The year 2022.
What's so special about this year?
Hunter X Hunter is coming back.
That's right.
You heard it.
A whole... however many chapters we get.
An event even scarcer than a solar eclipse.
So far all we have been recieving is 1 numbered sketch per day, but the days of scrolling through twitter while waiting for our daily dose of dopamine are over.
Why?
Well because there seems to be a new Hunter X Hunter game that came out recently.
Hunter X Hunter: A Journey Back To Civilization
Or well that at least seems to be the case...
But when the game title is searched on the web...
Nothing comes up.
If so...
Then why did our dearest MC recieve an invitation to play this game?
Was it because he was handsome?
Or because he is the only person who can truly see all the potential in nen?
Only time will tell.
But even then...
The question that he should be asking is...
If he's the only one who has recieved an invite.

Lior was recently scrolling through twitter looking at the latest news about his favourite childhood anime and manga Hunter X Hunter...
The 1999 Hunter X Hunter anime adaptation, the 2011 adaptation...
He's seen both and he's even read the manga...
And re-read it atleast a dozen or so times.
He pretty much knew all that there was to know when it comes to the show.
So could you imagine his surprise when an alert popped up on his phone inviting to play a new Hunter X Hunter game?
No you could n- actually maybe you could, you did go through the same thing afterall.
Anyway, the instant he saw the notification pop up on his phone, he immediately clicked on the link, and that's when it happened.
His body started to disintegrate into tiny particles and enter through the screen, which was shining a beautifully bright white light.
His face was the epitome of shock, infact his surprise was so great even stopped thinking entirely, as if he entered some sort of daze.
---
When he awoke he was presented with a screen, like one of those you would usually see when reading a manhua or manga, though it still took him a few dozen seconds before he started pinching his arm and wondering if this was all real or just some hallucination.
Lior knew he couldn't waste his time in a daze, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, so he got to work.
"Lets see, what do we have here?" There was an underlying tone in his voice, one typically seen in middle school girls.
Feeling ready to take on the world, Lior started reading.

[Welcome user000001.]
[Please design your avatar]
'My avatar? Hmm... white hair is kinda overused... everyone and their dog has it, so I guess I'll go with black hair, I think I prefer it over my currently brown hair.'
'There's no real need to change my physique, I'm quite fit, I do calisthenics, sure I could use a bit more muscle mass but I like my lithe but well built body, it's kinda like that of a gymnasts.'
'As for my eye colour, I think I'll go with light amber, just like Hisoka, wholly for the fun of it.'
"Black hair, same body build and light amber eyes."
[Very well.]

'So it's asking for a name, huh?'
"Might aswell just use my own name."
[Lior]
[Welcome Lior, please choose what difficulty you would like to play the game at.]
[Beginner- You are given a random hatsu, an aura pool increase of 15,000 aura units and mastery over the 4 main principles of nen. (zetsu, ren, ten and hatsu)]
[Intermediate- You are given an aura pool increase of 10,000 aura units and basic mastery of the 4 basic principles of nen.]
[Advanced- You are given a aura pool increase of 5,000 aura units and a basic mastery over zetsu and ten.]
{Expert~ Your aura is awakened.}
[Disclamer: All stages are transported to the same archipelago, but you will be transported to the island most suited to your chosen difficulty.]
'Hmm, this a.i said that I would be transported to the island most suited to the level of difficulty I choose right? Then doesn't this mean if I choose the {Expert} difficulty I'll have it the easiest, I mean wouldn't I be the weakest if I chose the {Expert} difficulty; therefore I would be transported to the if not one of the weakest islands?'
'Plus, the {Expert} difficulty looks fancier than the others...'
'It's even written in gold unlike the rest of the options which are written in black...'
'I... even the brackets look fancy...'
"I've already established that it's more likely for me to be transported to a weaker island if I choose the {Expert} difficulty, besides games are meant to be enjoyed... and we really don't know when the next chapters will be up... Shouldn't I just take my time with this and challenge myself a bit?"
"Besides, I've already spent months thinking about the perfect hatsu for myself... I'm sure it'll all be fine, just fine...
Right?"
