I followed Christina towards the front door. Alice had gotten up and followed after me as well.
At the door I saw a drenched guild employee. Isn’t she the one that Zayaan loves?
“Brian.” She called out to me as she saw me. “The guild master is asking for you.”
“Isn’t the guild master out of town?” I asked jokingly. I saw the girl's eyes water even more as I said that. I guess too soon to joke about someone who is missing. “Sorry.” I added.
“Brian.” Christina turned to face me. “Do you know something?”
“Yeah. I got a system mission.” I responded. “I assume she is here for the same reason.”
“You already know?” The girl asked with tears in her eyes. “Why didn’t you make a report on it?”
“I didn’t have time. I just learned about it.” I said to her.
“About what? What’s going on?” Alice asked.
“Your father’s group was attacked by thunder sprites.” I responded.
“““WHAT?””” All three of them yelled out.
“Yeah, that’s what the system mission told me.” I said to them.
“What else do you know? Do you know where they are? Are they hurt? Please tell me.” The receptionist asked me.
“I’m sorry, but all I know is that they were on their way here and were attacked by thunder sprites.” I admitted.
“Then we must send out a search party immediately.” The receptionist said. “Madam Watchman, may we use some guards for that as well?”
“We are already low on available guards as some of them are with my husband already.” Christina told her.
“Then we’ll have to do it without them. Let’s head to the guild and form the search party.”
“Alice, please stay here.” Christina said to her daughter after Alice said she wanted to come with us.
“But I want to come.” She was insisting.
“We are not going on a joy ride.” Christina told her.
“I know. But still.” Alice insisted.
“Alice.” I called her as I walked up to her. “Please stay here. We are already worried about other people and your mother and I don’t need anything more to worry about.”
“But I will be fine. Wouldn’t I? As long as I’m with you, nothing bad can happen.” Alice argued.
“But you might not be able to stick with me. We are searching for missing people so we will most likely split up.” I told Alice.
“But then you’ll need me. My father is also missing.” She said.
“Alice!” Christina said. “Please. Just stay here.”
“We’ll be back.” I said to Alice as I hugged her lightly. “Just wait for us. We’ll bring everyone home.”
“Do you promise?” Alice asked.
“I promise.” I told her.
I hope I can keep that promise.
We walked in the rain. I almost summoned Overdrive to take us to the guild, but I might need it later and it’s not in a toploader so the long cooldown might be a problem. Actually, I haven’t opened the packs for today, but now is not the time for that.
We were drenched by the time we reached the guild. Even with the cloaks we took from the manor and my magical clothing, I was soaked. Perhaps my clothes can’t resist water like they resist almost everything else. They might have enchantments only for anti-grime or something like that.
“Madam Watchman, welcome.” The guild master welcomed us. Or perhaps I should call him the ex-guild master. “Were you informed of the situation?”
“Guild master. We have new information.” The employee told the GM.
“Oh, where did you get some?” The GM asked.
“Brian.” She looked at me as she said my name.
The GM and the few adventurers present turned to face me. Lucia and Alex were here as well as two members of Diamond Sword. I guess they are the high-rankers that would be called on in a situation like this.
“Brian? What do you know?” The GM asked.
“I got a system mission about it. It said they were attacked by thunder sprites.” I told them.
“...” Everyone in the guild went silent.
“I thought it was possible, but I didn’t want to consider it.” The GM said. “We need to find them fast.”
Everyone turned to look at me. …why? Don’t stare at me like I’m some sort of a savior or hero. Stop. Please. Last time I gave orders people almost died. I can’t deal with that pressure again.
“...why are you looking at me?” I asked.
“You are the one that knows the most, so you should come up with the plan.” The GM said.
“I know nothing more than you. I actually know less, because I don’t know the surrounding areas or the route the baron’s group would have taken.” I argued. “I don’t even know if they are in the south or north.”
I know there were two main roads leaving Alewatch, one north and one south. But I have no idea where the city they went to is.
“I see… I suppose that might be an issue.” The GM admitted.
As the GM and Christina were coming up with a plan, Lucia came to talk to me.
“Brian, let me dry you up.” She said.
