The next few days after Makarov's return went by pretty quickly. 

Erza returned the leadership of the guild to Makarov and the spirit of Mavis, the first guildmaster explained the history of her relationship with Zeref and the Fairy Heart. 

Makarov also informed the guild the intel he found out about Zeref aka Emperor Spriggan and also whatever he knew about the Spriggan 12. 

The whole guild went through their plans and preparations, even evacuating the town. However, Emperor took off, preparing his own plans. 

He had informed Makarov that he would be helping out the guild in the war, but he would rather take on the enemy forces in his own way, since he claimed his magic is not offensive, rather it's meant to be used as a surprise. 

Makarov was not happy with Emperor's explanation, but he remembered how effective Emperor was in his own way during the Tartaros attack, literally sabotaging the enemies at every plan of theirs, yet not being directly involved in any serious one on one battles. 

"That boy.... is so mysterious. But I have to admit, he is effective" Makarov said. 

Mavis' ghost nodded next to him. "I know for certain that he won't betray the guild and will be extremely effective in the war, but I somehow think he has his own motives for everything." she answered. 

Makarov nodded in return and seemed to be lost in his own thoughts.

A day later, there was a sudden attack on the guild by 50 airships that were cloaked, bypassing the guild's radar defenses. Mavis rang the alarm bells to alert the whole guild.

Suddenly their radar finally started detecting more enemies, revealing that there were 300 airships coming from the north with 3 Spriggan Knights on them, another 300 airships from the south with another 3 Spriggan Knights, and 1 million forces from the east with another 3 Spriggan Knights!

Instead of joining the battle, he was at home banging Lucy to their heart's content.

Lucy looked at his back as he slowly vanished. Was that the attitude of a man going to battle? It looked like he was going for a stroll in the park, the way he walked leisurely with no urgency whatsoever. However, he seemed as if he was always in control, so she trusted him.

Emperor took his time, not worrying about what was happening, since he already knew what was going to happen anyway.

He summoned Ultear to help the air sisters to deal with Dimaria, but besides that, he was just biding his time, waiting for the right moment. 

After all, he had already acquired August, Brandish and Acnologia. Furthermore, he had taken out God Serena and incapacitated Jacob. The rest of the battle should be easier than the original storyline for Fairy Tail. 

He suddenly heard Gajeel's voice in his head, telling all Fairy Tail members to race to the guild. 

Emperor tapped his chin, trying to remember what happens next. 

Just then, the whole world seemed to be moving, changing in a strange way. 

"Ah yes... Universe One. It's about time" he said, getting up.

Mirajane had just finished defeating Irene's two enchanted swords using Satan Soul: Mirajane Alegria when she was captured by Irene who ties her to a pillar and starts burning her clothes off.

If he acquired Zeref and Mavis, things would be even more convoluted. 

So the rest of the war happened as it did in the manga, without the added threat and battle with Acnologia. 

Emperor only did the minimum and stole some magic spells such as Neinhart's [Historia of the Dead] which he thought was an interesting spell to have.

At the victory party, the guild celebrated their incredible victory that went against all odds.

There were several important announcements that Makarov made. 

Firstly, he announced that he was getting too old and he is appointing Gildarts again to be the 9th Guild Master. 

This time, he willingly accepted as he wanted to spend more time with Cana, his daughter anyway. 

The second is that several members will be taking the S-Class trials again, as a trial should have been held every year, but none has been held since the S-Class trials several years ago on Tenrou Island which ended up suspended.

Because of the many years skipped, there were more candidates than usual. 

Besides the earlier candidates of the aborted trial like Natsu, Gray, Elfman, Cana, Levy, Freed and Mest, there were others who were also invited to the trial such as Lucy, Gajeel, Loki, Wendy and Emperor as well. 

While announcing this, Gildarts looked at Emperor, who seemed cool and calm about it, not unlike the rest who all showed great excitement. 

They were all told to go back and make preparations as the trials would be held in a weeks time. 

As everyone left, Makarov looked at Gildarts and asked "What do you think of Emperor?" 

"He looks quite confident. His record has been impressive, but somehow I always felt that he had his own agenda" Gildarts answered. 

"I know. But so far, he's proven to be trustworthy and does not wish harm on the guild. Also, he has a close relationship with team Natsu, especially as he is in a relationship with Lucy.... as well as Mirajane. " Makarov said. 

"And the two are ok with that?" Gildarts asked. 

"I don't know. But apparently Mirajane is living with Lucy and Emperor now" Makarov answered. 

Gildarts shook his head. "I hope such a thing will not cause any fractures within Fairy Tail" he said, having many lovers in his history before. 

Makarov nodded silently. 

"Did you hear the reports of his battle from the Wizard Saints?" Makarov asked. 

"Yes... Unbelievable defeating God Serena so easily. He really hides his strength" Gildarts said. 

Makarov again nodded silently.

Back at Lucy's apartment, Emperor started on his work. 

With God Serena's 8 dragon lacrimas, giving the user dragon level elemental powers, Emperor upgraded Avatar Korra's body.
