They more or less work on the same principles. Here, everything that you desire will be materialized immediately."

"I see… So if it is like that, then…" I closed my eyes and then began to imagine one of my material desires.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw a game console in my hands. It was exactly like I had imagined it.

"Amazing! This is great!" I was obviously excited by the strange phenomenon. "But you still haven't answered my question, Remillia… Why are we here right now? The last thing I remember was that I fainted in the arena after defeating Alberis." I still asked for some clarification on the matter at hand.

"In a moment I shall explain, Master. I believe that we still have to reintroduce ourselves, so… If you'll excuse me." Remillia's usually somber voice sounded different. The weapon was trying to sound composed, yet I could feel the embarrassment beneath its words.

"Reintroduce ourselves? What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"Just watch, Master." Remillia replied, this time with greater embarrassment.

All of a sudden, a black cloud engulfed the abyssal weapon making me completely unable to see the scarlet scythe. However, as soon as the dark cloud dissipated, I was taken aback by what had appeared in front of me…

Remillia had taken the shape of a beautiful young girl with short light blue hair and a pair of horns on top of her head. Her soft and delicate facial features made her look like a doll which had come to life. Also, There was a strange allure in those blood-like red eyes of hers while the bat-like wings she had attached to her back reminded me of a certain vampire from a bullet hell game. She had a pair of long pointy ears and I was able to notice a pair of sharp fangs as well.

She was wearing a white dress with long sleeves and with black lace trimmings and a cute ribbon adorning her neck. She wasn't wearing any shoes though.

She was at least twenty centimeters taller than me, so she was more or less the same height as the twins standing at 1.50 meters tall.

In every aspect imaginable, Remillia resembled a vampire. The actual real ones from this world, of course.

I mean, the fangs, the bat-like wings, the blood red eyes, her shapeshifting powers and also her constant desire to drink my blood to make herself stronger… Yep, that’s a vampire if I ever heard of one. It should have been a dead giveaway the first time she asked for a drop of my blood a few days ago.

Anyway…

Without saying a word, Remillia descended from the air. It wasn’t until her feet touched the ground that she decided to break her silence.

"How is it…? This is the second time you see me like this, so I would like to hear your opinion since I wasn't able to hear it the first time." Remillia spoke to me with a lot of embarrassment. She was trying to hide her face with her bangs…

After examining her a little further, I decided to give her my honest opinion.

“You look cute, very cute in fact.” I said as I walked toward her. I just couldn’t resist giving her some headpats since she looked really adorable.

“Is this necessary, master?” Remillia asked with even more embarrassment.

“Sure is. You and I both did our best during the tournament. You really helped me out more than you can imagine, so this is just me pampering you as a way of thanking you.” I smiled warmly at the girl in front of me. “I wouldn’t mind seeing you more like this back in the real world.” I winked at her.

“I’ll consider it, master…” She immediately averted her gaze.

“Please do. We can’t have a victory banquet without my partner in crime can we? Other than my blood, please tell me if you have a favorite dish so I can make some for you.” I decided to pat her head before giving her a hug.

It was difficult to explain, but after what the two of us have been through together ever since I recovered her from the hands of that Laurent thug, we have a deep bond between us… Rather than awkward, hugging her or patting her head just felt like the most natural thing to do.

“If my master insists then I am left with no choice…” Remillia blushed even more but she accepted my hug.

“I am not forcing you, Remi. If it makes you uncomfortable, you can stay as a scythe or eat separately in another dimension if that’s what you would like. I think that more than master and a weapon, we are companions, aren’t we? So that’s why I want you to decide for yourself.” I had to nudge Scarlet a little to express what she really wanted.

“I want to go… I want to celebrate our triumph with you and your family, even if they are humans…” Remillia seemed rather excited to come now, however, some of her hate for humans was still evident. At least she was no longer openly hostile toward everyone like she was a few days ago.

We definitely need to work on that hate of hers. I know what happened in the past affected Scarlet deeply, but she needs to learn that even though there are quite a lot of bad humans in this world, there’s also quite a lot of good ones. I mean, this could be applied to all people in general. The bad is often louder and more noticeable than the good.