“Sure. Thank you.” I responded.
“Water, flow as I will, Water control.” Lucia cast a spell. I felt the water leave my clothes. Being dry feels a lot better.
“Thank you.”
“I think I should be thanking you. This morning I noticed my blood magic had evolved into true blood magic.” She told me.
“What? Already? You are so skilled.” I told her.
“It’s all thanks to you. And I’m still learning from Lady Camula.” She told me.
Camula? Wasn’t that the name of the vampire shadow rider in GX? Is that the name of Vampire Lady?
“Still, learning it this fast means you must be a natural.” I complimented her.
“Thank you. I’ll work hard so that I can cure the curse on other dhampirs.” She told me.
“You know you can rely on my summons for that as well.” I told her.
“I will, but I would also like to be able to do it on my own.” She said.
I think it’s good that she has the drive for it, but that does mean less free vampire cards to me. I guess I should still be happy.
“Well, until you can do it, please call on me when necessary.” I told her.
“Then, would you come on a trip with me?” Lucia asked. “We can visit the dhampir sanctuaries and cure the dhampirs living in them.”
“Yeah, I think I will. As long as we can stop at places I want to stop at as well.” I told her.
“Sure. We’ll make a party and go on an adventure.” Lucia said.
“Yeah, let’s do it.” I said to her.
“Brian!” Christina called for me. “Can you come over here?”
“And I’m needed again.” I said to Lucia as I walked up to the two in charge.
“You want that?” I asked. “Isn’t it a bit risky?”
“I know it is, but it is also the fastest way we have to move. Your dragons can be used to fly and that will make the search a lot faster.” The GM told me.
“But how will we spot them in this rain?” I asked.
“As long as they have a fire of any kind, we will spot it. And we should be able to spot the carriages they were riding as well.” He told me.
“... okay, fine. But how will we split up on them? I’ll be riding the white one and I can take one person on it with me. But how about the black one? Also at least one person riding on the black one needs to have the ‘Card summoner’ skill.” I told them.
“Card summoner? I’ve never heard of that skill.” The GM said.
“It’s an extra skill that works with my unique one.” I gave a quick explanation. “Lucia and Alex both have it.”
“I see. Then I’ll have Lucia with you and Alex with Wolf.” The GM said. “Is that fine with you?”
Wolf? Who’s that?
“That’s fine, but who is Wolf?” I responded.
“How do you not know him? Wolf.” The GM called for him.
“What is it?” One of the diamond sword members came to us. He had a large bow with him.
“That is Wolf. How do you not know the high ranking adventurers in this town?” The GM asked.
“How would I? No one ever introduces themselves to me.” I told him.
I only knew Prime Rib as they all introduced themselves to me when we first met. Then I suddenly got famous and everyone knew me, so no one introduced themselves to me naturally.
We had moved to the northern gate, where we were going to take off.
“Well, the basic idea is there. We’ll send the two groups on dragons to search from the air. As well as a couple of us on the ground with horses.” The GM said. “We will use magic as a signal when we find them. Any questions?”
Everyone had heard the plan and now it was just about executing it. I took that opportunity to sack five more cards so I could make another toploader. Luckily I had three sleeves in storage from a few days ago. That way I could upgrade the sleeve on Red-Eyes to a toploader.
(2x The Gross Ghost of Fled Dreams, 3x The Portrait's Secret) (The three other sleeves are leftovers from CH.65)
“Brian, are you sure this is safe?” Alex asked as he was climbing to the back of Red-Eyes.
“Probably.” I told him. “Don’t lose my card.”
“Is that what you are worried about?”
“Yes, that is exactly what I’m worried about.” I told him. “I don’t want a card that can summon a dragon to just be floating around. And if you let go of the card, there is a possibility that Red-Eyes will be unsummoned and you will fall to your death.”
“Didn’t you think you should mention that earlier?” Alex asked in a panicked voice.
“Just hold onto the card and you’ll be fine.” I said to him as I turned towards my dragon.
Well, technically they are both mine. I didn’t agree to permanently handing over that one. I need more dragons before I hand them out like that. And I would never give away a Blue-Eyes, even if I had an army of them. Only I (and perhaps a beautiful lady) can ride them.
