979 entered the cockpit of his Romulus 13 Mech.
"What the heck, it's tighter every day" he grunted as he tucked his cock into his seat, to sit comfortably.
Was his penis growing? Why does it feel more uncomfortable each time he enters his mech? Is someone playing a prank on him?
He looked around and realized that the other mechs were already moving to get into position.
So he closed his cockpit cover and started the mech.
As a manually operated mech, he controlled it with two joysticks with multiple buttons and screens all around him.
His mech joined the others to stand in a formation on top a large platform.
They were divided into 8 squadrons of 50 mechs and each group stood in a square formation awaiting orders.
As a rookie, 979's group was led by 823, a veteran who has fought in 37 battles thus far.
The casualty rate was very high and even 823 was considered a veteran and leader even though she has only been brought here 4 months ago!
"Alright rookies! Our job is to protect the city of the sand. The helpless survivors of the current human race are still living there. We are to minimize the damage as it is one of the few remaining cities on Earth.
We must push the aliens back and close the breach in the force field!" 823 said.
"City of the sand? Maybe it's Las Vegas!" 979 wondered, just as he wondered how he knew what Las Vegas was. As in many of his flashbacks, he remembered flashes of things, but not the whole thing.
He had discovered that 950 and the others had full memories of who they were and how they died. But for him, somehow he didn't remember at all. His friend 912 theorized that perhaps he died from a brain injury or something.
But since they were not allowed to use their names, and were nothing but numbers, they had to live with that. 979 figured he was better off not knowing anyway. If only he didn't keep recalling that shower sex scene that seemed burned into his brain.
The large metallic roof above the large platform opened and group by group, the mechs took off with the rockets in their legs.
979 flew his mech in formation and watched as the squads split up.
He looked at 950's speed mech, heading another direction.
As number 950, she was the last person in another squad, while 979's group consisted of 951 to 999 with 823 leading them.
They flew over the City of Sand, surrounded by the desert. It was a futuristic city, that seemed out of place in the middle of the arid desert.
It was then that he noticed two empty squares on the ground, and a third that was occupied by a pyramid shaped monument.
"Aren't those... the Pyramids of Giza?" 979 asked out loud.
"Yes...the remnant pyramid anyway. Didn't you know that we were located here? It's one of the last outposts on earth with humans still surviving. The rest of the planet has been overrun by Ravagers" 823 said over the communications.
979 looked down and saw a few thousand people rushing to hide in bunkers.
If these were all the people left alive, humanity was in dire straits indeed.
The 8 squads went different directions, protecting each side of the city from 8 directions
979's squad was not very far from 950's squad as both groups faced the desert, away from the city of Cairo.
They headed away from the city, hoping to engage the enemy as far from the city as possible.
Just then, over the horizon, 979 could see small specks of what looked like ants. There were an uncountable number of them.
As they got closer, 979 realized that they were the alien enemy, the Ravagers.
He had seen videos and pictures of them, but seeing them in person was a completely different experience.
They were 3 meters long, moving swiftly on 6 legs. They had grayish black skin with red evil looking eyes and charged at 979's group with wild aband0n.
"Fire at will!" 832 yelled as her blast mech started firing gauss electromagnetic rounds at the monsters.
979 joined his combat mech brethren and fired a salvo of missiles at the approaching army of Ravagers, making the ground shake at the destructive power of their missiles.
However, more from behind them simply charged forwards as if they were unfazed by the missile salvo. These monsters felt no fear or pain and seemed to be in a frenzy.
"Chaaaaarge!" 979 heard many of his fellow designated numbers scream as they charged with their photon rifles.
He joined them, his mech shooting his photon rifle with one arm and swinging his plasma battle axe with the other.
"Aaaah" the mech next to him, piloted by a Latino looking guy designated 978 screamed as multiple Ravagers overwhelmed his mech, climbing on to and toppling the mech to the ground.
Each mech was around 5 to 8 meters tall, and the Combat mechs like 979's Romulus 13 were among the largest at 8 meters.
978's mech was also a combat mech but a type Reiziger 4, which was similar in height but had a different configuration.
978 panicked and fired his photon cannon randomly as the Ravagers started tearing away at his armor.
The photon blast hit the nearby 1002 by accident, causing her mech to falter as several Ravager's brought her Blast mech to the ground
"Fuck, this isn't looking good" 979 thought as he continued blasting as many Ravagers as he could but used hid battle axe to swat the Ravagers off 978's mech
In the near distance, he saw 1002's shields collapse as the Ravager broke into her cockpit savagely.
The monster lifted it's head, ripping 1002 in half, with 1002's intestines hanging out of it's mouth as it chewed her upper body.
Her lower body was still seated in the cockpit with blood and gore everywhere.
"No! 1002!" 979 yelled
979 remembered 1002 as a quiet girl. 950 had teased him that she thought that 1002 had a crush on him.
