Chapter 9: A Family Trip!!First Up Is the Deep Forest!!

Rem searched through the papers that were going to be my quests whilst I was away from this city. For one who was drunk she was strangely calm and collected.

“Alright, since you are going to the Alesia Mountains you must fulfill these quests”

“Okay!”

I took the papers and began to read them, wait why can I read this if at all?This is definitely not Japanese, well duh I am in a different world but that still doesn’t explain why I can read this. Is this the legendary translation konyaku?

“Um gather the rare God’s Flower herb from there, no details on where it is, so an image was provided. Understood. Hmm?”

“What is it hic?”

“Why’s there I must defeat the Frost Giant King here?”

“Ah, yes hic, that’s another problem ordinary adventurers can deal with.”

“Oh?Now this is something I and my older sister shall enjoy doing”

“I am an ordinary adventurer….”

““A Hero Slaying Adventurer doesn’t exist in any nation”” 

Both Rem and Shen said at the same time making me realize just how anomalous I was in the equation of nations and such.

“I am glad you didn’t go to the nations that we have bad relations with hic”

“Ah, you’re right. Alright then I’ll be off then, see you later Rem”

“Go away now”

Rem spoke in an even more drunken voice than the calm and collected voice she had spoken before as both me and Shen moved out of the room. When I had returned to the guild hall, Shiro and Kuroe had been playing around with Geri and Freki meanwhile everyone was staring at Alex and Ellen with intense gazes as Sev was casually talking to them as if she had known them for a long time.

“Oi”

“Ah you’re back, I was about to discuss that time we-“

“Quit giving these guys problems will ya?”

“Alright, I was just interested in them as well. Ellen was once captured by a similar Dark elf who was an evil slave trader until Alex killed the guy and thus follows him around”

“Wah”

“Hahaha”

Alex scratches the back of his head with a dry laugh as Sev utters this out carelessly. Shen then nods at the explanation as to why she was so tense to me on my first day.

“Ehh~ Is that so~ Say Ellie why don’t we have a trip together to the Alesia Mountains?”

“No”

Rejected. Instantly too. I dropped my shoulders as I didn’t expect her to give her reply so fast with Shen simply laughing as she heard her.

“We have plenty of people already, why add more to that number”

Actually she was right but what will these guys do to escape the incoming barrage of questions that is coming their way as soon as we leave here? As if reading my mind Sev got close to me with a smile.

“They are going to be hired as bodyguards to my assistant back in my home country. I’ve formally requested the guild for this so it should be fine”

“Sev you are one scary Sage”

“Heh”

She smiled as she heard me say that to her face, and to think she would be so thoughtful enough to make them do that. 

“We are heading out now, I hope you guys stay well”

“We will, don’t worry much about us. Tell Freki that I would like to hear about his findings at the top”

“I will.”

Alex said with confidence as Ellen had a complicated frustrated face.

“You continually cause us trouble, what a worrisome Dark Elf”

“Is that good bye and I will miss you Yukiyo-oneesama?”

“NO!”

“Awwww, come Onee-sama will give you a goodbye ki- okay I am joking Shen stop staring at me like that.”

Shen gave me a death stare that would have killed me if she had acquired such a skill and quickly refrained from provoking her any further. Sheesh I gotta stop with the jokes otherwise Shen is really going to kill me one of these days. 

“Mama!!I am an adventurer now!!”

“That is good to hear Shiro”

“I have become an adventurer, I will now explore dungeons with Freki”

Shiro and Kuroe smiled as they approached me, Shen and Sev with Geri and Freki in the background looking all proud and smug. Their plans of teaching these kids what they know is running smoothly, I patted their heads at the same time with a smile.

“Righto!!We are moving out now”

“I think I have a grasp of how Alex and Ellen felt when hearing you say that. Do you ever prepare for your trips?”