“Brian, please find them.” Christina said to me as I got to the back of Blue-Eyes.
“I’ll do my best.” I told her. “Lucia, are you ready to take off?”
“Yes, let’s go.”
So uh.... I like it so far.
Infinite cards:
Normal effect. Can have unlimited cards in the players hand. otherwise normally you must discard extra's beyond 6.
Brian can only summon 5 cards, 3 on his wrist thing, and one in each hand.
Use Infinite cards. Now brian has no limit to the number of cards. in. his. hands. huh.
That might sound nice, him summoning a deck of cards rather than a single card in each hand, maybe his Dia bracelet can have a place were he can put a deck in incase he want to spam summon along the three normal spots for his bosses.
Great for a possible Army vs Army battle, though I still want him to get like 5 Top Loaded Elite Goblin Attack Force that would be like a small squad of 50 knights, great if he do a caravan escort mission too.
Camula main goal on GX was to resurrect all vampires, that is why she became a shadow rider, she kinda betrayed both all monsters and all humanity for her goal.
As long as he keeps accumulating Vampires and summoning then, she should be safe and loyal, i mean, going around removing the curse from Dhampirs goes against everything that Camula represents.
Its like asking Mahat to serve under Bakura and sing under Zorc orders, you already established that the monsters remember stuff from the anime/their past lives, so, unless you want to kill all their personalities that you wrote very well so far, you will need to have a talk about Camula and her personal goals.
Maybe a deal to not just grind all other vampire cards for toploaders, something like that would be great character development.
Unless this Camula is not the Camula in GX, but is someone who came before her. Something like a grandmother or something like that to the GX Camula. She could also be Camula from the time before the war that wiped out vampires.
Vampire Lady also doesn't know about the history of vampires and dhampirs in this world, so she might just accept dhampirs being the vampires of this world and just being perfectly willing to help them.
@nro_8 regardless, You may wanna not toss such references in if you don't want more comments about it in the future.
So far it's been alright in this regard, But seriously. This brian character has no brain, no curiosity and no passion of any kind to speak of. Milk-toast bland is an overstatement of this characters.... well. character.
Nearly every card he actually uses acts Very different and in some cases Nothing at all remotely similar to how it does in the game, Yet he always thinks the cards will act like they normally do. And also you make System assume the same things many times.
There also exists cards that change a creatures Type and element, He actually got one called DNA surgery.
Honestly DNA surgery would have fixed the blood curse if it even acted only slightly in line with the theme of the card, let alone actually even slightly similar to it's original effect. Since you have made it 100% curtain that these cards can act on things outside the game and beyond their original assumed limitations.
Such as having Cards that should logically only work on monsters, Because they explicitly describe Monsters in the descriptions, working on people. Aka, granting magic affinity.
In other words, DNA surgery, and DNA transplant. WILL work on people. And this is just the tip of the iceburg of insanely useful and OP cards he ALREADY has.
Also book of secret arts, and the other affinity boosting cards Do not act as Multipliers at all, They are + Plus additive, not multiplicative, You made this very clear, and only stupidly tried to say it acted Multiplicity, even though it clearly does not work that way at all. in order to prevent your MC from getting typed magic.
Also Book of secret arts Gives magic spells for whatever type the magician uses, That logically will include all kinds of attribute-less magic. Only a complete ret*rd would think such a thing is useless. cough System cough.
Honestly, why put so much work into making custom world translated effects for the cards if you're never going to actually use your damn brain to think of uses for them. Or you know, Have the character realize what is blatantly obvious and right in front of his face, and actually repeatedly being shown to him.
He's not a f*cking bystander, he's personally experiencing the alternate card effects, There is no excuse for his behavior.
"But boo hoo my girlfriend dumped me" Is not an excuse to lose 100 IQ and act like you're suffering from Lead poisoning, mercury poisoning and severe brain damage cause by a lobotomy...
I've said this many times in many of my reviews. But no, No one exists who is this stupid.
