“Brian, I need to talk to you for a minute. Could you come with me?” Lua asked me after lunch.
“Sure.” I responded. Not like I had anything else to do. They would just shove me back to that wannabe throne otherwise.
And now I’m having that tour with Lua that I wanted.
She took me a bit away from the town hall, into an area that seems to be the town's graveyard. Just judging from all of the stones carved with names and dates. The dates were in a DD/MM/YYYY format and the years ranged from 1331 to 1363. That means this village has been here for at least thirty years. And I guess this is also the first time I’ve gotten any idea of the date in this world. Not that it really matters, but still. I do wonder, what is the year 0 of their calendar. Another thing I need to find out when I get back to the city.
Lua stopped in front of one grave that said Griffa, with the date 15/13/1359. Eh? 15/13? Like the fifteenth day of the thirteenth month? I thought the calendar was the same, but it is not.
Lua then got on her knees and said some things in a quiet voice. I just stood a few steps behind her, keeping quiet. I don’t need to ask who that grave belongs to. I have a pretty good guess.
“Come. Let’s go.” Lua said after she got up. “This is no place for a conversation.”
I just followed along.
She led us to one of the houses, well they are more like huts. Very basic wooden building.
“Is this your father’s house?” I asked.
“Kind of. There aren’t really individual houses in this village. They are shared by multiple people.” Lua answered. “But the other person moved to a different house, so this one is currently empty.”
“I see. You know a lot even though you haven’t been here for a while.” I commented.
“I did hear some of the gossip earlier.” Lua said. 1 When she was going around, telling people new blood had arrived.
Lua then turned to me with a serious look on her face.
“Brian, I got a system mission.” She said.
A system mission? Lua got one? Nice. I’ve been wondering when she would get her first one. I assume this is her first one.
“I wanted to ask what I should do about it.” Lua added.
“Well, I usually do them, if they aren’t too difficult.” I said. I have done all of the missions I have gotten this far. Of course I also have the two long term missions and those are still ongoing. “So it might help if you tell me what the mission is.”
“It says to teach dhampirs true blood magic.” Lua said.
… isn’t that simple? Lua got true blood magic after like a few days of training with Vampire Lady.
“Yes. Is that the problem? If I recall correctly, it took you only a few days, right?” I asked her.
“No. That is not the problem. There is something strange about the mission.” Lua said. “... can I just show it?”
(Of course you can, if you wish.) I heard Lua’s System Support in my head. (Just think or say ‘Open’.)
“Open.” Lua said quietly.
Mission: Teacher of Blood |
Goal: Teach Dhampirs True Blood Magic |
Reward: ??? |
It looks similar to mine. But there is one thing different about it. The reward section is ???. My missions usually have a reward that improves Pack Opener or gives me cards, but Lua’s just has ???.
“I see. It is similar to mine, but also a bit different.” I said.
“Would you show me yours?” Lua asked.
“Sure, I can.” I then had Laura bring up my dhampir mission before saying: “Open.”
Mission: Cure the Dhampirs |
Goal: Cure dhampirs of their blood curses |
Reward: Grants a random Vampire card for each cured dhampir |
This mission is repeatable. You can gain the reward only once per person |
“Yours doesn’t have a visible reward. All of the ones that I’ve had have always had a detailed reward.” I told Lua.
“Yes. I was wondering about it. But also, how much do I have to teach them for it to count?” Lua asked.
“... not sure. Enough for the system to recognize it?” I theorized. “My missions have always had clear start and end points, except for the dhampir mission and one other.”
“Could you tell me about them?” Lua asked. “The other missions?”
“Sure. I had one for founding the dungeon, I had one to stop the wyvern attack and then I had one to save baron Watchman from the thunder sprites. They have all been very much time limited, or what I call them, emergency missions. But I also have two continuous ones. The dhampir one you already saw and another one to do with magical attributes.” I informed Lua.
“Magical attribute mission? May I see that as well?” Lua asked.
“Sure.” I said and again Laura brought it up for me. “Open.”
Mission: Granter of Magic |
Goal: Grant a magic attribute to hard working people who don’t have one |
Reward: |
Grants 1-5 monsters of the attribute given. |
If the recipient is an extremely hard worker, cards may come in sleeves or toploaders |
This mission is repeatable |
“Yeah. So if you know anyone that doesn’t have an attribute but deserves one, just call me.” I told Lua.
