This is the last Rukia POV but at least she finally realizes Yui isn't a normal girl

The Real Yui

I was frozen in place. What was that!? Every interaction with ‘Yui’ has been bland and her face and voice has been flat the entire time. She has curt words and a straight to the point attitude, even cutting me off at times. The second I asked her about a Skill she starts blabbering on about her Skills and such things, how could I not be shocked that the cold woman I hated just smiled a wide smile and started talking excessively like a girl in love. I eventually caught up to her but she ended up talking about her skills for our entire walk, with a lovely voice and face the entire time.

After a few hours of walking we make our way up a small hill and a camp comes into view. It looks like a normal campsite with a tent, shower, a place for a campfire and other generic things. Eventually she speaks up.

“It's about lunch time so I think we should have some food.” I take a peek at her and it seems that she is back to normal. I don't have any food on me so I ask her.

“I didn't bring anything apart from normal possessions so can I rely on you for food.”

“Sure. I have enough to last us a month, so we should go shopping before then. Have a seat there.” She points at a spot across the campfire from her. Although the fire isn't lit I find it odd that she needed to point a spot out.

I sit down anyway but when I am about to ask if I can help in the preparation of lunch she walks over to me and hands me a head of lettuce and a large piece of dried meat, in my shock I forget to say anything until she sits across from me and starts taking bites out of the head of lettuce... I am shocked once more... We have a lot of vegetarians among the Elves but I don't think I have seen any of them just start eating a head of lettuce by itself. She stops eating and looks up at me.

“You have to eat. Your body is already hungry.” What?

“Ummm. Do you always eat lettuce like that?”

“Like what? I eat all my food like this.” I don't know how to interject here.

“Do you not eat meals?”

“Ahhh. That's what you mean. I bought a bunch before I left town but ran out a little while ago. I don't have the Cooking Skill so I just eat all of the food that contains the necessary means to keep the body functioning.” I’m shocked again. When will this end?

“You know you don’t need the Cooking Skill to make meals right?”

“Really? Huh. Let me check. Oh. It seems you're right, it just makes cooking easier and even adds buffs at higher levels. Interesting.”

“So why don’t you make food?”

“Like Creation Magic? It's a little expensive and I can just buy food when I need it.” Is this girl an idiot? Why does everything come back to Skills with her?

“No. I mean you can do cooking without the Cooking Skill. Why not do that?”

“I don’t know how. Maybe I should buy a book on cooking when I visit town.” Who raised this girl? Man I can't believe she has managed to make it this far in life. I'm starting to get annoyed again.

“Great Spirit! How old are you? Who raised you? How did you manage to survive all this time without mak, cooking any food? What is this campfire for?”

“Either 3 Months old or 15 years old. Nobody. Buying food. Warmth? I think.” I'm stunned again. I blew up at her but she just calmly answered my questions. “Anything else?”

“Yeah. What do you mean 3 months or 15 Years old?”

“I only have memories of the past 3 months but my Status says 15 Years. Elder said that it’s because I’m a Child of the World but he didn’t say much except that I’ll probably find out more when my Age changes in my Status.” Wait, was this what the Elders meant when they said she was like an intelligent new-born?

“Then how did you know so much about everything?”

“I used Analyze.” So that is what Elder means by ‘high level appraisal skill’.

“You said nobody raised you?”

“Yup.”

“Where did you wake up then?”

“In a bad guys prison?”

“How did you escape?”

“I killed them.”

“How?”

“Stabbing.”

“Look. People usually tend to give a long explanation when asking complicated questions.”

“Okay.”

“So how did you escape?”

“Status.”

“What do you mean?”

“Status gave me the Lockpicking Skill.”

“Huh, did you already have the Skill but it leveled up?”

“No. It bought it for me then leveled it up until I could escape.”

“How long did it take you to escape then?”

“A minute or two.” Must have been a poor lock then.

“So what did you do afterwards?”

“Went to Marvos'”

After a few hours of coaching her through her telling me her entire story I finally realized why the Elders punished me and how everything that happened until now happened. I instantly felt guilty about all the times I yelled at her. I mean I was basically yelling at a baby for not doing what it was told when nobody told it what to do.. Also I'm confused on how I did not connect the dots about her being the guest of honor when Toru told me about her beforehand. Also I’m assuming there is more going on then the Elders are telling me since it all seems a bit weird. We have had people be unintentionally rude to guests of honor before but no one has ever been exiled for it.

Maybe I have been sent out here to raise her? It feels weird since she looks the same age as me and she is even more knowledgeable than me in several areas. She is also insanely strong and seems to possess a deep hatred for ‘Bad Guys’. I think she means criminals = bad guys but she isn't so sure on that so maybe the people she has talked to have shaped her narrow view a little more. I’ll have to discuss this with the Central Elder since it seems he is in charge of her education. It seems he is teaching her big picture stuff that doesn’t align with the Elves view and just the general world view which is also odd.

When I start to internally complain I remember how the Grand Spirit agreed with this so maybe It is my destiny to raise her, or something like that. I guess I should just go along with this, she seems to visit the World Tree whenever she goes to her lessons so maybe I should pray to the Grand Spirit while I’m there to make sure I’m doing the right thing.

It seems like I have been dumped a major responsibility for scolding a child. Maybe I should calm down a little more and be more like the Elders and their Old man easy going ways.