I worked with mentally challenged people. Not even the worst of them who can hold conversations are this dumb. Only those with extreme levels, And when I say extreme, We're talking LITERALLY MISSING PARTS OF THEIR BRAIN!!! levels of brain damaged people would act like these characters do. And even they're still technically smarter somehow.
Mainly because even brain damaged people are still curious about things and at least attempt to ask questions, even if they can barely retain information given to them.
@nro_8 An example of a card that SHOULD work regardless of it's type requirement is laser cannon armor. Yes, in the game it says Insect types, But there is no reason at all for this limitation to apply based on every other alteration that's been made to the cards so far.
In fact it's more than most likely that it will work with absolutely anyone, as it will simply summon the object, as you also said clearly will happen with the other weapon cards.
Pair this with DNA Surgery, or DNA transplant. And even the creature type requirement becomes a moot point.
Long story short... You're really bad at this game.
My advice for every author is thus. If you're not going to use it, Never even think of giving it to the character. Don't even bother going passed the "thinking about it" stage. If it isn't used, it shouldn't be mentioned.
Or if it's purpose is removed, Make sure to have a character comment on it. Like "Huh... Guess we didn't need the Firey flaming poisonous sword of doom after all."
An example of implementation would be to never even bother speaking about any of the cards he pulls other than the ones he's going to use. This includes removing those spoilers with all them pictures.
Or to have had it never revolve around packs, but rather around singular cards. There was no actual reason that the Pack couldn't have simply been a One time deal, and all future draw's of cards be Single cards.
Though I honestly like the idea of the MC progressively growing their collection of cards.
HOWEVER It gets really tiresome when he's got so many great effects that he's never even thinking of using. And worse, offhandedly dismissing as trash or useless when in reality they are exactly the effects he's always needing.
Like DNA Surgery...
@DrunkenMasterJames I hope you realize that I don't control Yugioh cards. I never have and never will. Most Yugioh cards just make no sense in the concept that is 'another world adventure'. That is the base flaw of this series and it will remain a flaw for it until I decide to end the series.
Since you touched on Laser cannon armor, let my touch on it as well. I never said it couldn't be used by a human. I'm fairly certain I said it would be awkward to use for a human, as it was designed to be used by an insect monster. (If I did say it is unusable for humans, I'll admit to my faults.)
The two DNA cards are their own can of worms that I'm still just scared to jump into. I've said they work, but do you really think going around changing the race of people is the greatest idea?
Also, I just have to thank you for calling me bad. Because I know I am. This is my first novel and I acknowledge that it is bad. But at the same time hearing that from someone who gave up on their own sh*t after 8 chapters just gives me small amounts of brain damage and by extension lowers the non-existing quality of this series.
@nro_8 "but do you really think going around changing the race of people is the greatest idea?"
Yes, Yes I do, as you know. Becoming a true vampire. Would Idk. Maybe. kinda. sorta. Idk. Solve every problem said character had.
@nro_8 "gave up on their own sh*t after 8 chapters"
Touche XD
@DrunkenMasterJames I honestly believe that he not using a bunch of magics and traps so far is for the occasion that he loses his cool and uses like, 6 Hitomas and burn then all.
The major problem with this story is the pace, things are happening too fast, i honestly believe that the author should give some weeks in-between events, its been what? 8 days? 8 days and 90 chapters, yeah, that feels very very very very weird.
If the MC was a child, this would have been one of those trashy novels with super babies, like, a 4 years old that is God level after 2 months of action, like those crack naruto fanfics or gamer fanfics.
I honestly believe that an appropriate time frame for the events of the story be realist would be a year or two.
First year would be a build up for the wyvern attack, while he learns how his unique skill and dungeon founding powers work, he could space his chapters with some months in-between each chapter, climax would be him confessing his origin to Alice mother after the wyvern attack.
Year 2 would be a build-up for Alice training with Mana and Lucina with Camula, all that while MC gets to understand and learn more about the world, both from his friends and from the system, the climax would be the mistaken proposal followed up by the rescue of Alice father.
And it all makes sense, they have carriages to transport from a place to another, taking 2~~4 months to travel from a city to another should be normal for a medieval setting, those kinds of travels are like, a big deal, and its the reason why every city or village has farming areas on medieval settings, transporting food for months is a big nono for most of the foods.
