Prologue
...
The background music was slow, steady and soothing to hear like an opera band was playing right here live on the stage
But it was empty and the sounds are coming from the broken mobile phone with one percent battery begging to plug the charger
In the large dinning Hall which is made to hold the banquets of rich people boarding the cruise that hailed years ago hoping to reach its destination, The resort island
Is a single boy sitting alone on a chair with his fish cake made of raw fish meat and salt, both are taken from the boundless seawater
The same seawater that has swallowed all the countless passengers hope and despairs alike
"Fuu!
Blowing away a flameless single candle embedded on the strage cheap with low effort fish cake
The boy who now turned into a men as per the society, Congratulated himself with a smile
"Happy birthday to me"
With the culinary knifes and spoon he cuts the fish meat and enjoys his dish meanwhile the broken furniture was rolling around in the background aimlessly making creaking noises
The whole ship was rocking back and forth by the waves
"It's good just a little salty" He commented on his own before noticing the music stops midway
"At least it lasted through my celebration" He said with a smile not one bit sad or anything about his situation
As he passed through the corridors of residential room that has nested the people in the past
He saw many blood stains that had dried up long ago with little to no gross stench, the floors, the doors, the walkways there was hardly any spot left aside, Surprisingly he was Unfazed by it
Reaching at the deck He breaths the fresh air devoid of any bloody smell
"Ha... The weather looks nice today" He basked in the Sunlight enjoying the strong winds
Energizing himself for the more upcoming days in this ever changing blue ocean with this empty haunted ship alone
Tinkering of loose steel bars, sea waves thrashing on the deck are the background music here
He was feeling the fresh breeze caressing his body with eyes closed but when he opens his eyes he groans annoyingly
"And here I thought I could finally predict the weather" In this ocean the weather was the most unreliable of all the things
In few minutes the peaceful sunny weather turned into a raging wrath of heavens
Dark clouds covers the entirety of sky, rain poured like needles attacking the seabed
The silent water turned into a giant waves of monstrosities towering above the ships top floor of an abandoned control room
The fresh breeze turned into a typhoon fueling the rage of sea water waves
The rundown cruise ship of 110 meters was like a thin paper boat in this storm
It gets thrashed, toyed around by nature
Devon did nothing but let the nature decide his fate
The ship has runs out of fuel just before the food runs out, Even if he wanted to steer the ship he can't as there was no analog steering it's all electric based controls
The ship rides on a huge waves. Raising it's nose high above pointing straight at the sky before it gets dropped right below
Flooding the deck with waters,Threatening to gets swallowed and sink down only to rises again before getting to repeat the whole ordeal with more impact
One year ago Devon was just an average boy came to enjoy his vacation with his grandma Helen and now he's nothing like his previous self
Devon standing at the edge of the deck in open with his firm grip and some safety belts, Experience this marvelous feeling at front seat
Anybody in his shoes will gets scared silly while Devon was enjoying it with a satisfied smile
He loves the feeling of rising high above and staring down his own doom
There's this thrill he starting to love, Will he survive this time or not
That's the question he asked every time before the ship dropped straight at the ocean flooding the deck high above
He neither prays to gods nor he feels fear his death, for the former he gets tired of praying
He remembers when the food rans out with the drinking water
The people started killing each other, feeding on other human bodies to satiate their hunger
Madness spreads like a contagious disease. He always prayed day in day out, Hoping those monsters will ignore his little self and his only family grandma helen who died while protecting him
The memory was still fresh in his mind of him praying for some miracle to happen while crying near his dead grandma, Hoping she will wake up and will say it's a prank or the whole thing is nothing but a nightmare
For the later he's just tired of living, After killing every single human on the ship with his own two hands in the name of avenging her which is his fault for not protecting her in the first place
He was plagued by the screams of their forgiveness for the crimes he knew they didn't
He was living with this torment alone on this wrecked haunted ship for months reminding him of the humanities cruelty in insanity
Whenever a storm arrives, He could feel the tension inside him rise, Will he survive this time or Die like a mice?
Slowly this becomes a game to him, His life! Becomes a game to him
Making him feel more alive then breathing or eating alone for all the past days alone
"Phyaaa!
Devon spits out the small fish from his mouth before laughing, The water level at the deck was at a dangerous level
"Hahaha!
"Higher! Higher!" He screams as the ship rises high at the top of a wave that can submerged an entire island with ease if hits
His scream of excitement resounded by the thunderous lightning and rumbling of the clouds
"Grandma Helen must have scolded me if she seen me like this" He said with a bittersweet smile
When Devon wakes up today at morning he doesn't know how or why but he could feel that today's will be a special day not because today's his birthday but because he could feel something was going to happen to him he called this as his instinct after surviving for months or maybe it's him finally going insane
As the ship started dropping down Devon embraces himself by gripping the pole
From the sheer gravitational force Devon felt on his body he knew he may not survive this one, Only if he hides in the ship there's this small chance he will see the tomorrows sunlight but he Refused!
It's a chance he was waiting for so long time but his grandma's last wish was ringing in his mind
Telling him to live, To hide, To hope to live even for a second longer
This conflict lasted for one second before he decided to let the fate decide this for him which he knew won't disappoint him and disappoint it did not
The ships nose blasted on impact at the surface sending splitters of steel scraps all around
The impact was too much for a human to keep a hold. Devon loses his grip as he knocked unconscious
The safety belt attached to him also brokes with the second impact of the ships body breaking from the middle
"Huuuuuu
Monstrous wallow of the breaking steel ship resouded throughout tens of kilometers even in the raging storm
On this day let alone him, The ship also gets swallowed by the storm
Putting an end to Devon and his past with more than two hundred missing passengers. No one will know what happened in middle of the ocean
Devon's last thought was of him getting a final relief after knowing he won't survive
He wore a peaceful smile but deep down he hoped for his grandmas wish to get succeeded to wins over his own wish
It's great so far. The grammar needs a solid polish, but the prologue was better than expected.
This is too good to not have it translated properly i don't mind doing free English proofreadings you are close enough that it would only take a few minutes per chapter to fix the incorrect tense, word order, and sentence structure.
You have caught my attention and gotten my interest