"Yeah yeah yeah, it's gotta be, I'm sure of it."
He was frantically trying to rationalize his potentially life-threatening decision, hurriedly bobbing his head up and down like some sort of punk.
"...I choose the {Expert} difficulty..." Lior said so in a quiet voice.
[Very well, good luck.]
"Huh, what do you mean by that?!"
It was at this moment he knew he f--
*WHOOSH*
Yup~ that what the wind sounds like when your over 5,000 metres -(about 16,400 feet, it takes about 75 seconds to until you impact the ground form this height when freefalling)- up in the air, falling to your death.
"Huh?! WTF is this?! Isn't this meant to be a game!"
Was this idiot so high on adrenaline and dopamine that he didn't notice he was already inside the game?
Oh and let's not forget~ his nen was also just awakened, so not only is he falling to his death, but his aura is starting to deplete.
"Hah, I've gotta calm down, and take some deep breaths."
*Gasp* *huff* *gasp* *huff*
While breathing like a fish out of water, he started focusing on the aura leaving his body and tried to wrap it around himself, it only took him a few tries, until he got it down to a rough and ready level.
You'd be surprised how efficent and strong your brain, body and willpower are when your one step away from death and since the powersystem of nen works on willpower it shouldn't really be surprising if Lior was going develope a 'One time fall damage immunity' hatsu right about now, but that's unlikely, he's panicing pretty heavily now, but it could be said that that's just the fear of death doing it's job.
I suppose he is quite the bit talented, but thats to be expected this man taught himself to get goosebumps on command in just a few days, which is supposed to be impossible to do since the tiny muscles that pull up your skin to form bumps don't have a conscious connection to the brain, and it isn't like nen is a concept that heavily relies heavily on talent, one could say that being competent is a more defining factor in the world of nen.
"I've gotta look for some trees, something to break my fall! If I can't I've gotta just try and land properly while I sheild myself with this rudimentary ten of mine."
---
Words~1300.
It's possible to get goosebumps on command all you have to really do is just think of something you find epic or repeat that one epic song in your head until you do get goosebumps.
please make more it is a great story and its one of the best things I have read
I'm going to take my time with it, and I won't rush it, this chapter that you just read was probably edited like 5 times or so, I'm also in the process of reading a martial arts book to make any future fight scenes better and what not, and I'm doing some other stuff in the mean time, but you'll see another chapter up in a few days or so.
Reads like a 12 year olds si, which is him and all he does is brag in a cringe way.
I hope the si didnt mean suicide ideation, that's not a really good thing to joke about, as for the bragging where was that? I'm a new writer so obviously my first chapter was by no means great, and I wanted the story to have some difficulty to it, if I gave him the easiest option there was the story would be finished much quicker, nen isn't really a powersystem that relies on cheats, you can litterally do anything with it, I don't think it's fair to judge the protagonist in one chapter. Your welcome to criticise my work as much as you want, just please be reasonable about it.
S.i is self insert. The weird bragging starts with the goosebumps thing and never really stops. 1 you shouldn't have even given him a choice of difficulty. The choice adds nothing , but shows a weird ego with the m.c 2 falling and learning and using nen. Nope... just no. It defies disbelief that you could do so while falling etc. Start small. And the line that said multiple transmigrators kinda sucks. That never works out well.
@Chaddts I see, it was my way of trying to show the mc is a bit more unique and eccentric compared to other people, as for the difficulty choice and the multiple transmigators, it'll spicen up the story, just because others couldn't end it well doesn't mean I can't, and as for starting small, why would I do that, every other hxh fic is all about the hxh exam and the phantom troupe or whatever, besides my main story focus is all about using nen properly if the main character was able to relax and properly create his hatsu in peace then he'd become the strongest in a few years and no more, story done and dusted, and aside from netero, ging, beyond and the dark continent no one would have been able to challenge him, but starting 'big' I'm essentially creating an entire ecosystem in which the main character will get some characer development and what not, I don't want to delve into uncharted territory with the dark continent or go re-write the original story, the whole premise is to get back to civilisation, and then have fun from there, nen is intersting, I want my story to explore nen and maybe the world of hunter hunter since togashi is coming out with new chapters, not to bore people with an ridiculously op protagonist that did nothing to deserve his powers.
