Lucas flew on his pegacorn Horny over the vast area of Winterose, which was vast and covered mountainous terrain, which were was cold and covered in pine trees

The Starrock Academy was not located in the capital city of Crystalrock, rather around 200km away in their own territory, with an area as large as an average city

But Lucas didn't know this, not having a map in Magera's house as her map was 300 years old, before the establishment of the Academy. 

In fact, he has never left the dark forest he lived with Magera in his whole life save for two occasions.

Once when he was 13, the kingdom of Rendovir requested help as they were being attacked by an insect monster army, where she inspired their army and led their forces to wipe them out. 

The second was when he turned 15, a city in Marcheline faced a terrible sea monster, a kraken that was sinking their ships and blocking the port in the seaside city of Porthill.  

On both occasions, Magera brought Lucas along to see the world. On both occasions, he dressed in dark leather armor, with a mask and shroud covering his face and his voice

Magera didn't want anyone to recognize him, only introducing him as her squire. Many warriors were shocked as they had never known the Battle Maiden, the Lady of the Forest, ever had an assistant, not even since the time of her legends that lasted a millenia!

As such, he flew to the city to Crystalrock, and hoped to find directions to the Academy from there. 

He saw the city of Crystalrock, which was built on a high plateau risen from the ground. If one was to come by foot, they would have to climb a large pathway up to the city. On the other hand, it was also easily defensible as most monsters from the land level would have to climb up to the city

"Look Horny!" he said excitedly, talking to his pegacorn. In his home, he had managed to raise a whole family of 6 pegacorns, each he named Horny 1, Horny 2, Horny 3 and so on. 

But as he was simply riding one of them, he just called it Horny, even though he knew it was Horny 3

He saw a large platform, and he could see several animals landing and taking off, each with passengers on them. 

There were guards flying on gryphons each, which was patrolling the skies as other creatures landed

There were enormous eagles, with carriages on top, each carrying 6 to 8 people on their backs taking off and landing. 

There were also several warriors using a multitude of flying creatures also taking off or landing

Several were flying on pegasus or flying large birds. There was even a fierce looking warrior flying in on a manticore, which was a creature with a lion's body and head, but with large bat-like wings and a huge tail like that of a scorpion

"Ho young man! You will have to wait your turn to land. Do you have a permit?" a guard approached Lucas on his gryphon

"A permit? No, how do I get one?" Lucas asked

"You need to book your arrival as there are many important people who regularly fly in and out" he said

"Uh... how about those guys?" Lucas asked, pointing to several mages who were flying and landed straight into the city, using only magic, not any creatures

"Those are mages that are powerful enough to fly. If you can fly on your own right, you don't need to land here" the guard said

"Oh!" Lucas thought to himself

The reason he didn't fly here from Magera's/his house is because he didn't want to attract too much attention. Only very powerful mages had the mana to cast a flying spell for so long

But Lucas could fly under his own power, either by his vampire flying ability or his wings, which would be tiring for him as it would be for his pegacorn Horny. He could also cast levitate or magically control wind. 

"Then you may go Horny. Tell Magera that I arrived safely" he patted Horny on his butt as he took his bag and jumped off!

The guard was shocked as Lucas floated to the ground, using his magical ability to control wind and landed in a gust of air, his hair blown gracefully

This attracted attention from everyone who could see him jump off the pegacorn, and the women swooned upon seeing his face with his wind swept hair

An Pegacorn was a rare animal as unicorns and pegasus rarely interbred. So even the pegacorn attracted alot of looks

But as they saw the handsome teenager once he landed, the attention all went to him instead as Horny flew off, headed towards home, which was a 2 week journey back. 

He landed in the marketplace and was excited at seeing all the food sold in the marketplace

Lucas had never seen so many people with so many different clothes

The only 2 times he left the house, all he met were soldiers, and the ones that dressed slightly differently was the higher ranked officers, all who treated Magera reverently, nearly to the point of worship

"What are these?" Lucas asked as the pretty girl selling the meat skewered on sticks being grilled over a fire

"L...la...mmm" she said, nearly drooling as she gazed at his face

"Lamb? How much per stick?" Lucas asked, taking 3 sticks and eating them

"Take as many as you want. My treat" she said, willing to give this handsome teen everything she was cooking

"No, I can't take them for free" Lucas said when he realized that he didn't have any money!

He knew about money from books, but after the incident with Magera before he left, he spent all his time making love to her to show her he still loved her, that he barely packed many clothes, and forgot all about money!

"Just take them. Really. My treat" she blushed, turning her whole face red

"I have an idea" he said, grabbing a few more sticks and her hand, pulling her into the nearby alley

He cast a spell of invisibility around them as well as a cone of silence

If it wasn't for that, the whole market would be drowned by her loud moans and groans

With that, Lucas ensure free lamb skewers the rest of her life

But Lucas wasn't a cheapskate, and he assured her, he would pay her every time

However, the girl Katie had already fainted, and Lucas cleaned her up and put her underwear back on as he left her sleeping soundly jest behind her stall

He left her there, changing the spell to wear off only when she wakes, and walked off with another 5 skewers. They were that delicious