But since this fanfic is like 10 chapters = 1 day, pacing becomes pretty weird.
@DrunkenMasterJames Unless you can't choose true vampire as a race, as it's not a type in yugioh. All vampires in Yugioh are Zombie-type and turning Lucia into a zombie for no benefit wouldn't be a good idea.
@Spearow I mean... the MC acts like he's a baby.. so who knows. But years????
Honestly the reason it feels weird isn't because of what he learns, but rather, What he clearly isn't learning, and his randomly revealing his most deepest secrets for seemingly no reason at all.
Also he clings to alices mother like a toddler. Clearly a serious man-child in desperate need of a mother figure he clearly never had, because no one who had a mother growing up would do what this man does... unless said mother was really piss poor as a mother.
Like, I agree that spacing out events is a good idea. But given what he's currently learning, and by extension not learning. Years is way too long. Months at most. Thunder sprite attack should probably happen in month 3, wyvern attack in month 2. Carriage rides from small remote towns to the CAPITAL shouldn't take days, but rather weeks round trip.
@nro_8 oh, and if he was only able to open packs once a month instead of everyday, the stakes and value of the cards would be much better, opening the packs would be an event every month.
you could make him gain some packs every week, but only being able to open then once a month, this would build up some semblance of suspense.
And like @DrunkenMasterJames said, i also see absolutely no problem with the MC changing peoples races, he is already supposed to be an Angel or something, who cares if he makes people into dinosaurs? Or vampires.
DNA can just change her into a spellcaster, all problems solved.
As James said, it does solve everything, he already gave an element to Alice, something that was impossible, while race change might not be that different, you did builded up the element affinity common knowledge to be something given by God, i really don't understand why race change is such big deal.
Having a large group of healed dhampirs on his side is the best possible play available for him, this way people would not manipulate or control him as easily as before.
Its better that just having Blue-eyes protecting, i mean, if a little girl can sneak in his bed, an assassin would take him out easily.
@Spearow I also don't understand at all how DNA surgery wouldn't change a persons, or creatures, actual race. The Magic boost cards DO NOT say they grant affinity to dark magic or water magic. That was entirely a world translation. And those were actual real STRETCHES, you had to stretch to make those sound plausible. But some how, a card that literally says it changes monsters to other monster types. Wouldn't change a race, the only real "world equivalent" available?
Especially since you made it 100% cannon that "monster" and "person" are exactly the same in terms of targets for the cards.
@DrunkenMasterJames for him to spill out his origin, that would take a year at the bare minimum, he has the monsters and the system to talk about his problems, he does not need human interaction to solve his internal issues, those monsters have hundreds of years of experience to give him advice and support.
Crying to a complete stranger after being on that person house for 7 days is man child behavior, on that I agree.
5 months does sounds reasonable for everything else, including Alice being in love with him.
@DrunkenMasterJames by the way, the trap card [DNA Transplant] changes a person attribute.
just an observation.
@Spearow Oh god donn't even get me started with Alice. Look I get that in most places the legal age is 16, but that's expected to be between 16 Yo's and other teens below the age of 18.
Brian is 22!!!! This guy should actively make efforts to stay as physically far away from Alice as possible. Unless he's a f*cking Pedo Neet.
You know what, I think I just found the reason his girlfriend left him. Who knows how old she was, but either way, if brian ever made comment, or showed interest in mid-teenage girls. It 100% makes sense she'd dump his creepy ass.
@Spearow I knew there was a card for that, I just didn't look at transplant because I thought it made 1 summoned cards creature type the same as another summoned cards creature type.
But no you're right, it changes the ATTRIBUTE!!!!!!!!! Meaning brian can summon a monster, Use this card, Target the monster, then himself, and give himself the attribute of the summoned monster!!!!!