“... I … yes. I will.” Lua said.
“And now that we are talking about magic attributes, how about I finally give you light magic.” I offered.
I promised to give Lua the light attribute all the way back when I first tried to cure her, but I just never did. Now is the perfect time for that.
“... would you? I already have the water attribute, so you won’t gain a reward, right?” Lua asked.
“I know that. But Lua, you saved my life. Nothing will ever take that away. So giving you a magic attribute is nothing.” I told her.
And it is true. With a pack token factory contained within my unique skill, I have no need to hold onto singular copies of some cards.
“Then, please.” Lua said.
“I’ll just warn you before hand, but this can be a bit intense.” I told Lua. “It will feel like a mix between pain and sexual pleasure. Are you ready?”
“... what are you actually going to do?” Lua asked carefully.
“It’s nothing sexual, I swear. But that is what it feels like.” I told her.
“... I still want it.” Lua said.
“Good.” I said as I pulled Luminous Spark out of the collection. “I’ll do it now.”
“Please.”
“Install.”
The card in my hand turned into light and entered Lua’s chest.
“Ah.” She let out a small moan as it did.
… yeah. Why does it have to feel like that? Couldn’t there be a better way? Something that won’t cause misunderstandings if someone overhears it?
As I was looking over Lua, I also made a quick search in the collection for any light attribute monsters that can heal life points. Surprisingly, I only had one. White Magician Pikeru.
I guess I never really thought about it, but Dancing Fairy is in fact a wind attribute monster, not light. But in terms of monsters that can heal life points, I have Cure Mermaid, Dancing Fairy, Fushi No Tori (but it only heals via battle, so it is more of a life steal), Skull-Mark Ladybug (only when it goes to the GY), Spirit of the Breeze, White Magician Pikeru and Griggle. Griggle does have an effect that triggers when its ownership changes, so I do wonder about that. If I summon Griggle, then transfer control of it to someone else, like Alex gave the summoned Red-Eyes back to me back during the sprite incident, would Griggle’s effect activate? It probably should, but I’m not sure.
Also, I do remember the Trial of the Princess spell. It is something that can upgrade White Magician Pikeru to Princess Pikeru. But I don’t have access to either of those cards. They just are in a set I haven’t unlocked yet.
“That was … a lot.” Lua said after she had recovered from the install.
“Yeah. But the first one is generally the worst, so if I ever install another card into you, at least it won’t be as bad.” I told her.
“Have you installed some into yourself?” Lua asked.
“Yeah. Four in total.” I answered.
“Four? You can use four attributes?” Lua asked.
“Eh? No. Why would you think that?” I asked.
“Because an install gives a magic attribute, right?”
“Well yes, but actually no. Installs can have many different effects depending on the card I install.”
“Like what?”
“Well I’ve only seen two different reactions. One is gaining, or more like altering the magic affinities. The second is gaining a skill.” I explained.
“Gaining a skill? Like just getting a new skill?”
“Yes. Exactly like that.”
“Brian?”
“Yes?”
“Are you a god?” Lua asked.
… where is this coming from?
“No. Of course not.” I denied.
“But you do things only a god should be able to do.” Lua said.
“Don’t skill orbs exist? I’m decently sure they do.”
“But they only come from dungeons and the dungeons are a gift from the Goddess.”
“I thought the first Great Sage could make them as well.” At least that is what I took away from what Paulina said yesterday.
“So you are admitting that you are as powerful as the first Great Sage. Is that it?” Lua asked.
“No. Of course not. I have no clue how powerful the first Great Sage was, so I can’t exactly compare our powers.”
“I don’t think you are denying that it is possible.”
“Lua, anything is possible. I don’t think I, at this moment, am stronger than the first Great Sage. Honestly. But I think it is more than possible that I can grow to be more powerful than he was.” I said. With all of the BS my cards allow me to do, I should be able to do that. Probably. Level Up! to gain levels, installs to gain skills and just summoning monsters to … well, to fight for me. And if I do gain that last Exodia piece, I’ll have the god-like power of Exodia by my side as well. And perhaps at some point I’ll get the other god-like entities of Yugioh, like the Egyptian God Cards, the Sacred Beasts or the Nordic Gods. I guess the Wicked Gods are also a thing, but they might be too dangerous to use.
“... you really are an anomaly.” Lua said. 2 Lua is too smart. We must execute her immediately.
“I’ll take that as a compliment.” I said. “Also, I want to give you a few cards.”
