    Bing-bing-

     Bing-

A light ringtone resonated throughout the room. Today was the day Xue Yuanjun was set to return to work. He had multiple surgeries lined up and had to get started on some paper work. He planned to head to the hospital early to prepare.

Xue Yuanjun sat up and reached for his phone to silence the alarm. When he saw the screen, he couldn't help but curse. It was almost 10 a.m. "How is it so late!?" He always has alarms set just in case he needs them, although he has never needed them before because he is very punctual due to his internal clock. Xue Yuanjun did think it was strange that he didn't receive any missed calls even though it was already this late but it was quickly pushed to the back of his mind.

Xue Yuanjun didn't have much time to think. All he cared about was not being a minute more late so as to not damage his reputation. If there is one thing Xue Yuanjun hates the most, it is his reputation being damaged. He takes a lot of pride in what he does.

With no time to waste, Xue Yuanjun grabbed his black case that happened to be next to him and his phone, rushing out the door.

When he reached downstairs, he felt a burning sensation in his head.

Xue Yuanjun quickly hailed a taxi and headed to the hospital. By the time he reached the hospital, he realized he left his wallet at home. Cursing in his head, he asked the driver if it was okay to charge it to him later.

"I'm sorry sir, I left my wallet at home. Would it be okay if I gave you my phone number and gave you the fare later?" Xue Yuanjun thought he may have mistaken him for a scammer, so he tried to explain to him. "You see, I work at this hospital here and I'm really late. I could even go in and borrow money from my colleagues if you really want the fare now."

The taxi driver gave him a strange look as he looked at him, then at the hospital building not far away, before giving him a knowing smile. "Alright, there's no need to put you in a bind and force you to ask for money from others. Just give me your number and you can pay the fare later."

Xue Yuanjun gave the taxi man a bow and sincerely thanked him. "Thank you so much, sir! My number is 000-XXX-XXXX."

When the taxi man heard Xue Yuanjun say this string of numbers, he let out a hearty laugh, followed by an elderly smile. "Hahaha- You know, you seem like a good kid. Just go, forget about the fare."

Xue Yuanjun was baffled, but he wouldn't insist. He was already late and needed to hurry to the hospital. "Thank you again, sir."

Watching Xue Yuanjun head in the direction of the hospital at a quick pace with a determined face, the taxi driver couldn't help but wonder. 'Maybe he really does work at that hospital.' He gave another hearty laugh. "Hahaha- What a funny kid, determined to act until the end.

The hospital entrance was more crowded than usual. Xue Yuanjun made his way to the staff elevator area but was stopped by a lady at reception.

"I'm sorry sir, this area is only for the staff of this hospital. If you are lost, I can help you over here at the reception desk." The kind receptionist gestured at Xue Yuanjun with a courteous smile.

Xue Yuanjun: "No need, I work here. If you'll excuse me, I'm running late."

The receptionist gave Xue Yuanjun a strange look when he mentioned that he worked at the hospital. She seemed to have a realization; her tone became softer and her smile more bright. "You work here! Since you work here, you must know that all staff are required to wear IDs. I just need to see your ID, then you may be on your way."

Xue Yuanjun had a realization of his own. He didn't have his ID with him. He became frustrated as he was getting later by the minute. "I don't have my ID with me." He said.

"I'm sorry, if you don't have an ID, you can't enter the staff area." The receptionist said, with a stern voice.

Xue Yuanjun: "Are you new here? I'm a doctor here. You can look up my name; it's Dr. Xue Yuanjun."

The receptionist was losing her patience. She thought she would humor him, but if he still insisted that he worked at the hospital, she would call security. "Give me a moment, you said, Dr. Xue Yuanjun... As you can see, there are no doctors that work at Hai Fae Hospital by that name. If you aren't checking in or looking for someone, I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

Xue Yuanjun was silent. Just a moment ago, the burning sensation in his head disappeared, replaced by what felt like a slide show of memories. His face turned pale, and he couldn't think of anything to say or do.

"Excuse me, sir.? Are you alright?" The receptionist saw the person who claimed to be a doctor with such a sure face turn pale in the next second, she was tempted to admit him into the hospital.

Regaining his composure, Xue Yuanjun replied to the receptionist: "Yes, I'm fine. Please forget what I said earlier."

The receptionist nodded and said, "Alright, how can I help you? Are you here to be admitted or are you looking for someone?"

     "Neither." Xue Yuanjun replied.

"I have to ask you to leave if you have no business at the hospital. They will help see you out." Who knows when the two security guards appeared. After the receptionist spoke, the two men escorted Xue Yuanjun out of the hospital and then returned.

After he left, a male receptionist walked over to the lady receptionist. "Wei Qi, who was that kid that came in? Why did you have him escorted out?"

"He came in trying to use the staff elevators. I told him he couldn't, then he claimed he was a doctor that worked here. I humored him a little, but he was so persistent. Then he went silent and turned pale, like the world had just ended. " Wei Qi said.

The male receptionist could hardly hold back a laugh. "That kid! A doctor!? He sure was dreaming big. Not just anybody can work at Hai Fae Hospital, let alone someone that young. If only becoming a doctor was that simple."

"Who knows, maybe he will be a doctor in the future. The look in his eyes when he said he was a doctor was almost irrefutable. It almost made me doubt whether I had really forgotten we had a doctor like him"

"Yeah right, he's just a random kid. Not just anyone can become a doctor. It's only those with lots of natural born talent and power that can really make it as doctors." The male receptionist said, Seeing people heading toward the reception desk, they stopped their idle conversation and resumed their work.