@water yes ,but the ego needed to think somehow this m.c does something that many talented geniuses failed to do is hard on my sense of disbelief. In some anime you could call the characters dumb and lacking imagination. I don't think hxh is one of them. This isn't dragonball where a single line of dialog could avoid an entire arc. This is hxh where the people do indeed have common sense.
@Chaddts yes, hunter x hunter is very much one of them, most characters in that show are complete and utter imbeciles when it comes to using nen, like why didnt killua think of using poisonous lightning? or why did killua never try to conjure real lightning, surely it would be stronger than his transmutated lightning right? And don't get me started on the crappy uses of nen that exist out there, like that one guy who eats hair, or pitou's doctor bylthe, she doesn't even have to put conditions on doctor blythe, she has enough aura to waste without even lowering the hatsu's healing power, and what has the mc done that many talented genius's couldnt do? all he did was open his aura nodes wider immitating ren and tried to retain as much aura as possible this can only be called 'ken' on paper, in actuality if you were to go to bisky or another nen master and called that 'ken' they would completely ignore you and think your losing your mind.
@water you have given someone 75 seconds to survive a certain death fall, by learning 2 techniques that they could never practice before. And no, almost all of those characters didn't have flaws in their usage but rather limitation in their skill and amount of aura they had. The only reason Killua could use his nen as he did is do to the familiarity and training. Real lightning would likely kill killua, or be too taxing to be efficient and remember gon and killua are young children for the entire hxh story. If it wasn't for kite they would never have been involved in the chimera ant arc. They are novices as far as technique goes they just have great potential. Most people do not have that potential nor affinity with multiple branches of nen, and those that do are exceedingly rare. Kurapika made his judgment blade just to gain the strength to get his revenge because his talent was just that lacking. I think you are making the idea of conjuration nen for too lax. Unless you specialize in it, I dont see anyone summoning the testing gates or something that by its intrinsic properties makes it efficient. I don't think an emitter could conjure a rubber wall to negate killuas lighting for instance. I don't think it would be easy, or efficient.
@water also killua never used lightning he used electricity. Not even his own he just stored it using his aura. He didn't even make it himself. And you want him to make a lightning bolt? That's like going from handguns to rockets and missiles. I just think that you are lowering the bar too much. Rather than thinking that the peoe are stupid look for where they are limited. Not everyone in hxh has the potential of Netero. If nen was this easy it would be far more common knowledge than the open secret it is.
@Chaddts sure killua used electricity, but isnt electricity lightning? And what about the potential of netero? Potential is the last thing you need when it comes to nen use, its is completely and utterly useless if you have a good hatsu, the only things potential and talent are good for in nen are the basic and advanced principles and the initial creation of your hatsu, if you have a good enough hatsu your need for potential and talent become irrelevant. And netero is one of the worst nen users ever, he wasted all of his 'potential' bro could have created hundreds of hatsu, even the regular person should be able to create at least 5 different hatsu within one week, ( conjuration, manipulation and tansmutation hatsu) water, light, sound, air, earth, blood? all you have to be is creative, and you have an entire world worth of abilites to explore, all netero did was train his body and create a unmoving statue, good job, you failed in the most important aspect of nen, creativity. And if killua can transmutate his aura into electricity (which is stated in the story) he should be able to conjure it with enough taining. And for my previous statement about potential and talent you will see it's complete and utter irrelevancy once his main hatsu is developed.
@water Gain i think you are thinking these things are easy. I don't think developing hatsu is easy or should be easy.
@Chaddts welp, specialists are stated to be able to create them through will alone, just like neyon nostrade, she say a fortune teller on tv and low and behold she gained a fortune telling hatsu, simply because she wanted to be a fortune teller, specialists can also create abilities through the 'need' of them, it could be said tsseridnich created his hatsu or nen beast through need as theta was going to shoot him in the head, I'm pretty sure he also created them unconciously too. As for the other aura types their hatsu were mostly created offscreen so its hard to know.
