A pleasant smile formed on the face of the pale lady as her footsteps softly echoed through the spacious interior. The space remained pristine, just as how she expected.

After all – only Black and herself were ever allowed to board the magnificent airship.

Within the heart of the behemoth, was a section devoted to the living quarters for the two Commanders. Yet, as she passed through a vast corridor, other rooms were also fixed to the sides, each painted in a different colour.

Then, when she made it to the depths of the quarters, she abruptly stopped.

“Masterfully done. As expected of us.”

The beautiful space, which was built solely by Black, made her smile uncharacteristically.

Fixtures remained untouched in the solemn silence, while the majestic architecture gave life to the black and white room. In the centre, was a large floating crystal, containing a swirling essence of black and white.

This place, other than the weapons fitted into their prized fortress, was given the most attention to. It mimicked their home world’s theme of the colours.

After all, their world was called the Colour Plane. And for a good reason at that.

She proudly spun, her pale cape fluttering like wings behind her as she backtracked through the hollow corridor with content. Exiting through an assortment of automatic doors, she eventually reached a metallic room situated closer to the deck above.

When she entered, a figure greeted her with only a glance.

“How’s the living quarters? I made sure to keep the essence of the Colour Plane in mind when I built that.”

“It’s wonderful. Although it’ll quickly get lonely with just us two here.”

White’s steps clanked against the metal surface.

Black didn’t pay any attention to the advancing White. The world outside was far more entertaining to the wicked woman.

In the metal space, various machinery infused with magic proved this place to be the control room of the airship. Black intently watched the world below through a large magical monitor.

It was linked to the many scrying crystals embedded into the underside of the ship. With such remarkable resolution, even Black couldn’t help but to be awed every time she’d peep through.

“The town’s folk aren’t putting up a fight. It’s just a one-sided slaughter. What weak willed humans they are. We might as well carpet bomb them with all the explosive barrels we have.”

“Please don’t. We won’t have enough biomass to sustain this ship. Besides… my hunger won’t sate with grainy flesh. I prefer my meals fresh, and live.”

White wore a perplexed face as she licked her dry lips. The fresh blood that was spilt in the town beneath them by their foot soldiers tickled her throat.

The vast systems laid across the room marvelled the woman for the time being. The illusive weaponry the airship wielded were created by both Black and herself. They fitted them with strategic intelligence, considering that the remodelling of the airship was only in its early stage.

The airship was an amalgamation of otherworldly weaponry and magic.

Magic kept the ship afloat, while the giant propellers fitted across the ship gave it thrust. But the energy consumption was far too great to keep it afloat, especially with the inefficient mana. They therefore relied on the biomass of any creatures they could find.

Including humans.

“How should we go about telling the soldiers to pile the bodies in one heap?”

White wishfully asked as the monitor revealed some resistance shown from the town’s inhabitants.

“Pitiful. But the adrenaline in their last moments does make their blood taste all the better.”

“I know you’re a vampire, but tone it down a little. If you want blood now, then just take some of mine.”

Black willingly offered her delectable nape, but the crimson-eyed woman firmly declined.

“I’ll use the demi-human slaves we took in as food, then I should return to normal.”

“Hey. Leave the slaves out of this. While they were in the territory of the enemies, and even served them, they’re still not our enemies. More than anything, we can weaponize their hatred and create a more loyal force than the soldiers of Pathfist.”

Her furrowed brows and complex face caused White to grin as she slid a finger across the systems.

“You have a point. They’re definitely wiser than humans, and have honed instincts to identify superior beings. I’ll believe in your judgement, Black Heart.”

The spoken name loosened the tense Black as she dug into her pockets. Held in front of her, was a colourless fob watch which shone a gentle yellow and reflected the calm purple eyes of the smiling woman.

It brought her back to her world for a moment. The Colour Plane – a place where beings called Colours resided. Every thought, every concept, and every reality derived of a colour would merge with their world.

In a literal sense – their world was an amalgamation of everything related to their colours.

“Try to not call me that until we’re ready to go at it again. I’m already homesick from seeing all the greenery in this world.”

“Hmm. It’s fine for me.”

“Is it? Good for you. Hah… just what is this world, anyway?”

She returned the watch into her pockets and plastered her eyes onto White.

“I don’t know either, since the other worlds seem oddly attached to this one. Guess it’s another reason to get rid of the Maiden of Realms.”

“… Right.”

Black was slightly conflicted, but her reasoning remained hidden beneath the soft smile left on her face.

Avoiding the monitor, White hummed and brought up another important topic to discuss.

“Who’s the closest from here?”

An ambiguous question at face value, but Black knew exactly what she meant.

“Yellow. Straight ahead, but the signal’s been dimming ever since. Think she’s caught onto us?”

Black checked the watch once more for confirmation.

“I wouldn’t be surprised. Yellow’s always been the most animalistic of us. And with only mirrors to hide us from plain sight – its only natural that she’d notice the abnormality in the sky.”

It was disappointing, but they couldn’t turn away from reality. They didn’t have the resources to perfect their camouflage technology. Despite this, they held no intention to back off from their chase.

“She can run along all she wants. It’ll give us something to do other than feeding for our energy needs.”

White hummed and passed her, whispering:

“What do you think of our odds against the Maidens, even with our full strength.”

“Futile.” Black’s response was as sharp as her side-long gaze. “It would take another Maiden to even stand a chance of defeating them.”

“And the Exrenity? Or even the Frostbitten?”

“… I want to say ‘no’, but I’m not sure. They’re not as unmalleable as we are. Surely, they can change and best the odds. Just not in their current state. Not by a long shot.”

They were weapons at heart. In the Colour Plane, they only existed for one thing and one thing only – to eternally fight the other Colours. Over and over, they’d be replaced with newer generations as the corpses of the previous Colours forged the landscapes of their home.

Only a single Colour could exist at one given time. When one perished, another would rise.

“Nothing about the Exrenity struck me as ‘the one’. They’re as barebone and ununique as a human could get.”

“We don’t know that. I used to be a… yeah, ‘kind’ girl many years ago. But look at me now – I'm embracing the death of my previous brethren.”

Black brought her gloved hands to her face before they clenched with a soft squeak.

“I’m more interested in how he’ll change. Maybe, unlike myself, he’ll break when he finally loses the last bit of his humanity. But I want to be proven wrong – I want to see the beauty that lies in the depths of the abyss.”

A pale hand gently caressed her cheek.

“Delectable. Maybe I too, can rejoice with a delicious meal at that time. Let’s hope he doesn’t disappoint.”

“Hmm. Yeah- Ah-! Tell me when you’re going to bite!”

A pair of razor-sharp teeth sunk into the soft neck of Black as she growled and gently pressed herself against the feeding White. While it hurt at first, it was rather relaxing to have her blood taken, especially with how cool White’s body was.

While stuck in what seemed like a lover’s one-sided embrace, Black softly smiled and glanced at the watch for one final time.

“Don’t disappoint us, Exrenity and Frostbitten.”