“Sometimes”

“Let’s take our time to think this through Yukiyo, we need supplies such as rations”

“Monsters are our food, we’ll hunt them down”

“Clothing that is appropriate for the cold climate”

“Freki collected a bunch of treasure boxes that we haven’t opened yet so we can get the items we need from them”

“Shelter from the cold”

“Freki will create a small dungeon with the help of the twins so we can rest at night and destroy it when morning rises”

“My head hurts”

“This is what I have to deal with Sev”

“I see, no wonder you got changed into this. Having to deal with such an abnormal being is bound to cause a significant shift in common sense.”

“Indeed.”

“Alright then. Let’s go then.”

“How far are the Alesia Mountains?”

“Normally speaking its about 3 months worth of walking there”

“Oh”

“But you have a dragon, two Fenrirs, two Vampires who can fly, and a Sage with a teleportation spell I believe it will just take us around a month to get there. What an irregular party we have”

“Okay guys we are off then!”

“Did you even talk to the Marquis about this?”

“Ah…..I forgot about that”

““BUT I DON’T WANT YOU TO GO!!””

Both Mona and Gertrude said that at the same time, I was her savior as for Gertrude she didn’t want to separate from her gods who she had grown accustomed to. 

“We’ll be back soon and we will have so much time together Mona!”

“It is as our mother says Gertrude we will return here as soon as we get back”

“Fine. The both of you once you return will come visit my town”

“I am not sure we can-“

“Yes we will”

“Mother?!”

“Okaa-san?!”

I had a blaze in my soul, an entire town of fluffiness, I would die at such a sight!Gertrude smiled upon hearing me say that. Risa wore a sad expression on her face.

“I hope you return as soon as possible. I believe it is alright to consider you to be good family”

“I hope you didn’t give the guild master too much trouble”

“Its the usual”

“I’ll have to pay her a visit then. With a bottle of finely aged whiskey as well.”

I am so sorry for causing you two so much trouble, I smiled wryly at Frank who sighed as he looked up to the sky. 

“Anyway return safe, you’re like family here.”

“Shiro, Kuroe please come back soon!”

“We will!!”

“Worry not, it will be a very short trip”

How cute to see these cute girls make such a promise like that. After giving off a good sendoff we went back into the forest where Shen transformed into her original form.

“Take us there safely Shen”

“Umu”

“We’re counting on you”

“Indeed”

“I wanted to race there but I have no idea where we are going so…”

“Worry not Geri we will race when we get to know the terrain better”

“Ah you’re right!!”

The snowy mountains were just ahead of us but we had an entire forest to go through before we reached it. It was like we had returned to the Arensha Great Forest, the two Fenrir brothers got nostalgic as they could feel the wet grass and nature noises they were born into.

“Say, why don’t we look for a dungeon?”

“I am rooting to killing some high leveled deer, I am off”

“Wait you two!!”

I shouted in vain as the two taking Shiro and Kuroe with them leaving behind me, Shen and Sev alone. 

“It seems like they are right at home”

“Yup, let’s make our journey towards the mountains”

“Its not that far if I fly but I do not want to deal with wyverns all the time”

“I see so that’s the reason”

“Yes”

“You’re too lazy to fight some weak monsters”

“The way you said that is annoying but yes”

“Let’s go you two”

“Who made you leader?”

I said to Sev as we began to walk inside of the forest with a brisk pace. Sev began to sigh immediately after I said that with Shen looking even more bored than before. Wait what the hell just happened here? From out of nowhere Sev now had a sword in her hand, it was evenly lined up along its blade that made me wonder if it is one of those swords. I looked forward and a bunch of orcs had been walking a fair distance away from us. Shen didn’t want to fight them since they didn’t give her as much experience as a giant would unless if it was a orc king of course. 

“I’ll handle it”

Sev said with a confident smile on her face as she held the sword inside of her hand firmly.

“If I do not grow as strong as Shen or close to it, I would have failed as a pioneer to my race. Besides if I do not battle I will rust and die to some useless creature like a goblin or a slime”

“Did you just insult me?”

Sev silently leapt forward as she swung her sword which immediately stretched forwards and pierced through the head of a orc using its body to jump even higher into the sky. With the chain sword in her hand revolving all around, it was a scene straight out of a movie!She then descended on the orcs firing magic at them with ice impaling them as she swung her sword on the ground. Sev pointed her sword at several rushing orcs with the tip of her blade having a black point that shoots out a red laser that pierces through their stomachs. 