Though, I do not know if I am the appropriate person for that given what happened recently…

"So what's the matter with them being humans? They are still good people, aren't they? You met each of them and spent time with them all, no?" I asked her as I decided to pat her head again.

"Yes… I suppose they are not particularly bad… At least not like the ones that betrayed my previous master." She nodded in agreement.

"I know that you're still angry because of what happened in the past, but I ask you as your master, as your companion and as your friend, that you don't continue to judge people by their race. A person should only be judged by their actions, regardless of race." I smile softly at the devilishly cute vampiric weapon in front of me.

For a moment she looked at me in silence. Her big blood red eyes were completely focused on mine. Remillia then let out a sigh after staring at me for a while.

"If you're asking like that, then I can only promise to try, Master. Though, I cannot promise that I will stop hating humans immediately." She spoke with a serious expression.

"I suppose that is good enough. Tolerance is a good start." I smiled with satisfaction before finally letting go of Remillia.

As I took a step back, I was able to notice a hint of disappointment on Remillia's eyes.

"You can hug me whenever you want, you know? You can ask and I shall oblige." I decided to tease her a little.

"Ah… I see! That's alright, Master! I shall take you upon that offer later!" She looked rather startled due to my sudden teasing attempts. "But this just proves it… This is empirical evidence that my Master is weak in front of cute girls…" She whispered to herself.

Thanks to the most recent events in my life, she wasn't exactly wrong so I decided to pretend I didn't hear her.

"So? Can you finally answer why we are currently inside my soul, Remi?" I asked the murmuring vampiric scythe.

"Ah, well… The reason is pretty simple actually. It has to do with the fact that you…-" Remillia was interrupted before she could finish her sentence.

“Your body was not mature enough to deal with the strain caused by awakening the power of the bloodline of the demon king. As a result, you only went through a partial awakening and your body had to begin to change in order to deal with the after effects of your new evolution.” A childish yet familiar voice spoke from behind me. It was a rather familiar voice… To put it more accurately, it was my voice.

As I turned around, I was welcomed by the sight of another me. A person that looked almost completely identical to me in everything- Almost being the keyword here, as the eyes of this double of mine were neither brown like before my awakening or silver, but blue, and his hair instead of the pitch black I had, he instead had golden hair.

He was wearing the same uniform I wore for the tournament including an identical replica of the bright red scarf I had gotten from the twins.

This carbon copy of myself was sitting atop of an ancient pillar of unknown origin.

“Ah… It’s you Goldy. I was starting to get suspicious since you took so long to appear. Where were you? I thought you wanted to personally explain everything to my master.” Remillia looked rather annoyed at the sudden intrusion of my doppelganger.

“This is uncanny…” I furrowed my brow while feeling slightly uncomfortable.

“You know what they say, your Highness. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.” He smiled confidently before jumping down from the pillar. “I suppose some self-introductions are in order, your Highness. I am the youngest of the Five Abyssals, the weapon linked to the spirit of light, Lumine, the weapon known as Golden Awakening. Though if you wish to learn my true name, you’ll have to accept to become my wielder.” The copycat introduced himself as the other mythical weapon that was lost during the war after landing on the ground.

As soon as he introduced himself, I remembered that after I was able to get back my self control during my fight with Alberis, Remillia mentioned something about Golden Awakening also residing within my soul.

As I looked to my side, I noticed that Remillia was moderately pissed off. She didn’t seem too keen on the idea of sharing me with one of her siblings, but she wasn’t speaking against it either.

“Of course, there’s no need to introduce yourself, your Highness. I already know everything that there is to be known about you and more.” Golden Awakening said before walking towards me.

“You do understand what is going through my mind right now? I’m thinking that this is extremely suspicious. How did you end up here when you were lost after the war and what is your purpose? Are you a friend or are you a foe?” I asked the sentient weapon. I couldn’t help but feel a bit distrustful toward him.

For all I knew, this could be a trick from Agmos to make me lower my guard. Who says he won’t attack me while at my weakest when I have no way to defend my physical body?

Though, soon enough my suspicion and distrust were soon dissipated by the actions of Golden Awakening.

The sentient weapon promptly kneeled in front of me.