But he never took the time to talk to her and instead had spent his time courting 950.
Suddenly, his head pounded as did his balls as a incredible surge of adrenaline flowed through his body.
He felt his heart beat pound faster and harder, and his vision turned red.
979 smashed the last Ravager on 978 and pulled his mech up as he rushed to kill the Ravager that still had parts of 1002 sticking out of its teeth.
His axe cut the Ravager in half, from the top of it's head to the waist
It felt as if everything was moving in slow motion as 979 charged like a madman towards the enemy
"No! 979 don't rush ahead! Hold the line!" 823 yelled after him, but he was no longer listening.
979's Romulus 13 charged in a unnaturally fast manner, looking so bizarre as if it was moving in fast forwards
The Ravagers were being slaughtered like chickens and the number of them being killed with every swipe of 979's axe was incredible.
"Fuck! Look at him go! Follow him!" 823 yelled as she followed 979's trail of dead bodies
979's mindless rage lasted for an unknown amount of time as the Ravager bodies piled up around him as he was no longer able to move a step forwards due to being surrounded by the monsters.
He was brought down many times, only for him to use his jets on his mech feet to get up again.
The mech was already missing it's left leg and was standing unevenly on one leg.
He had fought all the way to the breach, and the amount of dead bodies around him were blocking more Ravagers from entering through the breach in the force field.
He only needed to push them out a bit, allowing the hole to close.
But that was not to be as his weapons started failing on him.
The plasma axe started sputtering as the plasma edge shorted out from overuse, so he picked up his broken left leg and used it like a heavy club to try to club the Ravagers out.
He had already exhausted his supply of rockets and missiles and was only using his leg and his durability as his weapons.
He used his jets to propel his body to ram into groups of monsters with his body, hoping to push them out. His plasma shield also had already shorted out and he was only relying on his Carbonium mech body.
But using his mech body was taking its toll too. The mech had so much of it broken off, it barely protected him in the cockpit.
"Fuck!" 979 cursed as his joystick in his right hand broke off the console as he tried to force the mech to move a certain way.
Just then a Ravager took out his remaining leg as the mech fell to the ground.
A Ravager jumped onto the mech, ripping off the remaining durable layer protecting 979 in his cockpit.
It was then that 823 and the rest of her squad finally arrived, all battle worn and with damage to their mechs.
But 979 didn't notice them as he was staring face to face with an ugly beast that could eat him whole.
"No!" 823 screamed as the Ravager dove its head into the cockpit to eat 979
979 reacted and felt a throbbing headache like which he's never experienced before.
His head was pounding so badly, his nose started bleeding.
But somehow the monster was blasted backwards, smashing through the Ravagers that were trying to get in through the breach.
823 and her squad saw the opportunity and fired everything they had at the breach!
Their plasma blasts and missiles exploded, destroying all the Ravagers trying to get in, allowing just enough time for the force field to close back up.
Having used up all their ammo, the squad had to fight the remaining Ravagers trapped in the force field with them, which still numbered in the hundreds.
823's mech grabbed the top of the heavily damaged mech, dragging 979 and his mech away.
Seeing that he was being dragged away from the battle, and seeing his comrades cover their escape, 979's body suddenly went limp.
His heart rate started dropping as all the adrenaline left his body, leaving him feeling extremely exhausted.
He felt himself losing consciousness as his comrades retreated back to their base.
The last thing he saw was the other mechs fighting the remaining Ravagers.
--
"979!" he heard as he opened his eyes, to see 950 seated next to him on a nearby chair in his bed in the medical ward.
"Where...am I?" he asked, looking all around him as several badly injured people were around in the other beds.
"You're in the medical ward. Miranda the Watcher said your heroic acts saved Squads 3 and 4 from severe casualties. You're a hero" she smiled.
"What do you mean? What happened to the other squads?" 979 asked
"Of your squad, 42 of your squad survived. That was mainly due to your heroic acts of literally plugging your breach all by yourself and preventing more Ravagers from coming in.
Because of that, 39 of your team that were still functioning well joined my squad and helped us with our breach.
Squads 1 and 2 that had considerably more experience lost more than half their squad, and squad 8 managed to close their breach by sacrificing everyone in their team!
Squad 7 failed their mission and the remainder of us from squads 1 to 4 had to go for a second mission to close the breach that Squad 7 failed to close.
We lost over 34 members in that battle" 950 said
"Did.. you join that mission?" 979 asked
"No. My mech was too heavily damaged. I had to sit this one out" she said
"Thank heavens" 979 said as they hugged.
Feeling her breasts press on his chest, it somehow felt familiar, and the thought of the shower scene with that unknown woman again plagued his thoughts, but he forced it out of his mind.

Why do I feel l 950 is the MC wife
Shhhhh
Interesting but I’m still salty from those first two chapters.
I didn’t expect a mech story but I’ll keep reading, just to see what sh*t goes from now on, and to hope for revenge.
