'Who are you?’ I asked, but all that escaped from my non-existent lips was silence.

Oh, that’s right…I’m a fucking worm.

No matter how much times passes, I can never quite get used to this.

Observing Dennis, I was shocked to find he remained perfectly still, unlike me who had to spin in circles to stay in a single place. I tried asking him how he does that, but I once again forgot I couldn’t speak. It was frustrating. Even more so when he burst out laughing, mockery basking his googly eyes.

“You can’t speak, nor can you command your body properly, how did a country bumpkin like you ever manage to surpass me?”

I silently slithered around Dennis, hoping to ensnarl him in my trap so I could devour his orbs and grow twice my size. He noticed, obviously, but he didn’t seem to care, instead continuing to flaunt his yapping mouth with a monologue.

“Honestly, it’s a good thing you’re so bad at this game. It just makes killing you even easier. Soon, I’ll assimilate with your soul ores and grow twice in size, making me several steps closer to becoming the last worm slithering!”

Dennis manically laughed as I approached closer. Until he abruptly stopped, his googly eyes unnaturally narrowing as he looked at me with disgust.

“Attempting to kill someone while they’re talking. How despicable.”

His coiled body rapidly uncoiled as he attacked me with the edge of his tail. I couldn’t even react; it had happened so fast my body erroneously contorted.

For the first time since forever, I felt pain, actual pain. And it was far worse than any of the pain I had felt in my entire life. It surged through my body, looking for a way out, but could not find one, it simply bottled inside me, raging like a fire and ready to blow my body to pieces.

“Would you look at that?” Dennis spoke amused, if he had a mouth, his smile would look sickening. “You finally learned how to stay in place.”

I couldn’t move.

Out of weakness or out of fear, I could only watch as Dennis joyously approached me, smothering me with his sick and disgusting face.

We locked eyes and contested with silence.

I could see a smile in his eyes.

Was he enjoying this?

Seeing me suffer, knowing my fate was at his hands (tail?(head?))?

I couldn’t help but laugh, if but only internally, such sadistic eyes were all too familiar. Even if I could no longer remember my past, I remembered my fears.

And in those fears, a fragmented memory resurfaced.

***

A flash of light shuttered my eyes, I could hear the sound of giggles and laughter as I covered my face in shame.

I was naked and exposed, a tight dressed outfitted my body.

It was a wonder woman costume.

I loved wonder woman.

But I felt ashamed.

I didn’t want to be wonder woman.

The tips of my ears were burning, and scorching tears dampened my eyes.

“Do it!” They jested.

“Do it!” They shouted.

“Do it!” They ordered.

And so, I did.

***

Rage and humiliation fueled my body, I forced it to move, just as it’s always done. I forced it to move. Like a complete animal, I violently thrashed towards Dennis, hoping to rip off those stupid googly eyes off his stupid worm face.

I no longer cared about surviving.

I only cared about killing.

But like the slimly little worm that he was, he kept dodging my attacks. Like an adult blocking a child’s fists, he did it with easy, all while leading me on like graceful dancer.

My body was screaming in pain, I just couldn’t bottle it all in. This pain had to come out. It just had to.

Like a pressurized knife, all my agony and frustrations gathered in one single place and tore me open a bloody, gaping mouth. Permitting release of an ear-deafening scream that could be heard all across the world.

Dennis looked at me with shock and surprise, he stopped at his tracks as he attempted to comprehend what had just happened.

But I wouldn’t let him.

I ignited like a white flame and slammed towards his body, gracing him with the same pain I now felt he. He screamed, but I wanted him to scream louder.

I landed hit after hit, each harder than the last, and each scream louder than last. It came to a point where bright coloured orbs started oozing out his still living body. It was only when he could no longer scream that I granted him mercy and finally killed him. Promptly devouring all his orbs before anyone else could.

I couldn’t help but grin.
