I'm back! I ended up getting to the third encounter in vow of the disciple while contest mode was up. My team ended up throwing in the towel, so no day 1 emblem unfortunately. Maybe next time...

Also sorry on the delay on this chapter. I heavily restructured it halfway through to add a bit of mystery. I ended up cutting a decent amount too, so sorry if its shorter than usual.

Oh, and to Mira_Zenon, I'm not sure if you're still reading but ask and you shall receive.

My vision swirls with multicolored lights. The kinda lights that could easily give someone a seizure. They form vague shapes and figures that I can barely make out. The figures speak in a language I can't even begin to understand.

"Chudst enguck skiv"

"Revuck nasta bool"

The figures dance and warp. The first figure looks like a wasp but its head quickly warps into that of an echidna. The second is covered in a veil of darkness, their face seems to swirl and spin like an industrial shredding machine. The second figure slowly pulls off their face and and underneath is the head of a fox. The fox's mouth moves upward and says,

"Forvick"

And with that everything goes black. It feels like my body was dropped. Not from very high, but more like I was picked up in a princess carry then thrown to the ground. Feeling around, it seems like I'm on solid ground. I push my self up, and a light from on high shines down upon me. Around me an audience of shadowy figures silently judge me. I get a terrible sense of familiarity, like I've been here before. I can't help but shake a little. After a few seconds of silence a booming voice from behind says,

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to tonight's episode of Life or Afterlife, I'm your host and god of death, Karakata. For those of you in the audience who are new, the rules are simple. Do as I say or suffer eternal damnation."

I quickly turned around and caught a glimpse of our host, or death god apparently. She(?) Has a rather humanoid appearance, although they have five fox tails coming from behind their back. Furthermore they are only wearing a fox mask, the darkness seems melt over their body covering the sensitive parts.

"Now then, lets give a round of applause for our first time contestant, Bernadette Autumburn!"

After that completely wrong statement, a silence ensued. The gazes of the audiece bored into me. They don't really have faces, but I can still tell that each of their beady eyes full of judgement and malice.

"Thank you, thank you! Now lets move on to the first part of the show."

Karakata says while pulling out a clipboard out of the void.

"Looking here it says that you have killed no less than 6 people. That's a lot."

Their face then scrunches up.

"Huh!? How the hell do you still have an overall positive score? Bah, fine! You get a free spin on the reward wheel."

I hear them mutter under their breath, 'fuckin psychopath' as a giant wheel and button appears in front of me. The wheel then starts spinning rapidly before I can even read what each segment will get me.

"Press that button there to stop the wheel. Whatever the pointer lands on will be your boon for the entire game."

She has become notably less energetic. I get that they're not happy that I have what's presumably positive karma, but don't they control the show? Couldn't they just not give me a spin on this wheel? I of course end up pressing the button anyway.

"Congrats, your reward is the emotional support buddy. Good thing too, you probably need a therapist."

After that jab at me, a white mask falls from the sky(?) And starts floating in front of me. The mask's features slowly warp until it becomes an exact replica of Mi'ara's face. Unccanny. Darkness then forms the shape of a snake and puts on the mask.

"Well then, your orders are kill the thing. Normally I'd give you more details, but you're accustomed to murder riiiight?"

She smirks at me as me, and whatever the hell that mask thing is, get teleported away. The last thing I hear before my vision goes white is,

"Get out of my sight and stay out."
