Allan's POV

“Watch out!” Enya shouted at us, having noticed the beasts were swimming around us, circling us and waiting for a chance to attack. We were growing increasingly nervous as they surrounded us in the water below with fervor.

Everyone made a break for it for the air, with me summoning Minya again, having the ‘flightless’ among us climbing unto it to hurry our escape. It was just in time before the Great White Abyss Shark from earlier got impatient and snapped its maws upon where we once stood, unleashing a high-powered energy blast that caused dissonance in the waves, making the water to swish back and forth like a heavy storm was about to unfurl.

We stared at the energy blast attack that had been meant for us with awe. It was might that desired to pull the forces of nature apart, devouring its will and replacing it with its own: true S-class magic. The sight where the blast took place seemed to be claimed by the energy of the Abyss Shark, with its original intent lingering even after the attack was over. How these dungeon beasts managed to improve their capabilities to such level despite their lack of a fully-developed consciousness astonished myself and the others.

Soon, afterward, the ‘rogue’ acted again.

“So, how are we going to do this?” He said, terribly excited at the prospect of battle with the creatures below. It was obvious on his face. You could feel the spike in murderous intent and blood permeating his aura. He looked at the Shark from earlier like a predator; a creature that wouldn’t escape the death sentence at his hand.

Nonchalantly and without any warning, he jumped back down into the waters, using himself as bait to lure in his target. At this point, he’d already made his choice about who he was going after. Unexpectedly, however, so did Marcel!

“Marcel~!” Shalia yelled as he made a free fall back into the water; the princess scared for his safety. Gosh, he was being so reckless!

Marcel, however, pulled out Sigurd and swiftly froze the water’s surface into a blanket of crystal-clear ice, trapping Enya and his target underneath the water. He was trying to maybe establish some kind of perimeter within which to fight the Great White Abyss Shark, intentionally leaving enough room for the other two unwounded dungeon beasts to escape.

The Great Water Serpent transformed its head into a conic shape to break through the ice, coming unto the surface before beginning to break apart the ice Marcel had created with Sigurd. It did so in a fifty-meter radius of it with some kind of innate skill. It was probably [Water Domination], the same skill it had used to transform its head into a conic shape earlier, allowing all forms of water to obey it within certain perimeters. This time, it was molecularly disassembling the ice back into water around it, creating a sort of pool within the giant ice sheet Marcel had made.

The Great White Whale, meanwhile, just rammed through the ice sheet with its 70-meter-long body, crumbling apart most of the ice sheet and leaving the rest of its destruction to the aftereffects of its body movements. It then let out a deafening sound that threatened to kill our sensitive ears and rapture organs. The A-classes among us felt the effects clearer than say, Gwendal and I.

So, great! It had taken down the ice sheet Marcel had painstakingly made and also already done some damage. Now what?!

“So, how are we going to do this?” Silva asked, “Cause I’ll be support!” Confident as always, I see. Although she designated herself as support, she was probably going to use some crazy composite spell to do the most damage. She was pretty shameless, as usual!

Unexpectedly, Kenny answered first, “Um, that one!”, pointing at the water serpent. It was like he knew exactly what I was thinking. That was going to be my target of choice.

“I’ll go with the whale one! It looks like the biggest target, meaning that I can cut a lot more than usual.” Valeria also made her choice.

“But we were going to choose that one, right, brothers?” Evan whined, looking dissatisfied. After all, they planned to do ‘that’ to better fight against the beast. They rarely had the opportunity to do ‘that’ too~

Valeria understood what he meant almost instantly and sighed disappointedly, “Fine! I’ll choose the snake then. It looks big too, though it will probably be slippery and slimy. Ugh!” She really didn’t want that target, but oh, well~.

“I’ll also be support then!” Gwendal assigned himself a position he’d quickly switch from, or will he? I really don’t know what that guy’s thinking sometimes, as simple as it may be to read his mindset most of the time.

Sigh! Fine, that just leaves me then! I’ll handle doing some damage to the whale, despite how it’ll mean that I won’t get to be by Marcel’s side~~” Dramatic as always, Shalia! She didn’t want to get in Marcel’s way when he already seems to have figured out how he was going to fight the beast he chose. Despite being a B-class, he won’t have many issues, especially with ‘that man’ as the main fighting force against that beast.

