Chapter 051

On Sunday, Alex was finally ending a weekend that included fighting Drones, the appearance of Spiderman and a visit by Nick Fury, the Director of Shield.

Many other things also happened aside from that.

Pepper Potts announced in a press conference that, after all damage resulting from the Stark Expo incident had been repaired at the expense of Stark Industries, the relationship between Stark Industries and New York City would make another step towards the future.

She presented the plans for a structure acquired by Stark Industries that would be transformed into the Stark Tower, the first completely clean energy-powered skyscraper in Manhattan.

This was taken positively by the media and although there was mixed reaction from the public, Iron man's popularity made up for it.

Anyway, people in the city and the media had something to talk about now.

But Alex wasn't too concerned about all that.

His main concern was still the up and running crime rate.

According to Matt, Hell's kitchen was going through a moment of peace after the Russian gang ended but it didn't mean small-time criminals would stop their work.

Even currently, Alex was looking over at a robber running away after snatching an old woman's bag.

'It's not even night yet. People are too impatient these days.'

He thought, taking a glance at the orange sky. Then, he jumped down, landing in front of the robber.

"You really shouldn't do stuff like that." He said, looking at the robber whose appearance was of a necromancer on weed. "Just give me that bag and I promise I won't punch you."

"Go away! Or I will kill you." The man said, taking out a knife.

Apparently, he was thinking of Alex as a cosplayer rather than the real one. Unfortunately, Alex was long past the time when a knife could hurt him.

"Looks like you don't give me a choice, man."

Alex said, rushing up at him. The robber swung the knife in an inexperienced motion which Alex easily dodged before punching him to the ground.

Picking up the bag from the robber, he threw his hunter's disk at him which will keep him there till the police arrive.

As he finished his job, Alex saw many people around him were already clicking photos and clapping for him. Some were even asking for autographs.

'Do superheroes really have to deal with this?'

He frowned thinking about it and after giving the bag to its owner, he quickly fled from the scene, not interested in giving autographs and clicking photos.

But unfortunately for him, after half an hour, he was trending on Twitter.

* * *

"Over 10k tweets in half an hour? I'm not a member of a K-pop boy band."

Alex muttered as he sat down on a rooftop. He was eating a hot dog while looking through Twitter on which he was trending.

The popularity that comes with being a hero was something he hadn't thought much of before cause it was never really explored too much in MCU movies.

He had never heard of Avengers having social media accounts or something like that.

But here he was, a vigilante looking at his face trending on Twitter, reading all the comments one by one.

Many people were just praising him but many were disappointed that he didn't stop for photos.

There were also people who were holding full blown debates on whether vigilantes were a good idea.

Some thought they were better than the police and were just trying to help while there were arguments about how it wasn't safe for people with supernatural powers to even roam freely.

"I don't like these vigilantes, especially that weird wolf guy. He's scary and his powers make him a threat. I don't want my kids playing outside when a guy like that is fighting people with his ghost wolf. He's not the police! He should be arrested!"

Alex read out one of the latest tweets and shook his head. Closing the app, he finished his hotdog and stood up to go home.

It was already past 6 and he had promised his mother that he would help her out in cooking. But at that moment, he suddenly heard a shout.

"Please leave me! I don't have any more money! Help!"

He sighed for a second before running towards the voice. After jumping through two buildings, he saw three ruffians beating up a teenager in an alley.

He was going to jump at them and deal with it quickly, but before he could do that, a web struck one of the guy's hands when he was about to land another punch.

Glancing up, Alex saw Peter in the same red mask he had worn in the expo. Just there was a spidey symbol on his shirt.

'This will be interesting.'

He thought as Peter jumped down, swinging his fist into a ruffian's chest. Then using his webs to glue another one on the wall.

The last one tried to fight him with a knife but he was easily subdued as Peter twisted his hand and kicked him, slamming him down on the wall.

Webbing all of them on the wall, he picked up the teenager from the ground.

'He's getting better at his job really quickly.'

Seeing Peter made Alex remember his first night as a hero.

It was an embarrassing one and although he had started weak, he had grown a lot and would get even more stronger.

"Hey."

Alex called out to him as the teenager left. Peter looked up at him, surprised to see Lycan but he also grew excited.

"You… You are Lycan. We met at the Stark expo. It's nice, so nice to see you again!" Peter said, unable to hide his excitement.

That's when Alex remembered that in his mask, Peter has a habit to not hide his personality at all, becoming more straightforward and unable to hide his emotions.

As Spiderman, he was goofy and cheerful with him cracking jokes all around while doing his job. Completely different than when he is a normal teenager.

"Yeah, it's nice to see you too. Can we talk for a while as, uh, fellow vigilantes?"

Alex asked, thinking he might be a little late again.
