Hey everyone! I would say I hope you all enjoyed your holiday. But, I know that I have a lot of international readers so that may not be accurate. Regardless, I hope you're all having a great time! So getting to business... How do you feel about a bisexual protagonist/characters?
The thing that inspired me to ask this question was the comments on Rumor Has It. It seemed like some people were intrigued by the idea of BL? So I thought, why not? I also thought about maybe adding some scenes in the future that feature some Yuri in it? I would like to challenge myself and write it!
But! Before I do anything! I thought it would be a good idea to ask you all first! Especially after what happened with Saya... I intended to make her an unlikable character, but I think I did too much of a good job. That and the NTR stuff which I didn't think was NTR at the time and didn't think it would be a big deal in the long run. Okay, I also wanted to rant a bit! I have this story posted on other sites, and the amount of bullshit that I've been going through because of those decisions have been astounding!
Okay, rant over!
So what do you think? Is it a good idea? Or a bad idea? If you can, please explain in detail in the comment section about your decision and the reasoning behind it. Oh, and before I forget! As you can see from the tags, there will be smut in this story. So I may include BL and Yuri scenes. But, if you do want BL and Yuri in the story, but not the sex scenes, please let me know?!
As always, thanks for reading! Stay safe and have a great one!
I think it is possible to write astoundingly good about such characters but not involve them being bi or anything near it. The mc's reaction to the hit could be a very great teaser for a plot point ahead or an interesting Backstorys. I like that option because many stories jump to explaining stories without instead of teasing it or making a reader ponder about it. To me i think making the charas bi would only make the story lose some potential but i wont say anything about what you choose to do.
I understand where you're coming from. Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it!
disclaimer: english is my second language so.... welcome to grammar hell!!! maybe?
1º thing i would like to say how much i like your novel(keep the good work)
now lets talk about my opnion about BL. I dislike it... some people will say that im a hipocrite cause i read ORV, but i still dislike BL
2ºthing i dont understand how u tried to make saya unlikeable, well i read Brandon Sanderson books, and i can say that your female character shy in comparison of His characters pure annoyance... so i really liked saya. well about the NTR i didnt find any on the novel so i think u clear on that(where the hell even is the ntr wtf)
in conclusion i really like your novel, i like saya and i think that your decisions in this point of the story are not ntr and are just part of her character development(we need to protecrt saya from society), well after both mc and saya start a relationship and she continue being a hooker... that would be ntr.about BL and SMUT i dislike BL theres not much to talk about it, but about the smut would be really nice with u put a * in the chapter and mark where it begins and ends, because i read novels in my workplace(dont tell my boss)
Oh my God! Thank you so much! Thank you for your input.
boss gone catch you reading smut. you better have your mouse hovering over another tab bud
@DutyInternal im the fastest alt+tab in the wild west
ok sorry but the bl is not my type because i usuly i feel personify by the mc, and if you put bl i gonna disconnect with the story so is not for me
That's understandable. I appreciate you letting me know.
As long as the bisexual characters are women who keep it in the harem I'm fine with it, but if they start sleeping with a whole lot of characters who the mc doesn't get to then it would start to feel uncomfortably like cheating to me
I respect your opinion. I get that.
Generally, I don't have a problem with BL or Yuri. I don't read it, but I don't care if it shows up. I can just skip the scenes...
That said, I can't see it for this MC. Dude was 100% Incel and jumped at the chance to go to Waifu World so fast he didn't even stop to think about what was happening. I *cannot* see the MC being into dudes, especially with how he probably ended up stiffed by handsome boys over girls he did like back in his original world.
That's a good point actually. I didn't think about it that way. Thanks for letting me know.
I don't have a problem with bi characters, but most of the stories I read involve no BL. I choose no because it's something I generally don't read.
That's fair. I completely understand. Thank you for letting me know.
Can I say f*ck no unless it's female
I think you should stick to your guns and write what you want to write. If you censor the Saya content and turn her into just another cliche girl that is passive and non-violent, then you won't be making anything new.
As a bi gremlin I'm sad I won't see it. But I also understand. Too bad, cause bi main characters almost never show up.
Personally it is more about what their established orientation is. Basically I have no trouble with bisexual characters, but it is good if that is known in advance. Saya is already mentioned as one, so that's fine. Jeff on the other hand is clearly uninterested in guys, so it would be a slap in the face if he became bi. Jason could be bi since it was never established what his preferences were, but it feels funnier if he is gay and only has eyes for the MC at school (long term I hope he finds a nice guy that can return his feelings).
I also don't like it when the whole harem is conveniently bi. It feels unnatural, and objectifies them too much. I mean it is okay if they are willing to interact in a group setting, but it feels weird if they are all happy just doing it with other girls. Of course there is nothing wrong with specific members being bi, just it seems weird that they all end up that way.
Completely understandable. I respect that.