“Then, you all, try not to die!” I said to them before we split off into separate teams as follows:

Team Shark: Marcel and Enya.

Team Whale: Thunderbeast brothers and Shalia.

Team Snake: Kensuke, myself and Valeria.

Team Support: Gwendal and Silva.

And so, the battle begun...

From the get-go, Silva began casting, what did I say earlier, a major composite spell of wind and water, ‘Blooming Blade Vortex Begonia’, a giant flower that shot heavily-pressurized water blades at incredibly high speeds at her command. She supported us, instantly becoming our main attack force. Figures, right?

She attacked the snake with unrelenting force, sending blade after blade at it. Fighting a water dungeon beast with water, how ironic!

Since she was doing so well, I just summoned Mater Athena and asked her to aid the brute of a maiden to kill the snake a level higher than her. Mater Athena didn’t hesitate to power up her spell, increasing her chances of maybe killing the S-rank dungeon beast from an earlier 10-20% to almost 40%. I definitely like those odds!

Kenny, meanwhile, pulled out a giant broadsword and... much to my surprise, he was walking on water compared to earlier when he couldn’t.

Seriously, he’d attached curses to his boots in the heat of the moments and just like that, he was doing it. Walking on water, he swung his sword around and at the snake. I couldn’t help but say, “Go! Go!!” as he grabbed the Water Serpent and bashed it senseless with his weapon’s blunt side, occasionally making way as not to get between the snake and Silva’s wonderful gift of water blade barrages.

While Silva attacked the snake dungeon beast with her flower cannon, I acted as the actual support in more ways than one, also sending Galvan, a lightning spell phantom, to aid the thunderbeast brothers in their fight against the Great White Whale. It doesn’t seem like Silva will be going anywhere anytime soon.

Valeria, meanwhile, covered making sure that Silva’s attacks would hit, luring the Water Serpent with her constant teasing attacks before it took the real damage when Silva’s surprise was ready. She also made sure to cover for Kensuke.

As for how the other teams were faring in comparison to ours, I’d say, pretty well!

On Team Whale, the thunderbeast brothers had done ‘that’. They’d transformed back into their true forms as semi-spiritual beings and part of the forces of nature, unparalleled lightning that could easily deal with water dungeon beasts.

They called down lightning to rain down on the whale, immobilizing the behemoth. They did a pretty good job of separating the Great White Whale from the other two beasts by merging into one to create lightning storms, blasting any dungeon beasts who came close to the whale, even the small ones in the water. They were doing so well that you’d wonder why they didn’t transform into and fight in their true forms more often.

Easy answer: It’s hard to move around and well, not singe things into dust as thunderbeasts, especially evolving A-rank ones.

As for Shalia, she picked at the smaller White Whales with immense ire at not being able to be at Marcel’s side. Her immensely hot Sunfire flames made the dungeon beast’s protection against heat obsolete, essentially roasting them alive in her fury. If one got too close without her notice, her contracted humanoid spirits of fire, earth and wind along with the small formless spirits would quickly send them to the afterlife. Spirits with favorite mortals are no joke!

Narrator’s POV

Things seemed to be going fairly well. Despite that, nothing game-changing was happening to swing the overall progress to any of the two sides: be it for Marcel and company or the dungeon beasts intent on killing them.

Team Shark, Whale and Serpent each went at their opponents, cutting away at them by the second without much effort, but for some reason, they could feel that something was amiss.

The enemies’ regeneration and physical capabilities as well as their intelligence was nothing unlike other dungeon beasts. The enemy was learning from their attacks and slowly adapting. At the rate they were moving at, things would soon not look too good for them.

“Woah!” Marcel exclaimed as he dodged a pressurized water beam attack launched at him by the Great White Shark with Enya.

“Hahaha~,” Enya laughed at Marcel’s silly caution against their opponent’s attack. It wasn’t ‘even that powerful’; just a simple A-ranked attack. Why was he acting like he was going to die, with him around to watch his back. Enya just couldn’t get it!

Striking at the Great White Abyss Shark again with his spear when its attack was over, Enya drained its life force, slowing down its speed of regeneration, all while he paid some attention to the other teams. He couldn’t help but comment,

“They are actually doing pretty well!” He said regarding the other teams who didn’t require him rescue them just yet. They are fighting S-ranked dungeon beasts and so far, they aren’t dead or shaking in their boots with despair. It's either they haven’t realize how devastating the power of the three dungeon beasts are, or they’re just incredibly oblivious towards danger.