“How much are you planning on giving? I don’t think I’ll ever be able to pay you back.”
“And who said you’ll have to?” I asked.
“I did. When you got me this magic bag.” Lua said as she patted the magic fanny pack I got her.
“Well that is different. My cards can only be used by those with Card Summoner. Well, not really but still. I want them to be used and I can’t use all of them myself. So I want to give you a few more to use.” I told her.
“... I’ll accept them.”
Now as for what I gave Lua, first was White Magician Pikeru to teach her light magic, second was Cure Mermaid because I think it fits her. Then I gave her a copy of Vampire Vamp and Vampire Grace. I got two of each of them from the dhampir mission, so I can give one of each away without too big of a worry.
“I think these four will do.” I said as I handed them over. I had, of course, put a toploader on each of them.
“I understand the vampires, but what about the other two?” Lua asked.
“Well, they are to help you with healing magic. Cure Mermaid uses water attribute healing magic and White Magician Pikeru uses light attribute healing magic. You will need a teacher to learn light magic, won’t you?”
“I … yes. Thank you. But I didn’t expect a mermaid.”
“Actually, I have another two if you want them.” I offered.
“... two more? I … please.”
“Here. Mermaid Knight and Enchanting Mermaid.” I said as I handed two more cards to Lua.
“Thank you.”
We then went around the village, Lua showing me everything. Not that there was much.
The most interesting part was this large-ish flower field that grew deep red flowers.
Lua told me that the nectar they produce is used as an ingredient in healing potions. I was a bit surprised because I haven’t seen them anywhere else and they are quite beautiful. But Lua said they need blood magic to help them grow, so only a dhampir can grow them.
So that is why dhampirs are still around. I’ve actually been wondering why there hasn’t been some sort of racial extinction caused by hate for their blood drinking ways. But if they are the only ones capable of producing materials for healing potions, that makes more sense.
As we got back to the town hall, I saw that the villagers had decorated it. Just a little.
There were some sorts of lamps, but they weren’t the usual lantern style that most places use, or the candle holder style that the noble houses use. These looked more like LED strips. Where are you getting LED lights?
There were also some clearly handmade decorations that combined with the LEDs, made the building look like a starry sky.
I have to say, I’m impressed that this backwater village has decorations like that. I really like how those LED lights look. … Yes, I know they aren’t actually LEDs, but I don’t know what they are, so I’ll call them LEDs until I actually find out.
We got inside and I was taken to the seat at the end of a large table that could seat the entire village.
I ended up having to hold a small speech before more snake meat was brought for us to enjoy. Most of the villagers took Lua’s advice and drizzled blood on top of it before enjoying it.
I have to say, seeing the looks on some of their faces was quite fascinating. I guess eating solid food for the first time in your life can be quite the experience.
Brian could easily get super OP given even a short period of time, like a week or two.
He can install cards into himself that he thinks will give him passive skills, then use Level Up to level up the skills, and then use a card to uninstall those so he has room for more. Since the skill leveled up, he should keep it. This would result in stat increases, special effects, etcetera, and while individually may not be super overt at level 1, should make a larger difference all together.
Not to mention depending on the passives, he can level them up further over time just by acting as he usually does.
Speaking of installs, would Remove Trap and De-Spell installs grant a skill to remove traps or spells on things, or make it so they can't have traps or spells affecting them, or something else?
There might be a limit to the number of cards he can equip himself and others with. Like he can set upto 5 cards onto himself and summon 7 monsters at a time if he use both his hands. Maybe the 'Infinite cards' card can remove said limits, though he can just MST the installed cards he doesn't want when he get new cards.
@Ruiso So, the limits.
Brian can set up to five cards on any living host. But he himself can cheat a bit as he can set 5 cards on himself and another 5 in his duel disk, but he does have to keep his duel disk 'active' to keep those cards available and of course the spell and trap zones would be taken so he can't use them for other spells or traps. He could still activate spells or traps by holding them in his hands and his monster zones would also bee free.
But still, 5 set cards.
For summoning, 5 monster slots on the duel disk, plus one monster in each hand for a total of seven monsters at the same time. Infinite cards can be used to get around the hand limit, but that also makes commanding them with the mana signals basically impossible (even for Laura), so verbal/general commands only.
