Chapter 5: "Liam."
Leopard suddenly wakes up flustered and stutters:
"W-where am I?"
Makari sees that he is now awake, so he responds:
"Huh, looks like you are awake now.
So tell me, why are you stealing?!
Because of you, I cannot go outside even with my cloak on!"
The thief leopard says:
"Hah! What are you gonna do?!
If you didn't kill me then, why would you kill me now?!
I don't need to talk!"
Makari says:
"Listen up, you are gonna talk or I will let my 'pet' do the job!"
The thief says:
"Are you gonna let some kitty cat make me talk?!
It's not like you have a damn monster as a pet!"
Makari smiles and says:
"Or do I?
Shuro!
Come here, our guest is awake!"
Leopard thinks:
"What kind of dumb name is Shuro?!"
In less than a second,
Makari's pet Shuro comes and the leopard gets disturbed screaming:
"OH GOD, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!
I TAKE BACK WHAT I SAID, JUST DON'T KILL ME, PLEASE!"
Makari responds by saying:
"Hey, he isn't a thing, he is my pet!
He may be too young to poison or turn somebody into stone, but he is still really strong.
Not to mention that he didn't eat for more than twelve hours."
Leopard gets disturbed and yells:
"W-WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! WHEN HE GROWS UP, HE WILL BE ABLE TO POISON OR TURN SOMEBODY INTO STONE?!
AND YOU WILL FEED ME TO HIM,
YOU ARE JOKING WITH ME RIGHT?!"
Makari stares at him and says:
"Well if you continue goofing around, you will find out what Shuro is capable of!
Be thankful he's friendly!
Now tell me!
What is your name?!
Why are you stealing?!
And what the hell did you steal from some random monsters for them to ambush me and then try to kill me?!
Answer, now!"
Cockatrice Shuro suddenly starts to hiss at the thief.
The leopard (thief) suddenly becomes polite and says:
"OKAY OKAY!
JUST DON'T KILL ME PLEASE!
My name is Liam
I steal because I am homeless!
I cannot get a job because I am a monster just like you!"
Makari (tiger) responds by saying:
"Listen 'Liam', if you expect me to fall for your dumb emotional act, you are wrong!
Leopard Liam asks:
"I am not tricking you!
Mostly because I'm afraid of that cockatrice you call..."
Makari interrupts him by saying:
"Shuro."
He continues by saying:
"Ah yes, Shuro... (Gosh, what kind of name is that?)
Wait a second, how do you live without stealing?!
How do you even have money?!"
Makari responds by saying:
"Well, I do odd jobs.
It's a bad idea to steal here.
You never know if somebody is going to catch you or not.
Everytime I go somewhere there are people who look at me confused because I am wearing a cloak.
I'd get kicked out of the store sometimes because I do not want to put my hood down.
Usually that doesn't happen when it's winter, because everybody wears something."
Liam then says:
"Oh, I see.
Well nice to meet you I need to go no-"
Makari responds by saying:
"Hey, where the hell do you think you're going?!
You are going to stay here and be forced to live a humble life!
Ah yes, is this your cloak?"
Leopard (Liam) gets mad and says:
"Oh you son of a bitch!
Give me back my cloak!"
Makari breathes out and says:
"Hey, listen.
To be honest, It is your choice to be a thief.
I can just give you your cloak and let you go.
You would need to worry about somebody catching you, being surrounded by police, or even worse, having to deal with those monsters I killed.
Imagine if it was you and not me.
If you chose to live with me, I guarantee you that you will have food, plus you won't need to worry about somebody catching you, not to mention you will not be homeless.
So think!
Are you gonna be a thief and ruin everybody's life, including yours and mine, or live here in a safe place, not needing to worry about being killed or starving to death?!"
Liam responds by saying:
"Huh, I never questioned myself about all these things!
You may be right after all."
Makari gets happy and says:
"Finally, you chose the right path!"
Liam interrupts him by saying:
"But how are we going to get food if we don't have jobs?"
Makari responds by saying:
"As I said, I can do the hard job and you can stay inside and watch the house while I'm gone.
Deal?"
Liam happily says:
"Deal!"
Makari then says:
"Remember, this is just the beginning.
Oh shit!
I must buy us food!
I lost it during the fight with those idiots!
Shuro hasn't eaten since he was born (around sixteen hours ago.)
and it's not looking good!'
Liam responds by saying:
"Don't worry, I have lots of money!
Which I stole..."
Makari then says:
"Who gives a fuck, humans need to learn their lesson anyways!
This is urgent!
Come with me, we need to buy food, quick!"
Liam responds by saying:
"A-alright."
They used the money which leopard Liam stole from others to buy food for themselves and mostly for cockatrice Shuro.
As tiger Makari said, we do not know about what baby cockatrices are capable of, but what we do know is that this is the beginning of a very long, untold story.