@DrunkenMasterJames pretty sure that on medieval settings "legal age" is when a girl "bleeds" for the first time, so, it can be as young as 12~15 I think.... Samsa was like 14 on game of thrones i believe, magical medieval setting, meh.
the problem is not legal age, its the fact that the only reason pedo mc is not considering marring the child is because he is still hurt for his fiancé dropping him, if he was single he would have probable got her pregnant by now.
now if Alice is 16 years old, that makes my suggestion of 2 years time frame even better, Alice would be legal for both cultures on my suggested time frame
@Spearow that's kinda called Grooming which is gross.... But I guess like, if she kept it to herself, or he actively pushed the idea away because she's too young for him at the start, Then sure, If after 2 years of him keeping his distance and not actively hindering other suiters advances, leaving Alice to her own devices, and after all that she still is after him. Then yeah, That could be fine.
After all, it tends to be a theme in a lot of these System / magic controlled worlds that women or nobility tried their best to persue men / women with strong abilities / magic / blessings. So her persuite would kinda be par for the course with how these kinds of worlds logic works in general.
Still icky, but tolerable.
I'm still so baffled at the authors unwilingness to use the DNA --- cards. Like seriously, these cards are the only ones whos descriptions require no stretching at all to make them work in the world. And you already Mega stretched other cards to do things they literally don't even say they do.
So what's the hecking problem.
I also don't really know why St.Joan was exclusively a swordswoman... Like, He already has the card "Legendary swordsman" Which literally has a lore that he's actually able to kill monsters 10x stronger than him in the anime due to his sheer skill with the sword alone. Like, I get he's already got Dark sage, so another spellcaster seems redundant. BUT. you built up these attributes so much that it literally became an apsolute necessity to get a Light attribute user on par with Dark magician.... But some how St. Joan is just a swordswomen with a tiny bit of magic.... Lame! Especially if that was hinted at on her card description, or in Brians memory of the show. Then that would have meant System would have NEVER suggested summoning her, because she'd be literally useless, since he already has Performance.
@DrunkenMasterJames not to mention that they are continuous traps, so the effect should be infinite until broken, even with no sleeve the effect should be permanent.
@DrunkenMasterJames The problem is that the cards are (kinda) limited. Brian (at the moment) has only 1 transplant and 2 surgery. Wasting them on a test that will likely be useless, or perhaps even dangerous, is just that, a waste.
@Spearow No. Continuous traps are still under the two hour rule, something you would know had you read ch.75
@DrunkenMasterJames about Joan, she has some good fanfics around her, maybe he got inspiration from them? There is one fanfic that died a while back that Joan was mc Ace monster, i think the name of the fic was [Dueling with Fairies], super good fanfic on the GX world, one of the best yugioh fanfics i ever read.
@nro_8 weird, ever since Dark Magician Girl got to be summoned for longer that her normal summon time i thought you had dropped time limits.
For non combat situations.
@Spearow Almost like it was something that happened for a reason that is not part of Brian's skill and something Brian cannot/does not do yet.
@nro_8 i see, kinda like the deck master mechanic then, or the weird thing that winged kuriboh and jaden had going on.
Understandable, well you are the writer, i will not question your decisions about effects and translations of effects.
My main issue is with the cards personalities and time frames, its something that can be ignored, but it does feel weird.
btw, since you are reading the comments and responding, i recently read a novel about a flying castle, full of golens and such.
On yugioh there are 2 Flying castles monsters, the Castle of Dark Illusions, old card, probably is already available for Brian to get, and Cloudcastle(Synchro monster with 3000 defense).
Both castles can hold a very large population inside them, Cloudcastle being the size of a big town.
I suggest you using either of those cards as means of transportation and housing later on the story, i love the idea of a flying magical fortress, and as i said, since Castle of Dark Illusions is an older card, he will stumble across it very very soon, so, i hope that idea will be used on some way on the future.
There are other castle and even space ship cards, but most of them would be hard to move around or can't move at all, but that is for the future.
@Spearow I probably will, and if I get far enough into the sets, even something like Number 9: Dyson Sphere will be a thing. I knew when I began this series that Brian would eventually be almost a god, so that won't be the problem.
The main issue that I know with this series is the time frame. Yes, I hate it myself as well. I didn't consider how overpowered Brian would get with the increasing number of daily packs, but I saw it as mistakes made and just went with it.
