"..." Tilting his head in confusion, Fenrir stared at the man.

"I beg you!" Tilting his head towards Fenrir, Souichiro continued "If I die without having this assurance, I will not rest in peace!"

Turning her gaze towards Fenrir, Saeko points towards Saya and speaks "Pack"

Looking at Saeko, Fenrir nods "Saya... pack."

"Thank you!" Seeing him nod, Souichiro turns to Saeko and stretches out his hand "This katana passed down from generation to generation within my family, today I leave it in your care, please make it quick!"

Noticing how the man's skin starts to turn gray, Saeko nods seriously and takes the katana.

"S-saeko, what will you do?" looking at Saeko with a pale expression, Saya asks.

"I will protect your father's honor" Turning to Saya's mother, Saeko stares into her eyes.

Understanding her eye contact, the woman bites her lips and approaches Saya, then grabs her and drags her away.

"M-mom, what are you doing!?" With tears falling from her eyes, Saya cried out.

"Calm down..." Hugging Saya tightly, the woman whispered, "It'll be okay."

Taking a deep breath, Saeko looks at Souichiro and whispers "Ready?"

"Ready" Kneeling down with his back straight, Souichiro closed his eyes and resisted the pain in his body.

*Thud*

Thus, a man that Fenrir considered as an Alpha died.

After that tense event, everyone took care of burying the body of Saya's father, while the young girl kept crying in her mother's arms.

Looking at her house, the woman sighed "Our group fell..."

"Mrs. Yuriko, we have to go" Looking at the zombies piling up again, Saeko spoke seriously.

"But..." Biting her lips, Yuriko turned her gaze all around "What if there are any survivors? It's my duty to protect them..."

Turning her gaze towards Fenrir, Yuriko looked at him in silence for a few seconds and spoke "Can you confirm if they are all dead? I won't rest easy if I know I abandoned any survivors... they are my responsibility."

"..." Staring at the woman, Fenrir bowed his head.

"She says if you sense any other wolves around here, that it's her pack and her responsibility is that."

"Pack?" Whispering in confusion, Fenrir sniffed the air in front of the woman and growled slightly "Saya... pack... responsibility"

Looking at Fenrir silently for a few seconds, Saeko raised her eyebrows and translated "I think he knows you're her mother... he said Saya is your pack and should be your sole responsibility, your family."

Opening her eyes a little wider, Yuriko looked with complicated emotions at her daughter.

"The pack comes first" Whispering those words all at once, Fenrir crouched down and placed his hands on the ground, then took a deep breath and whispered "Seventh Fang: Spatial Perception."

Closing his eyes as a large amount of steam comes out of the wolf's mouth, Fenrir sharpened his senses and began to feel everything around him with several kilometers of distance.

After several seconds, Fenrir opened his eyes and whispered "No humans...no wolves...just shit."

"No one alive, there's just those things" Smiling happily to see him talking so much, Saeko translated his words.

"Are you sure?"

"Nothing escapes Fenrir's senses."

"*Sigh* Well..." With a last glance at her house, Yuriko turns to Saeko and asks "Do you guys have anything planned?"

"After coming to Saya's house, we would go to the police department nearby to look for Rei's father, then we would go to her house to see if we can find her mother... after that we have nothing planned."

"It's impossible to enter the police department, we studied the area to see if we could take out weapons, but it's crawling with those things."

"Just like your house was surrounded, look now, we are surrounded by dead bodies."

Looking at the group, Yuriko sighed "I'm the guest, I'll follow them..."

Nodding, Saeko looked at the darkening sky and asked "Yuriko-san, do you happen to have any functional vehicles? The one we were using was damaged by the explosion."

"Now that you mention it... we have an amphibious vehicle that wasn't damaged by the explosion, but since it's made for water, it makes a bit of noise on concrete and doesn't reach high speeds..."

"Then shall we go?" Looking around at everyone, Rei asked.

"So... you're telling me they were cohabiting with a wild man?"

After driving for several minutes, Shizuka parked at the side of a house and the group cleaned up the area easily, then went inside and rested.

After everyone made themselves comfortable, Rei talked to Yuriko and updated her on everything that happened since the apocalypse.

Saya couldn't take it anymore and when they got home, she fell asleep from the mental strain, while Fenrir was taken to the shower by Shizuka who was in low spirits the whole way.

"You could say he kept us alive" Nodding, Rei replied.

"..." Staring silently at the bathroom door, Yuriko spoke "So he doesn't know how to talk?"

"He knows very little, most of it we taught him."

"Is it really safe to be with him? He seems very aggressive..."

"He really isn't" Getting into the conversation, Yuuki continued "Most of the time he's usually quiet observing everything, he likes to have his stomach stroked and he also likes to have his head massaged, although he has trouble eating and sometimes disappears for a while, he's not a bad man"

"I guess he likes affection...do you really think he was abandoned as a child in Siberia?"

"Fenrir does not know how to lie, in fact, it is impossible for me to think of Fenrir lying."