“Yeah, they’re just best!” Marcel replied, thinking something else entirely. Unlike him, they were A-rank existences, with some being even half S-rank. Of course, they’d be able to protect themselves much better than he could, seeing their respective backgrounds and capabilities. In this moment, he felt proud to know them, but strangely, also a bit inadequate.

“Don’t worry at all... hngh!” Enya stabbed the shark again with immense force, “You’ll be there too in no time!” Enya exclaimed, dragging his powerful spear across the shark skin to cut it wide open. He wanted to pat Marcel’s head so badly, but that would have to come later.

Marcel quickly recovered and continued to assist him.

“Sigurd!” Marcel’s sword responded when its master called. It knew exactly what to do.

To stop the Great White Abyss Shark from healing back up again, Marcel had Sigurd freeze the water and moisture across the cut Enya had made into ice crystals, then quickly, into shards of ice, impeding it from regenerating again.

Enya, “Good job!” He continued to stab and cut at the shark and Marcel froze the stab areas, further hindering its regeneration. The Shark squirmed and attempted to flee the perimeter to no avail thanks to Gwendal’s rune command to imprison the three beasts within a certain range after they each picked a team.

The two chased after it with much fervor. With each stab and cut, Enya’s spear drained it even more of its life force, making its time of death approach faster with each second that passed.

Enya delivered the finishing blow with an energy-covered spear attack and a swift abdomen slash where Marcel had stopped it most of its regeneration attempts at, bisecting it to death. You could say that it was a swift way to go for a creature that crossed Enya.

It was dead!

“Now, off to the next target,” Enya thought before he caught a glimpse of Marcel’s horrified face.

Marcel had jumped out of the way, but he hadn’t. Why?

Unfortunately, the shark had one last surprise left to show them!

With its dying breath, the Great White Abyss Shark performed a suicide attack.

Leaping towards Enya, it used the last of its remaining strength and magic power to turn its upper half into a water prison. The shark-shaped water prison grew maws and were sicked at Enya from below, with numerous rows of shark teeth appearing from the prison’s surface. These teeth then proceeded to sink into and ripped Enya’s body, upon contact, into shreds, taking down their creator’s killer remaining with the dungeon beast.

After that, the shark finally died, the water prison formed from its upper bisected half now filled with the devoured Enya’s blood. It was the only part of it that remained, along with its severed lower half.

They couldn’t believe it! Enya... was dead! One second, he was there, then suddenly, he’s dead, his blood swimming in a shark-shaped water prison being what was left of him.

All of friends, especially Marcel, looked in disbelief, taking focus off their battles to watch the site where Enya died with the beast.

Marcel just stood there, stuck in place. Whether it was due to the shock of suddenly seeing his potential boyfriend violently murdered by the final attack of a desperate dungeon beast, or simply because he was overwhelmed by everything else that he could be feeling at that moment.

He was frozen stuck to the water’s surface, his face displaying his shock in full view. The others, however, could feel something brewing up inside the little guy, even with their concentrations have taken by their battles.

Uh-oh, it’s pretty bad! They could feel it! Marcel was starting to feel distressed, and you know what happens when Marcel bounces between extreme emotional turmoil. They could feel that something foreign which appeared inside him when he was about to let his more murderous and emotionless side free. Looks like he doesn't want to feel anymore!

Just as Marcel was unconsciously giving control to Kill-switch Marcel, however, something almost miraculous happened.

Enya… you know, the same one they thought just dead, started gathering himself back together and… yeah, resurrected!

Enya resurrected.

Yes, like what the hell! He almost let Marcel released his killing machine alter ego for nothing at all! The bastard potentially got them all in danger and he just resurrected. Tch, he should have stayed just dead!

“Enya!?” Marcel uttered as he watched his beloved reform inside the shark-shaped water prison, putting himself mostly back together from his remains present inside the blood-soaked prison before the lost parts regrew like magic.

He put himself back in the span of several minutes, just enough time to pull Marcel and company out of a daze and the two remaining dungeon beasts in shock. He was done, like brand-new, and frankly, he was tired of how long he'd let this farce go on.

