The night went on and I was tired so I went to sleep as master stayed up, I was getting used to the engine sound by now. I lied in bed and tried to sleep, this planet was damaged I could not deny that. Still something about this planet felt better than home, maybe the open ocean was it. It was full of scary and deadly sea life yet the ocean was so open and free. Unlike the cities back home, everything was so cramped but here was different even the water cities.

I also found this society for all its flaws and how poorly it treated me, to be better in some ways. It was weird to say but things like the care free attitude of people, except for high society. Plus people seemed to be open about themselves and not afraid to express themselves, ironic when there was an emperor in power. Back home was technically a democracy but anyone who dared break from social norms or expressed a certain opinion was shunned. It was weird how people were expected to make apology’s even though they would never be forgiven for thinking incorrectly. Granted it was chaotic at times but still I found this society more honest, once again high society being the exception.

As I tried to fall asleep still I kept thinking about stuff, did it even matter if other pockets of people survived on earth. They could be thousands of miles away or more, either more primitive or advanced and want nothing to do with this pocket. Plus with the crater being so large and unexplored, there could be humans either on or around other parts of the crater. Or other humans knew of this section and choose to ignore us because of several reasons, maybe they looked down on us as primitive. Finally I fell asleep at some point.

I woke up and master was sleeping behind me, it was light out and we were stopped in open water. Guess he had to sleep to, I got up and walked towards the helm window and saw the island in the distance. Master probably locked up the boat before he passed out, I noticed 2 heavy weights on both the port and starboard side of the boat. They were up on the bow near the turret, its base somehow had mounting points for them. The water levels were so high that anchors would never reach since this boat was small. Or the weights were cheaper than a chain and anchor, I wasn’t sure really. I guessed that the stern of the boat also had 2 weights on each side, I would ask when master woke up.

I walked down to the first floor and looked at his work bench, I found a book called “THE OLD WORLD: what was it like”, I read it out of curiosity. The book started with a couple pages about how it was speculation, then went on to several theory's and debates on what the old world might be like. Some said that the earth was mostly land before while others said it was always mostly water, the craziest was one that said there was one giant piece of land. There was also stuff on what little survived from the old world, some art and other objects that survived.

There was one piece of art work that survived by Maurits Cornelis Escher and showed a picture, it showed a room but all the stairs and walls were at different angles and made no sense. There was a theory that most art from before was weird and abstract like this one. There was a picture of the only 2 surviving flags, one was North Korea’s flag and the other was Imperial Germany’s flag. I knew that but the book didn’t, there was some speculation about what these flags meant in the book. There was a book witch survived, looking at the picture witch only showed the cover and I knew what it was. The book had no idea what it was on, luckily I knew Japanese. It was a school book on Japanese history, there was more photos of the books contents. There was a picture of a Katana, some old art, and a picture of a turtle humanoid. The book didn’t know what the sword was called but I did, and there was guesses on the other 2 pictures. I also knew nothing about them, I knew the language but not much on the culture. It was a short book, I read it in an hour then I heard master waking up.

It was interesting to see what little evidence survived from 150 years ago, the Japanese school book was badly damaged so only those 3 images survived and only half the text. But Japanese was a forgotten language so no one could read it anyways but me, I could if there were pictures of the text. It was odd how only those 2 flags survived.

I walked to the bed, “Morning Master, you slept in” I said.

“I stayed up late” he said as he got up.

“We haven't had sex in a while, when can we?” I asked.

“Tonight if you want, you thirsty little girl” he told me.

Master took off 4 weights from outside, so I was right. We kept traveling and passed the same boat as us, modified differently for regular fishing. The day went on without anything noteworthy and come sunset we pulled in to another dock for the night. I was looking forward to tonight, honestly I was holding In the urge most the day.