I can say that Sev is definitely a sage but to think she can wield a sword as well. She utilized both mage and swordsmanship to her advantage and thus surprised her enemies when she showed off both. Her chain sword made a spark sound as the colors of the rainbow itself revealed themselves in an aura, she began to swing it rapidly at the poor orcs who didn’t stand a chance. Can I call her rainbow thief just for the laughs of it?She is looking too cool right now. Some of them tried to run away but she was steps ahead of them as she threw a black shaped ball of energy at them, that energy began to bring them all back together wait is that a black hole?!How the hell did she?!Shen seemed interested in the idea of a black hole as well, with her chain sword she immediately sliced off the necks of the orcs with ease. There had been 20 orcs at the beginning but now there is just a scene one would find in a butcher shop.

“I leveled up a bit, I hope I fight more stronger monsters than just orcs. Maybe an ogre or an oni”

“Scary”

“The scary one is you would defeated the rise of an orc kingdom”

“True but I had help at the time.”

“You didn’t need help in fighting the Orc King did you?”

“Ah, no”

Geri and Freki stood at the edge of the battlefield as the twins were making short work out of the goblins and orcs who were rushing towards them. They had found a dungeon that was just ahead of Yukiyo and the others, Shiro had gloves that sharpened her claws making her slice and dice the goblins as they came in running to capture her, Geri had taught her the basics to gain the Beastly Combat skill and she came up with her own unique style of fighting that made use of her agility and strength as she quickly shred them into pieces. 

Kuroe carried an eastern sword in her right hand with the scabbard in her left hand, unlike her battle hungry sister she calmly cut down the hordes with both the sword and a magic in the form of flame daggers that pierced the heads of the orcs that came to surround her in her blind spots. She yawned as she slashed the goblins into half and observed the environment for any traps something she learnt immediately after Freki taught her to know the layout of a dungeon, the two brothers were a good distance away making sure their presence wasn’t felt by the monsters so they wouldn’t run away.

“They have learned the basics so quickly and applied them just as fast as well”

“Indeed, is it the fact that they are inside of a dungeon something like a second home to them?”

“There is that factor, such precious children are so cute. Shiro is cutting up those goblins with such a enthusiasm to impress you Geri”

“Kuroe is observing the background for any traps and any secrets to impress you Freki”

““Our little sisters are so cute”

The two said as they could feel Yukiyo and the others approach their location. 

“Ah they’ve found it”

“The boss?”

“BUGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!”

A orc chief charged at the two sisters once they reached its underground lair. 

“Kuroe!”

“On it”

Kuroe made the daggers shoot towards the charging orc chief’s legs running towards it with the sword inside of her hand and cutting its Achilles tendon forcing it to fall down on its knees, she backs off to give her sister a shot to bring it down. Shiro dodges its huge club and slashes at its face, arms and stomach before moving out.

“BUGAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!”

It roars out in anger as she makes her attack however it is surprised to Kuroe on its club with her expressionless face making a smile as she uses her sword to cut off the orc chief’s left arm. Blood sprays out from the injury as it screams in pain but it freezes as it sees Shiro whose glove clad hands start to glow as Kuroe backs off once more.

“Blood Claw Stream”

Using its spurting blood as an extra set of claws she begins to make a bloody mess out of the orc chief’s body backing out for Kuroe’s turn who nods as she returns her sword inside of its scabbard. The orc chief which is hanging on a thread swings its club once more to at least take down one of the girls to the afterlife but just as its club is about to approach Kuroe’s head within a blink of an eye rapid swing movement occurs. Kuroe fully closes her sword in making the orc collapse into finely cut pieces. 

“That was….exciting”

“Right!!”

“““SO COOL!!”””

The wolf brothers along with their mother shouted out as they saw that final move, the two were perfectly in synch as they had done their assault on the orc chief. 

“Pork buffet tonight”

“Ohhhhh”

“Yay!”

Yukiyo announced that concluding their first day within the forest.
