As Laura approached the walls of the Florence capital, a sense of eerie quiet surrounded her. The devastation was palpable, with the rubble of the walls scattered about. She dismounted her horse, tethering it on a nearby tree branch, and cautiously stepped forward, eyes scanning the desolate walls.

Laura ascended over the broken remnants of the once-mighty walls of Florence, as she crossed into the city she could see that the city was now reduced to a graveyard of crumbled structures and debris. The stench of death lingered in the air, an unsettling reminder of the recent chaos that had unfolded within these now desolate streets.

She could see an uncountable amount of bodies lay scattered across the streets, a majority not even resembling people anymore. Some burned beyond recognition, some crushed underneath the debris of the very walls they were protecting. Laura's gaze swept over the lifeless forms, but she felt no empathy stir within her.

Amidst the eerie silence, piercing screams echoed in the distance, slicing through the stillness of the ruined city. Laure felt a pang of curiosity at the sound. With measured steps, she maneuvered through the debris-strewn streets, her senses heightened and instincts on high alert.

As she drew closer to the source of the agonized cries, the chaos became more apparent. Laura found herself in a maze of destruction, navigating through the remnants of what was once a bustling part of the city. People, both civilians and soldiers alike, frantically dashed between collapsed buildings, their panicked shouts intermingling with the wails of the injured.

Arriving at the heart of the commotion, she witnessed a scene of desperation and suffering. Injured civilians clamored for aid while Florence soldiers attempted to maintain a semblance of order amidst the turmoil.

Her eyes fell upon a group of survivors trapped beneath a collapsed structure, their anguished cries for help barely audible amid the cacophony.

As Laura looked at the trapped survivors, she witnessed a distressing scene unfold. Florence soldiers, their weariness etched upon their faces, seemed resigned to the fate of those trapped beneath the rubble. Their gazes barely lingered on the desperate cries for help, a grim acknowledgment that these souls were beyond saving in their eyes.

Amidst this desolation, a flicker of movement caught the attention of one Florence soldier. Their eyes narrowed as they spotted Laura, clad in the recognizable attire of a Kingdom of Dawn soldier. Suspicion and tension radiated from the Florence soldiers as they braced themselves, ready for confrontation. They drew their weapons and pointed them at her.

Ignoring the hostile stares, Laura drew closer to the trapped survivors. She knelt beside them, her expression devoid of the typical emotions that might accompany such a grim scene. "Do you want me to end your suffering?" Her voice was calm, almost detached, as she addressed the trapped individuals.

Their eyes widened in disbelief, startled by the unexpected question. Some looked at her with confusion, while others, their faces contorted in pain, nodded weakly, their voices too feeble to form words.

The Florence soldiers, now fully aware of Laura's intentions, stepped forward, their hands tightening around their weapons. They exchanged wary glances, uncertain of the soldier's motives, but ready to defend against any perceived threat.

Unperturbed by their hostile stance, Laura focused solely on the survivors. Ignoring the tension that hung in the air, she readied her claws, a gesture that further heightened the soldiers' readiness for a confrontation.

"A demon?" One solider mumbled.

Her movements were swift and merciful, a quiet act of compassion amidst the chaos. As she completed this solemn task, a sense of peace settled upon the faces of those whose pain was now alleviated.

The tension between the Florence soldiers and Laura remained palpable, the standoff hovering on the edge of conflict.

"I'll ask you all again, do you want me to end your suffering?"

However, before the remaining people could answer the Florence soldiers, their faces etched with anguish and rage, pointed accusatory fingers at Laura and the Kingdom of Dawn, blaming them for the destruction that befell their city.

"You did this! You destroyed our walls, slaughtered our people!" one of the Florence soldiers accused, their voice trembling with fury and grief.

Laura's gaze hardened, her eyes meeting the soldier's accusation with a steely resolve. "No, we didn't," she replied firmly, her voice unwavering despite the weight of the accusations.

