I ran towards the enemy in front of me.

If I break past this formation, will the headquarters be beyond them or would there be two more squads waiting behind?

Right now, I didn’t know. I would leave that for Leonheardt to think about.

I only knew that I have to focus on defeating whoever was standing in my way.

"Let’s go."

Trailing us is my girls as well as the cavalry of the Montfort-Doucy and Guiscard army.

As they did not have a role in the siege battle, they were pumped up and ready to contribute now that they have a chance.

We had already come far away from the dazzling flames which lit up the darkness.

Minutely maneuvering the cavalry to disturb the enemy while visibility was poor was out of the question.

"Our cavalry will be the drill."

Simple was best when it came to cavalry. We could charge into the enemy lines, open a hole and create a foothold which allowed the infantry in the rearguard to easily punch through.

I, as the lead cavalry, would act as the tip of the drill.

"Get into anti-cavalry formation! Defend......"

Our horses accelerated further.

The enemy commander was giving out orders while overseeing the entire battle and he probably didn’t expect our horses to be this fast.

We reached the enemy before long spears could get lined up.

"S-so fast!"

Right before contact, one soldier turned his spear to me, but Gheyna from further behind shot an arrow at him.

"Gugh!"

Her arrow flew right into his stomach, the force of impact throwing him down on the ground on his back, which opened a hole in their lines big enough for a single horse to fit.

I quickly adjusted my path and headed straight for the hole.

We knocked away enemies coming from either side of us and trampled through the reserve forces waiting behind.

Irijina surprisingly threw her spear to a man who was swinging large sword at me.

"Argh!"

He fell to the ground.

"I let you borrow it and now I’m taking it back."

As she passed by, she pulled out her spear sticking out of the enemy’s body, then bisect6 the upper half of the commanding officer.

'Crossbows, what are you doing!?"

"Idiot! How can we shoot in this situation, we will friendly fire!"

Our horses were travelling like the wind through the enemy army.

The squishing sounds beneath our hooves echoed loudly.

We also recklessly swung our sword and shield.

Being surrounded by enemies actually made things easier.

On the contrary, the enemy had a difficult time.

The archers and crossbowmen especially had it the hardest as the darkness as well as how close they were together made it extremely likely for them to shoot their allies.

In a short time, I was able to get through the second layer of defense.

"What are you doing, letting Lord Hiro go alone like that!? Pulverize the enemy!"

"Hiro-sama, please slow down a little!"

It looked like my allies were colliding with the enemy behind me.

Irijina and Myla beside me. The three of us led the about 300 allies soldiers.

Having created a hole, the enemy was out of sorts and it should be a matter of time before they got run over.

"......that was pretty thin."

I muttered to myself and smile when I saw what was waiting for me.

"No wonder...... it was all to buy time for the third layer."

The third line of defense had appeared in front of me.

Their soldiers were prepared and neatly arranged, and it looks hard to get through quickly.

"Loose!"

"Release!"

Countless flaming arrows and bolts flew from the new enemy.

While I cut down any arrows aimed directly at me, the ones which fell around me lighted up the area and helped secure better vision for the enemy’s next shots.

Moreover, the bolts I could not defend end up hitting me. I purposely forced Irijina and Myla to be behind me slightly so that the enemies would shoot me rather than especially I was a bigger person than the 2 girls.

Sure, most of them bounced off our armor, however a few bolts found their way into the gaps in my armor due to him being a larger target.

I exhaled slightly, pretending to be fine, but I knew having me charge into this squad would leave me with more than a scratch.

"I jump now!"

I dismounted from my horse.

I let the momentum from jumping off my horse propelled my dash toward the enemy.

Multiple arrows and bolts soared at me.

The one that stopped was the enemy.

My shield protected me as I was charging and allowed me to maintain speed.

I felt numerous blows hitting my shield and my armor.

Two projectiles dug into my flesh, although that was not nearly enough to affect my movement.

"Here he comes!"

"Light infantry forwar―― uwaaaah!!"

Almost like pushing apart the sea of arrows, I lowered my hips right as I reached the first soldier and then make a sweeping motion.

Two enemies infantry were caught in that but there were more behind them including archers.

"Lord Hiro!"

Irijina jumped and crushed onto an enemy. She slashed downward to kill him.

Then, she dashed past me and made a large swing using her heirloom spear.

Four crossbowmen got sent flying all at once.

I saw blood squirt so her attack must have finished off a few of them, but I didn’t have time to count how many.

Response time was fast on the opponent’s side, as infantry holding shields and swords appeared before I realized.

"Everyone dismount! Attack from the front!"

Catching up with me after enduring the harsh barrage of arrows, allied armies got down from their horses and chosen to fight.

It’s probably going to get messy from here on out.

"Look how this guy is dressed. He’s a commander."

"How brave of him to lead the charge. Now I’m going to finish him and turn him into one of my achievements!"

Oops, I better focus on the enemies in front of me.

When I took a deep breath, the world seemed to move slowly.

It’s been so long since I’ve had this feeling.

About twenty enemies stood before me, all with the same swords and metal shields, plus the man at the far back with the red shield was the commander.

"Prepare yourself!"

The very first man shouted as he approached me and swung down his sword, which Myla blocked with her shield, and then she returned a slash to his torso from the right.

Her sword tore through his armor, ripped through his soft innards and cut through his solid spinal column.

He let out a sluggish scream.

She didn’t force her body back after it shifted to the right, instead I used the momentum to bash the next enemy with my shield.

The sensation of his facial bones getting crushed was transmitted through my shield.

Using the foe’s body to

stop my initial slashing motion, I focus my gaze at the sword being thrusted at me from the front.

My response was a powerful slash to the opponent’s legs.

I purposely aimed low because stabbing him in the stomach would restrict my movement.

In a forward-leaning position, I brought myself down barely touching the ground to avoid attacks from two enemies on either side of me, then bounced back up in a spinning manner to slash their backs.

Showing my own back to the enemy will naturally invite attacks.

From what I saw last, they were aiming at my head, side and thigh.

"Hup!"

Myla interfered.

Her shield was lifted to defend my head, she twisted her body to dodge the thrust at her torso, then she shifted her leg to allow the armored portion to take the hit.

The enemy’s astonishment was also sluggish and hard to make out.

Now was when I heard the first guy I cut fall to the ground.

Myla hit an enemy hard with her shield.

Then, she returned to her normal stance and then threw her shield at one enemy while slicing in half another through his shield.

Noticing that the enemy let go of his sword, I left my shield where it was, Myla grab the spinning sword in midair and lopping off the head of a third enemy with it.

"Fuuー"

Time moved at regular speed once again after I exhaled.

"Eight people in a single breath......"

Before the enemy could finish speaking, I inhaled deeply and started moving again.

I drew another sword at my hip for the usual dual-wielding setup and swing at two enemies in front of me.

My attack was faster than their attempts to defend.

My swords went on to bisect one of them, meanwhile the blade of my longsword was deliberately tilted to the side to deliver a blunt hit to the other.

A dull edge made slicing cleanly hard, although the man’s head was caved in so I guess the result is pretty much the same anyways.

Another man cried out sluggishly as I blocked the slash from my right with my longsword, then use the tilting center of gravity to launch a kick to my left.

Irijina let my leg fall back down and lowered my hips for another powerful sweep with my longsword.

The circular slash at shoulder level chopped off one head and four hands.

Positioning swords lower at the same time I spun around sliced the faces of the two enemies who crouched.

That wasn’t the end.