“I do understand that you hold suspicions toward me, your Highness. It is only natural, after all I was supposed to be lost to time,” He said while lowering his head. “But allow me to tell you something. I have been since the moment of my creation and I will always be loyal to your ancestor who was our creator and his kin. Your enemies are my enemies. Your friends are my friends. If you wish to discard me or seal me away, I shall accept it. But if you allow me to serve you, I shall be the most capable servant a demon king could have, Lord Crux.” He then lifted his head and made eye contact with me. Those eyes of his held utmost loyalty and devotion. I could tell that he was not lying.

I decided to take a look at Remillia. I wanted to hear her opinion on this.

“Master, Goldy might be a lot of things. A prater, a lazy fool and an annoying little brother, but he is no liar and he is certainly not a traitor. As his older sibling, I can confirm that his loyalty will always be toward you as is mine.” Remillia nodded and spoke in defense of her brother.

“Let’s say I believe you for now, Golden Awakening. You can stand back up as I am not yet a king nor a lord.” I said in response.

“You have my gratitude then, my prince.” He smiled before standing up. I was still weirded out by seeing a carbon copy of myself in front of me.

“Then? Care to explain why you are here? Inside my soul of all places? Also can you elaborate on what happened to my body? You said that it had to begin to change in order to adapt to my new powers, right?” I inquired.

“Please, one question at the time, young princeling.” He said while smiling warmly and raising one of his fingers. “I suppose I shall start by answering your second question.” He rubbed his chin.

He suddenly began to walk around the small island we were on almost as if looking for something…

“There it is! Please give a minute, your Highness.” He said while crouching beside a bush.

Golden Awakening then started grunting as if he was doing something that required him to put an strenuous effort. And then, in the blink of an eye, a gigantic door rose from the ground.

The door was made out of out black stone and looked extremely ominous in nature. Just by looking at it, I could sense what was behind the door… An even greater power that couldn’t possibly be tamed... A cataclysm waiting to happen.

The ominous door was cracked in several places to the point that it almost seemed like it would break down to the touch of a hand.

“What in the blazes is that door…?” I couldn’t help but feel somewhat fearful. Something within myself told me that whatever was behind that door shouldn’t be freed or else calamity would follow.

In response, Golden Awakening remained silent. He just stood up and then walked toward me.

“This is the Door of Awakening. Almost all races possess one of these, but unlike them who usually are never able to open it on their own, you belong to a race who can open it alone if the right conditions are met. This door holds your true power. The power hidden in the most secluded place of your soul. A power that could change your very nature and sense of self…” Golden Awakening said while pointing at the door.

He didn’t need to explain any further for me to understand what had happened to me or what the purpose of the ominous door was…

“You’re saying that if I had opened this door, I would have become a True Demon… I see… The true power of the Demon King’s bloodline lies inside that gate. If that gate was opened, then I would have gone through a full awakening. I would have received an even greater power, but…” As I realized what the purpose of the door was, I couldn’t help but be reminded of my rampage.

“You would have fully lost your mind just like your ancestor and the original demons once did.” Golden Awakening said what I was thinking. “You’re the first one I see in thousands of years capable of opening this door on your own. You were able to almost open it fully in a matter of seconds. If I hadn’t stopped you from opening it at the last second… Well, let’s just say that tragedy would have followed.” He laughed somewhat awkwardly.

“I almost became a True Demon…” I was left shocked by the severity of that realization.

“That’s right.” Golden Awakening confirmed my suspicions. “Though, I said that you were opening the door, but it would be more accurate to say that you were breaking it. I was barely able to stop you from shattering the door completely, hence why it has cracks all over it. Since the door was not fully destroyed, you went through a Partial Awakening of your bloodline.” He smiled with some relief.

True Demons… The primordial variant of the demon race. A species that caused the destruction and the extinction of all life in an entire continent. A variant which has gone extinct since the final days of the Thousand-Year War and the reign of my ancestor, Demon Queen Navar I.

A species with an overwhelming power that few other races could compete with… The reason why all demons and the dark races are feared by everyone in this world.

An entity with enough power to burn down everything in this world…

“I wish it hadn’t come to this, but I was powerless to stop it. Even after thousands of years, I am still not strong enough to protect my master… It is joyous that you awakened a part of your power, Master, but I feel that this could have been prevented… If only I hadn’t been so weak…” Remillia looked completely dejected.