"Keep in mind the following, if it wasn't for Fenrir, Saya would have died a long time ago, or worse, she would have been raped just like all of us by a group of inmates we encountered a few days ago, they were armed and obviously had bad intentions"

Lowering her gaze, Yuriko replied "We have our responsibilities-"

"Your only responsibility as a mother is to take care of your daughter, something you didn't do" Without giving her time to make excuses, Saeko stood up and continued "Saya was very worried about you, she couldn't sleep peacefully, many times she had no appetite and let out many tears of worry, she insisted many times that we go to your house to see if you are well, she even had to beg Fenrir to help you... considering how proud Saya is, you must know how difficult it had to have been"

"The point is this, Saya was much more worried than you, her own parents... they preferred to protect some strangers than to protect their own daughter" Staring at the woman, Saeko continued "I know I shouldn't have to tell you this, but I now follow a master who is honest with his wishes and I want to follow in his footsteps... this is my thinking and I will make it clear, you... failed as a mother."

With those words, Saeko left the place and entered the room, then closing the door and leaving the whole room in silence.

Looking at the woman who looked pensive and depressed, Rei stood up and ran into the room.

Entering the place, Rei closes the door behind her back and sees Saeko cleaning the katana "Don't you think you were too hard on her? She just lost her husband..."

"It's the best thing for Saya" Without turning her eyes, Saeko continued "I'm sure Saya will realize that truth and end up being hurt by Yuriko-san, she doesn't seem to realize her mistake and all this would lead to a conflict... it's better to give a reality check to Yuriko-san so that she realizes her mistake and knows how to handle things with Saya"

"..." Looking at the woman, Rei sighed "Still I felt sorry for her..."

Turning her gaze to Rei, Saeko asked earnestly "How would you feel if your parents didn't bother to look for you and went about protecting other people? Leaving you completely to your own devices and almost losing your life many times?"

Biting her lips, Rei replied "I'd be happy for my parents to help others, but..."

"You would resent them, wouldn't you?"

"Yes..."

"The same will be felt by Saya when she wakes up and processes that her parents didn't take the time to go after her for protecting strangers."

Meanwhile in the bathroom...

"Fenrir-chan, please don't growl at me like that again..." Naked with her head bent down, Shizuka whispered sadly "It makes me feel bad..."

"Shizuka... sad?" sitting on the stool, Fenrir looked at the sad Shizuka curiously.

"Yes..." Pouting, Shizuka looked up with reddened eyes "Don't growl at me like that again, yes?"

"I-I didn't mean to upset you... I just wanted to help Saya-chan and I didn't understand you... I'm sorry" Lowering her gaze again, Shizuka whispered sadly "I was really sorry when the little wolf got angry..."

"Shizuka... happy" Taking Shizuka's face, Fenrir gently touches her lips and tries to stretch them so that she forms a smile.

Actually Fenrir isn't angry, he doesn't even know why he should be, he simply made it understood to stay out of that fight and that's it.

He doesn't hold grudges, much less hate her, so seeing the always cheerful Shizuka in such a low state of mind is a completely new sight for him, an experience he is only now discovering and it makes him somewhat uncomfortable.

"*Sniff* Do you forgive me?" with tears falling from her eyes, Shizuka asked.

"Shizuka... sad" Looking at her curiously, Fenrir continued "Fenrir... sad?"

Looking at Fenrir's somewhat tense face, Shizuka finally laughed lightly and hugged him "I promise not to bother you anymore at such times."

With a pair of breasts in his face, Fenrir just stood silently in obvious confusion.

'Happy? Sad?' Fenrir failed to guess Shizuka's mood, realizing little by little how complicated women are.

'Now don't move I'll clean up that blood~' As if the previous sadness didn't exist, Shizuka smiled happily and started cleaning Fenrir's body, while her eyes were still reddened from her previous tears.

After a relaxing cleaning, Fenrir came out of the bath in normal clothes while Shizuka held his hand.

Looking up, Yuriko looked at Fenrir's face in disbelief, while in her mind only one word managed to form 'Perfect'.

"..." Looking at the woman on the couch, Fenrir tilted his head towards her.

"Fenrir, this is Yuriko" Looking at Fenrir with a big smile, Yuuki continued "She's Saya's mother."

"Yuriko..."

"That's right, now come you have to keep learning how to talk~"

After a night where Fenrir for the first time didn't sleep with everyone, the day came and they moved to the police station.

After a quick cleaning they found the station to be empty, but with a clear message on a blackboard.

"Third Shintoko Elementary School!" With a happy face, Rei exclaimed "I knew dad wouldn't be in trouble!"

While everyone was engrossed in planning about their next steps, Yuriko stared at the man who was just staring at the window curiously 'He's a monster... that speed, that strength, those senses... everything about him is impossible for a human...'

As if sensing his gaze, Fenrir turned to Yuriko and tilted his head doubtfully, causing Yuriko to tremble slightly and dodge his gaze.

"Then it's settled, we'll go to Rei's house and then to Shintoko school" With a slight smile, Saeko nodded.

"I'm so exhausted..." Lying on a table, Saya mumbled.

After what happened, it can be said that Saya is a really strong woman.

Although the first day she collapsed on her mother because of the sadness of her father's death, today she woke up much better and seems to be her usual self, although all this was the result of a little talk between her and Yuriko, where the woman tearfully apologized for abandoning her, promising once and for all, that it won't happen again.