Spoiler alert: Things are about to get very unbelievable.

Enya ripped the water prison apart and its contents pooled back into the water below. He stood on the water’s surface once more, dripping in bloody water. He looked particularly vexed and his blood red eyes flared an abnormally darker color that completely changed the atmosphere.

With a smirk on his face, he proceeded to stretch, proceeded to wink at his favorite person, obviously Marcel, before suddenly pulling a round orb the size of two fists out from midair. With that scary smirk still on, he bit into the orb.

Upon Enya biting into the orb, the remaining lower half of the Great White Abyss Shark dissolved into a terrifyingly high volume of water, which flooded Gwendal’s rune cage, overwhelming everything within it in water.

Shit, this beast had an elemental base body kept together by a magic crystal core!

So, what’s an elemental base body, you may ask?

It’s a type of physical body that can be acquired after S-rank evolution usually seem amongst dungeon beasts of one nature which allows them to shed their original bodies to rebuild a new one holding an immense amount of their affined natural element. In this case, you can probably guess that the Shark was practically a lake of heavily condensed water, which explains why when the thing that kept its body stable, the magic crystal core at its center, exploded, it returned back to its original form.

Haa, let’s just hope that the other ones aren’t the same.

Eh, who am I kidding?!

Sorry, Marcel and friends, but unfortunately, things are about to get a whole lot crazier. You see… Enya is… already bored!

Take note, guys! Bored Enya is never a good sign! Believe me, the way he acts when his boredom takes over can be, um… pretty bad.

With that terrifying smirk still plastered across his mug, he… rushed over to the whale at sonic speed, launching it into the air, isolating it from its preferred element below.

To Gwendal’s and all their surprises, the kick that launched the Great White Whale up was powerful enough to cause a giant breech in the Ravencaster’s rune boundary, shattering it almost completely as if fragile glass. Just how much physical force does one need to breech something created with the world’s assistance with physical strength alone???

Yeah, Enya was turning up to be one of the strongest combatants they’d ever managed to witness in action; definitely beyond the first and at least, second: SS-rank.

Enya leaped towards the flying dungeon beast, reaching it almost instantaneously. Appearing next to the beast's abdomen, he stomped on it before turning his foot and launching it back down into the water with immense force.

He… ripped the Great White Whale in half with the impact; the force of the subsequent wave that formed with the descent back down big enough to almost bury the shocked youngings who’d been watching from their original teams below.

He was, unfortunately for the whale, not done with it yet, as he suddenly held in his hand the base of its body, its magic crystal core, because, of course, it had one too! Haa…

Since Enya had its core in his hands, he wasn’t very worried about it maybe regenerating and posing a threat again. After all, he held the equivalent of its very magical heart and spiritual body holder, so, he moved on to the next target.

Enya summoned his spear and well, launched it in the direction of the Great Water Serpent, piercing its tough scales. The spear did most of the job for him, with it draining away its life-force, quickly turning the once great dungeon beast an emaciated, shriveled up mess, like some kind of starved blood leech.

With a smile, he raised his arm and another magic crystal core like the one he was already holding, ended up being snatched from inside the Great Water Serpent, the shriveled up poor thing flailing about as if it already knew of its impending fate. Ah, what a sad life it’d lived! It didn’t even get to use its ultimate move, [Water Legion], to see if its created personal army could stand a chance against this man. Again, what a shame!

Enya crushed the two cores in his hands with his bare fists. The two sources it had originated from turned back into water; upping the overall water volume for a second time and causing yet another wave, except four times as big as the last core he crushed released. It was, you know, just as easy to drown in that much water. Yeah, whoops!

Seriously, you guys know how to fly. Why the heck are you still in the water after what happened earlier, Marcel and company!!!?? Ha~~!

So… when the water flooded the area, those without an instantly controlled corporeal-incorporeal body, meaning everyone except for Gwendal currently on the water sunk right underneath the pressure of the generated water wave when it hit them.

Silva, Allan, Nigel and the other thunderbeast brothers as well as Kenny quickly recovered and got right back to the surface. It helped to have an affinity to the element to prevent drowning, but an easily maneuverable body like Kenny's, despite its size, helped him swim back up with ease.

Now, unto those not fairing too well: Shalia and Valeria.