“Remi… That’s simply not true. You did well and you defended me well. I was mediocre when it came to using your power effectively. If I had been better at using your abilities, then Alberis would have never gotten the chance to use his Transcendence. I was the weak one this time. You cannot blame a good weapon for the faults of its wielder.” I tried to comfort her while patting her head again.

“Master…” Remillia’s blood red eyes were focused on mine again. She was trying her hardest to hide the relief and the guilt she felt while hearing my words.

“Yes, yes, you could both take the blame but it won’t change the facts. You were almost defeated and then pushed to your physical, emotional and mental limits. That in combination with the traumas you have from the past was the perfect mix to trigger an awakening.” Golden Awakening sounded a little annoyed.

“This is a bit similar to how your ancestor’s awakening went. The Demon King Bass, our creator, reincarnated himself as a demon. For most of his life, his demon side lay dormant so he appeared to be a common human man, at least he was for all he knew... But then, when the woman he loved was violently taken away from him, his demon side was awakened with full force due to his rage. Anger and resentment were the key to receive the almost limitless power of the demon race.” He said while placing a hand on my shoulder.

“So anger and hate were the key…” I repeated his words while doing some introspection.

I guess it makes sense that I went through an awakening since anger was the key. I know it, deep down, I know I was so full of anger… Toward myself for being weak, toward the man who kidnapped me, toward the adults that I admired but always looked down on for my lack of talent and toward my biological parents for ever putting me in such a position and failing to protect me from everything... I thought I didn’t hold a grudge or harbor any hate against my parents, but I suppose this whole event proves otherwise.

I love them, but at the same time, I can remember all the hurt I felt when I was in their care… I know that they tried their best, but a part of me resents them for not stopping my grandparents and their comments about me earlier or prevent my kidnapping and following torture.

Not only that, no… I do harbor more resentment and anger within myself.. Against Agmos who ruined my first life where I was happy and normal. The Laurents and their goons who made my new family’s life hell just by their mere existence… In a way, this anger was what caused me to almost end lives several times.

It was my subconscious lashing out for losing everything on Earth and being sent away from my home in this world… This was me lashing out at everything like a petulant brat…

“So I risked the life I presently have just because of that… I almost became a walking calamity and almost lost it all due to my own mental instability…” I felt pathetic somehow, even though I had gained an unbelievable amount of power. “Be honest with me, Golden… Do you think if I become angry again, will I fully open this door?” I asked the sentient weapon.

“That depends on you. The chances of something so terrible that could cause your anger to come to the surface are low, but not zero. My advice is that you learn to control your emotions, especially if you don’t want that door to open before you’re ready. You’ll have to face your own traumas and overcome them if you ever want to dominate the power of a True Demon.” Golden Awakening warned me.

“Master, while I agree with Goldy, you must not think that you are a freak or mentally unwell. Demons are known for having very strong emotions, stronger than any other race. It is their greatest virtue as well as their biggest flaw. Even if you were born a human, you still have demon blood in your veins.” Remillia suddenly looked at me and caressed my cheek. “You have been truly happy since you met your adoptive family, haven’t you? I know I am not the one to talk since I still hold deep resentment toward humans and the other races, but I can tell that you’re not like me in that regard.” I was then hugged by her.

“You’re right… These last three years have been blissful, if anything.” I couldn’t help but smile as I remembered my time with my adoptive family. That, in turn, also led me deep to my memories to a time where I was also blissful with my biological parents, which in turn also led me to think of Earth… To my family and friends as well as Claire.

I was also reminded of the deal the gods of Earth had offered me…

“To think that I almost gave up on it all due to a simple temper tantrum… How pathetic of me.” I couldn’t help but laugh at the irony of it all.

I almost destroyed what I wanted to protect. I almost lost myself to my hubris and anger. This cannot happen again. I will make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“We do not think you are pathetic, Master.” Remillia said while hugging me tighter.

“That is true! Unlike our creator who went on a rampage for decades on end, you were able to recover your senses in just a few minutes. Now, I know that it was just a partial awakening, but so far you have been the only one to pull off something like that and you’re also the youngest demon ever to awaken the power of your blood! You're exceptional in every sense of the word. So, don’t beat yourself too much over it.” Golden Awakening spoke with a happy-go-lucky attitude. “Now that you know what happened to you, I can finally explain why you’re here.” He said.