But her denial fell on deaf ears. The soldiers, fueled by anger and anguish, refused to believe her words. To them, she was an emblem of the enemy force that had wreaked havoc upon their once-thriving city. The devastation before them was a testament to the brutality of the conflict, and they sought retribution, a semblance of justice amid the ruins.

Laura knew her words would struggle to penetrate the veil of bitterness and sorrow that clouded the soldiers' judgment. Her allegiance to the Kingdom of Dawn painted her as an adversary, no matter her intentions or the truth she spoke.

As the accusations continued to fly, the tension escalated, reaching a boiling point. The soldiers, consumed by grief and fury, brandished their weapons, their faces contorted with anger.

"Of course a country that would have a demon on their side would do anything to win this war. You Dawn bastards won't rest until you've taken everything from us!"

"I understand your pain, but I am not your enemy. We seek information, not destruction. My mission is to uncover the truth behind this chaos."

"Shut up!"

The soldiers' fury boiled over, their accusations sharpened by grief and rage. As they lunged at Laura with weapons drawn, their voices drowned in a cacophony of anger and anguish, the air crackling with tension.

In a swift and calculated motion, Laura evaded their frenzied strikes with agile precision. Her movements were fluid, almost dance-like, as she sidestepped each attack. In a swift counter, she incapacitated all four soldiers in one decisive motion, rendering them unconscious with calculated strikes to the back of each of their necks.

The sudden turn of events sent shockwaves through the surrounding chaos. Panic rippled among those still trapped under debris, their cries escalating with fear at the unexpected clash. The chaos amplified as the soldiers who witnessed the confrontation reacted with a mix of surprise and apprehension.

Seeing their comrades subdued by the Kingdom of Dawn soldier only fueled the growing tension. Confusion and panic rippled through the soldiers and survivors alike, uncertainty gripping the already volatile atmosphere.

Aware of the escalating turmoil, Laura swiftly regained her composure. She turned her attention to the frightened civilians trapped amidst the rubble, her demeanor as calm as ever.

Laura, despite the chaos and tension around her, approached the trapped civilians with a composed yet resolute demeanor. Her intention was to offer what she believed was a swift end to their suffering amidst the chaos that surrounded them.

As she moved closer to those pinned beneath the rubble, her hand poised to offer a merciful resolution, the trapped individuals, their faces etched with fear and pain, recoiled at her approach. Some raised trembling hands, their voices strained with anguish, pleading for her to stay back.

"Please... don't...," one of them managed to utter amidst gasps for breath, his eyes wide with fear, even though he was beyond saving he would rather die a slow and painful death than be given mercy by a Dawn soldier.

"I won't force it." She stepped back, giving them space, her actions a testament to her respect for their choices amidst their suffering.

Laura's steps were measured as she attempted to move away from the tense confrontation, seeking to refocus on her mission amidst the chaos that enveloped the devastated city. However, the remaining soldiers, shaken by the unexpected turn of events, intercepted her path, their resolve mixed with a trace of uncertainty.

As they blocked her way, their faces etched with a mix of hesitation and determination, Laura halted in her tracks, turning back to face them. Her gaze, normally composed, now held a cold, unwavering determination, a stark contrast to the chaos and desperation that surrounded them.

"Just because I incapacitated your comrades doesn't mean the outcome will be the same for you," she stated with a chilling calmness, her voice cutting through the tense air. Her words were laced with a warning, a subtle reminder of the consequences of further confrontation.

The soldiers, visibly unnerved by her steely resolve, hesitated in their stance. The weight of her threat, coupled with the uncertainty of the situation, left them frozen, caught between their duty and the potential repercussions of challenging the Kingdom of Dawn soldier.

Without waiting for their response, Laura turned away from them once more, her demeanor still radiating a silent warning. With each purposeful step she took toward the heart of the capital, her resolve remained unshaken, her mind focused on the mission despite the lingering tension that hung in the air.

The soldiers, gripped by the unexpected turn of events and the veiled threat in Laura's words, remained rooted to the spot. Laura however, did not care what they did. Just so long as they didn't attempt to stop her mission.