@nro_8 Numbers, woah, they are supposed to be more dangerous and harder to use that the Gods, about your problem with him accumulating power too fast... put some level limits and requeriments on the cards.
Example:
Gets Obelisk the tormentor:
- Divine card
Requires:
- User to have some form of Divinity to use.
- User must be level X or his body will explode.
Then you make a quest to kill some creature like Grima from Fire emblem Awakening, a Fallen God or Fell God, then the reward would be minor divinity.
From there he has to build up Divinity to level X, and only then he will be able to use Divine cards.
From that point you can just group up all the most broken cards on the Divine category, you can make so the Norse gods, the sacred beasts, the singer dragons, dimension dragons, Egyptian gods, wicked gods and any other divine card falls on this category.
If you truly want him to have proper limits, make so he can only use one monster from the Divine category at the time.
This way you will have a vast amount of monsters and varied resources without suffering from Saitama syndrome.
@nro_8 That does not track at all with how you've been using the cards.
@Spearow ORRRR you know... just use the core games restrictions. aka, you must sacrafice currently sumoonned monsters to summoned 5 star + monsters. and actually follow said monsters summoning rules if they have them.
It honestly never made sense that he wasn't restricted by these rules from the start. Especially since his system / card related abilities grow with his levels.
If it had been, Get a pack a month, or, get a card a day. And sleeves / top-loaders still requiring 5 & 3 to sacrifice. Then the power creep would have been avoided.
Especially if you had kept it exclusive to the 1st edition packs. And only introduced new packs for doing something major, like defeating another dungeon, or curing All the dhampirs. ETC ETC.
Like, instead of killing the thunder sprites, if he instead cures them of their miasma using Light attribute cards such as Wall of revealing Light, or the other one that dispells effects. Then he'd get a pack known for having a lot of Lightning / light type monsters.
BASICALLY: Brian hasn't actually earned literally anything he's gotten. He's milk-toast, brain damaged and acting like a creepy Pedo. He acts like a f*cking man-child who clings to the first mother figure he can get his hands on.
The time frame is so extremely short for all these social encounters to matter as much as they do.
And finally, The author is ret*rded and thinks NOT stretching a cards meaning to fit the world somehow is harder than actually stretching a cards abilities beyond it's original effect to the point it's unrecognizable as the original. Is totally fine.
@nro_8 See this is what I mean when I say there's no f*cking curiosity. Goblins you f*ckwit. GOBLINS!!!!!! Also that's not an excuse because brian also knows his cards don't work the way they seem they should, In other words, It will not summon a f*cking doctor / hospital bed to undergoa long surgery on.. I mean it may visually, but it won't actually have any sensations or play out fully. This you made clear with all your previous spell / trap cards. You can't take that back now and say it's "PoTeNtIaLy DaNgErOuS!"
I also caught that absolutely f*cking stupid comment about it changing them to "zombie" types..... So an equip card that does not say anything about magical affinities, that works with all kinds of monsters, from machines, to swordsmen. In this world translates as "it increases your magical affinity" Which isn't correlative in the slightest to the actual cards effects. But doing the very smallest possible change of "Types" to "Races" Is TOO f*ckING MUCH. OH NOO, CAN'T DO THAT!!!
Oh yeah, also he's gotten DNA surgery 3 times, and DNA transplant TWICE. you actually sacraficed them all to get sleeves like a f*cking ret*rd.
If you're so f*cking desperate to say these cards are restricted in some way to their originals, Then stick with that. But you didn't. You made the cards do things far beyond their originals, So you have no excuses.
@DrunkenMasterJames man you are pushing the author too much, what if he drops the story because you are being too insistent?
let him do his thing, the vampire cure subplot will take many chapters anyway, maybe he will change something, maybe not, on the end of the day this is fanfiction, the author is the one that makes the rules, we can only give polite suggestions.
Even if the story have some problems now, it can always be fixed on the future or with a rewrite.
@Spearow Just accept that his name is wrong. He isn't DrunkenMaster. He is Drunken Rage Monster. If you go check out the other comments he leaves, he just rages at everyone and everything.
Also for some reason I now feel like I need to add James as a major antagonist to the series. Drunken Rage James?