Golden Awakening suddenly snapped his fingers and the ominous Gate of Awakening returned to the ground, leaving no trace that it ever existed.

“As I explained before, your body was not mature enough to handle the strenuous process of an Awakening. That on top of you absorbing millions of spirits to gain more power didn’t make it any better for you.” He motioned me to look over to the other floating islands.

I saw countless small colored lights other than the stars, each floating around and residing peacefully within the space of my soul. Those colored lights were the spirits that I absorbed.

“Those guys… They are here…” I was stunned. I was also glad that they hadn’t ceased to exist.

“They became a part of you as you ordered them.” Golden Awakening said. “Moving on... Do you know why your body wasn’t able to tolerate the strain of the awakening combined with the absorption of these spirits? The answer is simple, you lacked the necessary amount of magical circuits to process the exponential growth in mana and power. It didn’t help that the ones you have right now were not sufficiently mature.” He explained.

Magical Circuits… Just like blood needs veins to travel all over the body, mana needs these circuits to circulate.

“Now, common demons have thrice the amount of magical circuits compared to humans, be it a full-blooded demon or a half-demon, it doesn’t matter. They have three times the amount. Do you understand where I'm getting at?” Golden Awakening asked.

“Yes. Since my body was not mature enough and I lacked the necessary circuits to process my new power, my body began to adapt. So as we speak, I assume that my body is creating those circuits that I need to be able to safely use the enormous power that I got.” I told him the conclusion I had reached after listening to his explanation.

“Exactly. To protect your mind during the process, Remillia and I decided to bring you here so we could have this conversation. So we are the reason why you are inside your soul.” He nodded with satisfaction.

You could have said so from the start… Now I can see why Remillia thinks he is somewhat of a prater.

“Oh, you also kinda forced your body into a growth spurt, so you might look a little different when you wake up. So have fun with that.” Golden Awakening said while winking at me.

His words immediately made me forget about the rude thought I just had about him… All I could hear was that I was finally going to grow taller… I was happy beyond belief!

“Alright, not the worst thing in the world I suppose.” I couldn’t hide the ear-to-ear grin I had on my face. “Now I understand why I am here, you should explain why you are here.” I said to Golden Awakening.

“Oh, that? It is simple really.” He said while scratching the back of his head. “I have always been with you.” He explained in a rather vague way.

“Please elaborate.” I was going to frown, but I was still too happy about my growth spurt.

“Well, I cannot tell you much just yet, but all I can say is that my mission is to aid you.” He again explained vaguely his purpose.

“Why can’t you tell me upfront? Is something preventing you from doing so? Will this make me rage so much that I will become a True Demon?” I asked with concern.

“Not exactly, but knowing this information could potentially alter your actions from now on. It is also a possibility that you could become a True Demon immediately depending if I explain myself incorrectly.” He immediately matched my seriousness. “I will begin at the start. I have orders not to tell you about the specifics of my mission, but I can tell you why I am here in this place.” Golden Awakening was carefully selecting his words in order not to say the wrong thing.

“Ordered by whom?” I asked.

“Our creator, Master.” Remillia answered in her sibling’s stead.

“Order from the Demon King Bass himself?! You have orders from him to help me specifically?!” I was floored by what they had told me.

“More or less. Our creator gave me the explicit order to help one of his descendants for what was to come in the future. He didn’t mention your name or anything regarding you, but he said that I would know who I had to help when I saw them. I knew he was talking about you since the moment you were born. Your soul is frighteningly similar to our creator’s, almost like a copy.” Golden Awakening explained. “For the purpose of my mission, I abandoned my physical body when our creator was slain. More specifically, the moment he knew he was going to be a father again.” He decided to elaborate a little further.

“You’re talking about Navar I… The last child of Bass.” I realized what he was trying to explain almost immediately. “Bass placed you in her soul when Navar I was in the womb of her mother. You have been passed down from parent to child in my family ever since Navar I became a mother herself, all so you could come and aid me?” I asked him to confirm what I was suspecting.

