Volume 1

Chapter 2: "A Strange Noise."

 

That night while Makari was sleeping he heard growling and immediately got up.

 

He came out of his small house prepared to fight and said:

 

"Who is it now!"

 

He realizes that the sound is coming from a dark bush. Then he slowly starts walking towards it.

 

Growling is getting stronger and stronger as he is approaching it.

 

"Show yourself!"

 

Says the tiger (Makari) loudly.

 

He slowly approaches it, slowly peeks into the bush and spots something really unusual and pretty strange.

 

He spots a huge egg with a snake incubating it.

 

Makari gets confused and yells in his mind:

 

"Why the hell is this happening in my backyard without me knowing?!

 

Why is a snake incubating a huge egg?!

 

Is the egg growling?!"

 

Snake spots him and gets scared.

 

It starts hissing and slithers away.

 

Makari gets a bit confused and brings the egg inside not knowing whether there is something alive in it.

 

When he brought the egg inside he placed it onto the table.

 

Right after that he fell asleep.

 

An hour later, the sun starts to shine and Makari wakes up.

 

Few seconds later, the egg starts hatching.

 

He gets really surprised and yells:

 

"Wait, the egg is hatching?!

 

Aww man, I wanted to eat the egg itself so bad!

 

That's not fair!"

 

The egg breaks into tiny pieces and something jumps out of it screaming.

 

 

Makari suddenly gets disturbed and says:

 

"Ahhh! You are a dragon bird hybrid!

 

Wait...

 

NO!

 

A COCKATRICE!

 

OH GOD, I HEARD THAT THEY CAN POISON YOU OR TURN YOU INTO STONE!

 

I MUST DO SOMETHING, QUICK!"

 

Instead of cockatrice killing him by turning him into stone, it strongly bites his finger.

 

The tiger (Makari) yells out loud:

 

"OUCH! OH NO!"

 

Then he starts thinking:

 

"Wait, it didn't turn me into a chunk of stone?!

 

Maybe it likes me...

 

Or it is too young to hurt me so it chose to bite me!

 

Probably not, I guess"

 

Strangely, it starts cuddling.

 

Makari suddenly gets calm and says:

 

"Aww, maybe you aren't that bad after all. My name is Makari and I will call yo-"

 

It bites him again.

 

He starts to yell again:

 

"Ouch! Not again!

 

Wait!

 

I know!

 

I will call you Shuro!

 

I just made that name up right now..."

 

Cockatrice, whose name is now Shuro, starts cuddling again, chirping 'mama'.

 

Makari thinks:

 

"Wait a second...

 

IT JUST CALLED ME 'mama'?!

 

Huh, I cannot believe...

 

I'm a male tiger after all.

 

I'm so confused...

 

Well, I guess I just became a mother this morning!"