For Valeria, it was pretty understandable that she’d struggle for a bit due to her innate aversion to the element for obvious reasons, but even she figured that flying out of the water was an okay way to escape its watery clutches, but…

...Shalia, she just kept sinking lower and lower. Like, what the hell, three-natured Sunfire elf?! You can fly too!

Unfortunately, she didn’t seem to get that, so someone had to rescue her. Ah, Shalia and her shenanigans~

“What is she planning this time?” They all thought suspiciously, even the one who went to rescue her.

They dove into the water, obviously adept at swimming and came back up with the Sunfire elven Princess.

“Oh… I didn’t know you could swim like that?!! Why didn’t you tell me? I thought I knew all there is to know about you.” Allan commented and the others nodded in agreement.

“Come on, guys! You don’t need to know everything. Also, just because I’m her best friend doesn’t mean that I avoid water like a plague. I’m… not a cat!” They commented back, ending with a ‘hmph’ as they held the unconscious Shalia up with one arm wrapped around her waist in the water.

They were about to get out when Shalia suddenly came alive again.

I should probably say this now! Marcel is a good swimmer, but not that adept and fluid in the element like some kind of predator under the waves. The person holding Shalia… is not Marcel!

Shalia, however, thought otherwise…

“Oh Marcel~, you saved me. Mwah! Mwah!” Shalia said, kissing the person she hadn’t realized was Silva on the cheek.

Yes, it was Silva! She’s the fish that rescued Shalia in this situation. When you live as long as she has, something as meagre as swimming becomes second nature. She just doesn’t love to show off like others do. For some reason, being that she’s Valeria’s best friend, her friends assumed that the aversion to water was a packaged deal for both the fox and white tiger. Haha, guess not!

Silva looked at the princess showering her with kisses with her eyes closed, sighed and replied, “Um... sorry, but I’m not Marcel!”

Immediately after hearing that, Shalia began struggling in the water. Silva tried her best to hold her in place to no avail as the dramatic princess flailed her arms around and tried to escape Silva's help.

Shalia looked so distraught, despair sinking into every part of her, “Then you can go ahead and leave me to drown now!” She screamed as she struggled, wrestling with her rescuer, her eyes hollow and lacking any shred of liveliness.

So, why was being rescued by Silva instead of Marcel such a big deal? Why did she look like she wanted the Gods to claim her life in an instant after she realized that she kissed Silva?

To Shalia, mistaking Silva for Marcel was akin to losing her meaning in life. She might as well just end it all in these waters where she mistook the Spirit Fox Priestess for her precious Marcel of a hunk.

The others watched, dumbstruck by the comedic antics of the elven princess. They quickly broke into laughter after she stated that life wasn’t worth living anymore and flailed about like an eel.

Having had enough of her shenanigans, Silva summoned her staff in her left arm and butted the princess right on her very thick skull, knocking her out again. Better that than the potential consequences of the princess’s suicide attempt, I guess!

After they exited the water, Allan placed her atop Minya and they waited for her to come to.

While they waited, meanwhile, their attention was drawn to the cause of the flood which almost left Sunfire Elven King Revalor Al Ulvaris without a daughter: Enya, and their good, old hero friend Marcel.

This guy, after almost killing them, really had no shame at all. The audacity!

They were made to watch as this supposed ‘friend’ of Marcel’s pulled him to his side and grabbed him by the butt to deliver unto his lips what they could only describe as purely sensual, almost heart-stopping kiss. He explored Marcel’s mouth like it was some kind of familiar cave and Marcel was helpless to his advances. Actually, it looked more and more like Marcel was allowing him to continue with every second that followed.

Yeah, these two definitely ‘know’ each other~” They thought as they watched the wild man openly violated the sanctity of Marcel’s holy temple entrance. They blushed and reddened as they watched the two go at it, with Enya grabbing Marcel’s butt tighter with each passing moment. It looked like they were both going to proceed and ‘do it’ right in front of them at any second.

As for how the two being stared at felt about the situation, well…

Marcel’s face reddened in confusion, visibly shocked that Enya chose to do this at this very moment.

Being able to sense people’s feelings, Enya loved it especially when he watched his favorite hero’s emotions range between confusion, embarrassment and general panic as much as every other reaction he had, both internal and external. He was getting excited and wondered what would happen if he let this continue for long enough.