For installs, there is no absolute limit. There is a limit of 5 cards at a time, but a body will adjust to the cards with time and once it does, the card no longer counts towards the limit. The time it takes depends on the card and the skill the card gave. For a normal skill, the adjustment period is 2-4 weeks, the time it generally takes to learn the skill if you practice with a teacher. For extra skills, multiple months (a month in the world is four weeks or 28 days). And for unique skills, a year or years.
So for Brian, he currently has four installs. (Raregold Armor, Spell Economics, United we Stand and Different Dimension Factory) Out of them, only Raregold gave a normal skill and it is one that Brian doesn't use too much, so he hasn't adjusted to it yet. So he really should either remove Raregold (as shining taunt is a somewhat dangerous skill) or use the skill more to "learn" it.
Also, the magic attribute installs count as normal skills and follow the rules of normal skills.
@Dr.Smut Yes. Yes he can. Even with the once per day Level Up!, that is still 2 levels per day. That is 14 levels in a week and so on. From LV1 to LV99 in just 49 days.
For Remove Trap and De-Spell, probably. Remove Trap should absolutely be some sort of trap destruction skill. Not finding traps, but just disabling/destroying them.
Same with De-Spell, being able to destroy/disrupt magic that has already been cast or is in the final stages of being cast.
But they would not grant any sort of trap/spell immunity. Just the skills to remove (destroy) the spell/trap.
Lua has her first mission with an unknown reward, can’t wait to see what it is. She also got quite a few cards from Brian, wonder how jealous Alice will be when she finds out.
Wonder what the gang will do next, obviously Lua is going to improve her magic with her card summoned teachers and teacher true blood magic to the villagers for that mystery reward. As for Brian opening new card packs and trying some experiments.
Alice also got the four top loaded Level ups! so she should be busy upgrading both her levels and skills. She also has more cards installed and a stronger boss in the shape of an upgraded Dark Magician Girl, the book Equip card that was installed on her.
I think the Dhampirs would like blood bread and blood curd as just common dishes… and they can make blood sauce for meats, the blood bread and blood curd especially since they’re ways to preserve blood essentially so they’d be able to keep blood for longer… and since they won’t frenzy now they can keep livestock without worrying about murdering them… maybe they can make bloodburgers by just grinding up bloody meat to make delectable patties of meat and congealed blood or just put blood sauce on a normal burger…
honestly my favorite meal would probably be black stew with some added potatoes, with blood custard for dessert… there’s a lot of blood recipes and honestly black stew sounds really good

Fixed.
Don't think switching griggle with a friend will work since it specifies control switched to an 'Opponent' implies someone you're fighting against not beside
Yeah, but in the real world, who is an opponent and who is a friend? How do you define that?
Now I don't know if you read the alternative versions, but if you did, you would know that Swords of Revealing Light affected anyone not touching Brian, and Brian's summons. And it also says "your opponent's monsters".
thanks for chapter
Here author have a motivational 🍪 with a 🥓🧀🍔 and a glass of 🍫🥛
Thanks. I'll be sure to enjoy everything you offered.
Their conversation about her quest at the begining when put out of context sounded really spicy.
Lucia: "Well I showed you mine, can I see yours."
Brian: "Sure here you go, see how it is more refined...."
Great chapter, can't wait for more.
There are quite a lot of spell cards that also heal. Goblin's secret remedy, Dian Keto, I think some blue medicine and some kind of mist also did it and the rain one.
Dian Keto's first release was in the starter decks. Hope he install that card on Lucia.
Guessing Lua reward:
She will evolve into Vampire, right? Bc Brian said Vampire Fascinator look like Lua.
Why? Like really, why? There really aren't that many advantages of being a vampire, compared to a dhampir. Sure you get better natural healing and are slightly more powerful, but you will also get a weakness to healing magic, holy magic and sunlight. And as Lua's blood curse is no longer a problem, there really aren't many reasons to turn into a full blown vampire.
@nro_8 just my wild guess and not really think 2 steps ahead
@nro_8
or maybe the reward is Lua now can cure blood curse herself and bc blood curse can only be cured by vampire, people believe she is vampire but she isn't. Just my guess don't judge to hard
@RecentMap7 Well, kind of but not really. The blood curse can be cured by anyone with high level True Blood Magic. But you need to not have the curse to be able to upgrade blood magic to true blood magic. And even if you do have true blood magic, you might not be able to cure the curse if the person you are trying to cure is too strong compared to you, like what happened when Vampire Lady tried to cure Lua.