“That is precisely what happened, my prince.” Golden Awakening nodded. “Now… Will you accept my help? Will you accept me as your weapon? I presently do not have a physical body and thus I cannot aid you in an actual fight, but I can give you advice and prevent you from opening the Door of Awakening before you’re actually ready to become a True Demon. I shall put my entire being into serving you, my liege.” Golden Awakening kneeled in front of me again.

I could see it. The sincerity in his eyes. The sincere devotion he had toward his mission, my family, to me and the Original Demon King. Golden Awakening was going to become one of my most important allies in the battles to come. I could tell with my new demon eyes that his intentions were noble.

“You’re aware of what I plan to do, right?” I asked.

“Down to the letter. We will claim your right as the future king of the demons to liberate our people from the armies of angels, we will rise against the treacherous gods that sealed Lord Melius, and we shall vanquish all of our enemies.” He recited most of my desires.

“You forgot two. I want to live in peace with the people I love and I want to protect them even if it costs me my life.” I said as I looked at Remillia and thought of all the important people in my life.

Remillia smiled softly at me while blushing with some embarrassment in her eyes.

“I know. I just wanted to hear the determination of my new master.” Golden Awakening had a mischievous smile on his face. “But you have more desires than just that, my prince.” He said.

"Yes… I suppose you're right about that." I nodded while thinking of the ones that I left behind on Earth.

"Then do not suppress any of them. A king must be a selfish and ambitious person. You must put your own desires above all else.” He said to me.

"Then… Fighting for the good of my family as well as my people and subjects comes before everything else. I shall do as you say." I smirked. "And since I was already rather selfish before, I shall fulfill my every desire in order to live without regrets, both as a king and as the person I am." I said while looking at the starry sky above.

A place where the stars and constellations of two worlds were one and the same, a subconscious acceptance of my origin.

"Well spoken, my prince." Golden Awakening happily nodded. "Then are you prepared to claim me?" He asked.

"I am." I was happy due to the addition of a new ally.

I then placed my hand on Golden Awakening's shoulder and offered him my mana.

"Then I shall pledge my loyalty to you. I shall fight to defend those you care for and to slay all those who threaten us. With me as your weapon, thou shalt not experience defeat." Golden Awakening recited an oath. "Now hear my name, the true name of this Golden Awakening and claim me, my new master! I, the weapon who was given the name Ash shall forever be your guardian." Golden Awakening revealed his true name.

"And I, as the future king of the demons, Crux Julius Navar I, I shall accept you under my wing, youngest of the abyssal weapons." I accepted his vows. "Now rise and fight for your future king, Ash, not as a servant but as a friend and comrade." I said with a smile on my face.

Ash was suddenly taken aback by words. He was not expecting me to end in such a manner. Soon, a confident smile appeared on his face.

"Then I shall do just that, my future king." He rose from the ground. "I shall accomplish my mission and fight by your side as your comrade-in-arms." He offered me his hand for a handshake.

Of course, I had no reason to refuse to shake hands with him. He was my new ally after all. With us shaking our hands, I had become Golden Awakening's master.

“I must admit that you exceeded my expectations. I wasn’t going to reveal myself to you just yet until you were strong enough to endure the process of awakening,” He explained. “You’re certainly a direct descendant of our creator. I’ve seen many talented individuals in your family, and you’re amongst the best of them in spite of how you started.” Ash had a somewhat proud expression on his face.

"Is that so? I’m happy to hear that, but there is much to be done and I need as many allies as I can get." I nodded happily. "For now, it is time to settle things with the gods of Earth." I said as I looked at the starry sky above.

Just wait for me for a little, Claire… I will bring you and everyone here and we will be reunited before you know it.

With this conversation, many mysteries were solved but several more arose in their place.

Why would Bass order Ash to help me? Why would he order him to not say anything about his mission?

Many questions without an answer. Answers that I wouldn't be able to find about until much later.

Heya! Author here back with a new chapter! How are y'all doing? I'm personally doing fine, a bit tired thanks to the gym and my work, but everything is good so far. I won't make any commentaries about this chapter, mainly because I wanna go to sleep and get some rest. Gotta work tomorrow as well lol.

As usual, please don't forget to comment and leave some hearts since that motivates me to continue writing the story! Also, don't forget to join the discord: https://discord.gg/uH6APbzrFR

That will be all for now, peace!