Fortunately, he got his answer! If he let this go on for long enough, then he might end up ‘eating’ him right in that instance. Unfortunately, that wasn’t his plan just yet. He had to wait for him to grow just a little more or his desires might end up killing his favorite guy in the whole world. Look like it’s time to part again!

Abruptly, he ended their sultry kissing session, leaving Marcel feeling disappointed and wondering why he’d been denied the gift of continuation of this very magical moment. Yeah, Marcel had forgotten to check his surroundings because, obviously, it must be very magical to watch your friends watch you kiss a terrifying, bloodthirsty guy with enough power to tear you apart in a second.

Yeah, the longer his friends watched it go on, the more they couldn’t help but feel like Marcel had gotten himself involved in some very messy love triangle. Also, why had he not told them that he got himself a terrifying predator boyfriend?! Hmph, and here they were, thinking that they were friends?!!

Oh, also, Shalia woke up… to see the non-designated Demon Lord, you know, the one she thought she needed to worry about, not kissing her darling, but some wild stranger swapping mouth liquids with her angel. Yeah, Shalia was pretty livid, because that was not her, again! Aaaaaggghhhh~!!!

When the two’s lips parted, Enya gave Marcel one of his signature smiles and then he whispered into the lad's ear, “Keep me in your thoughts, dear!” He let out a slight giggle before he grabbed his forehead and kissed him, leaving Marcel to melt into a fluffy ball of happiness.

Was it just they onlookers to did Marcel just get purer and cuter when he ascended the staircase to Happy Town?

As he packed his bags to leave for Happy Town, Marcel affirmed what he felt inside for this man named Enya. He asked himself a question along the lines of ‘What am I going to do?’

He, Marcel, simply loved this ‘pure, predictable, and lovable’ person that completes him. Enya is, in his opinion, just precious!

After bidding his own ‘personal’ farewell to Marcel, he felt like he had to give the wondering friends of his darling a sign that he was leaving, “I’ll see you later!” He said, winking to Marcel. He nodded to the others, then left.

He left with a gleeful smile plastered across his face, because, well, why not? Today had been a good day! He ran atop the waters again and left the place leaving every dungeon beast below his feet cowering away in fear of what he’d do to them. How nice it must be to be as terrifying as Enya~!

Oh, and he really needs to change his clothes. They’re all tattered and ruined now. Oh well! I guess that’s just what happens when you get eaten by an S-rank shark dungeon beast.

***

Now that Enya had left, Marcel’s friends got to doing what they were best at: grilling him with questions.

“What the heck just happened?!” They asked him, all curious. When did Marcel start getting deep kisses from strangers? Does the Demon Lord know? If not, very scandalous!

“Um, I don’t know… It seems like something he just does at the end whenever we meet. I did tell you that I met him after fighting him on the Xapheras floating islands, didn’t I?”

Everyone looked at Marcel with mixed expressions. Some, especially Silva, Valeria and the Thunderbeast brothers, were curious to see where this love triangle between the Demon Lord, Marcel and this Enya guy who suddenly appeared out of nowhere would go. Others like Shalia, Gwendal, and Allan looked with unpleasant expressions. This guy…!

It was safe to say that Enya ended up on some of their wrong list of people to have around Marcel. They didn’t care if the two were already lovers or whatever.

Shalia was already planning how to, maybe, castrate Marcel’s other kissing buddy. She was dead serious this time! It was, after all, their duty to ensure that their friend didn’t end up a meal on some wolf’s plate, except the almighty Demon Lord’s, maybe. Those two, Marcel and the Demon Lord, are, after all, fiancés, so it should be fine.

Also, it seems like Enya is someone capable of triggering the necessary response to Marcel’s emotional dissonance: his other side lovingly named Kill-switch Marcel. Someone like that should be kept far away from Marcel as possible… for all their sakes! That guy is pretty strong too. Who knows? He might be a threat Marcel has to deal with, and we all know how it ends with those—ahem, remember dragon brat Sedrah and his companion?

And hey~, Enya didn’t apologize for almost killing them with the water!!

He is really no good at all!” Most of them thought. Others, however – I won’t mention who, were actually happy for Marcel. One of them didn’t know why, but he had this feeling that Enya's aura, was oddly familiar. Hm…?
