Tori's Pov:

Were my actions strange?
I thought to myself.

I scratch my head as I felt sour all over.
At least the pain finally subsided.

But the fact that I am stuck in a wheelchair from over-doing it,
Should be no surprise at all...

"You could have done things differently, you know? "

Was the snarky remark of my dear sister.
As she pushed my chair as we were sent to Lotte and Nelly's manor.
Why?

Because we are the cause why most of the classes were canceled.
Turn's out incapacitating our professors would lead to such a dilemma.
Though, I could only shrug.

Talie then simply said.
"They are just using the professor's as an excuse just to attack us.
In actual fact most of them are actually really happy that our gruesome training was postponed."

Which she easily shrugged off.
Well, it does make sense.

Getting a break is a breather from this cruel regime they put the young nobles through...
Though, I can understand why they are training the youths of this world to be capable fighters.
But why stress so much about being so strong in such a world?

If mana in the air had grown this powerful.
It means the hostile monsters and even the flying beasts would grow in strength and ferocity.
Shouldn't the study of magic be more prevalent and more important?

And yet most of them lack this important aspect.
Allowing their own laziness to take over and use tools instead.

Completely using them without knowing what they have done.

I sighed...

Magic isn't just a wave of a hand for it happen.
There is are laws and rules inside of it to follow to avoid harming oneself and it seems only a few can understand them such as the healers of this world.

But...

After careful consideration.
There is no safe place in this world anymore.
Even the island where we once lived had a few monsters roaming in the forest.

In the past Talie and I had to hunt down them down for practice despite being children.
They were weak due to the barriers released by the island shield generators.
However if left unattended, they can still cause harm.

My kind must have shared this defensive spell to the humans to defend themselves from the natural effects of the sky.

Normally being in such a high place would cause detrimental effects.
Which would lead to many problems...

But...
 ~Let's return to the present.~
This place was oddly neat, comfortable and extremely big.
Not a speck of dust it's almost unnerving as these drones float and do every tedious task in this place.

Not to mention these servants here are intently watching me for some strange reason.

One of them soon asked.

"You have quite a graceful way of drinking. " complements of the butler.
As I calmly drank tea in my wheelchair I had a taste of a specific tea.
I have composed of pain-relieving herbs that I grew addicted to...

But for some ungodly reason, it's insane prices were killing me from the inside out.
Not to mention the name of this is called "Goddess Tea."
I have a bad feeling about the name but didn't want to know anything more...

Turns out Lotte and Nelly family was filthy rich to even afford something like this!
But if they can buy out the debt we had that carried atleast 7 digits of down-payment for the damages caused by my family.

I should be thankful that, it haven't affected them whilst bailing us out from this frustrating problem.

I then thanked the butler and asked.
"Thank you very much.
But can you lead us to our rooms.
My sister and I would like to rest."

"Why of course." He happily smiled and guided us after that.

Talie is a pilfer.
If she see shiny things, she kind of instinctively take them without realizing it.
It seems her words were true, that she truly was a theif.

But after seeing her memories.
I can understand the reason why she became like this.

A child born from a poor household.
With nothing left to gain, only to steal is her way to survive.
Get caught and you lose everything.

To be cunning, selfish and quick.
To harden your heart and claim the world for yourself.
Ignoring laws and remaining in the dark.

Always running and fighting for her daily meals.

Because life is cruel as even to a meager young girl such as herself.
She was left with no choice but to live in the shadows of her world.

But despite her appearances,
she carried a rare kindness despite such misfortune.
She once confessed she tried to possess me when I was young.

However, was unable to bear the memories I carried and chose to alter my own to guide me instead.

When I once asked her. "Why didn't you possess me?"

She simply looked away.
"I can't call myself a human
If I did such a thing you know?

But If I did such a thing...
The only thing I could call myself would undoubtedly be a demon." were her words to me.

My mother who was a necromancer was facisnated with Luria. (Luria = Talie)
She believed her to be an Enheirar a heroic spirit.
But she said otherwise, unable to accept it.

"Who would believe a thief was a heroic spirit.
You must be mad!" she retorted to her with my mother replied to her words with...

"But you do not understand, what you have become.
The things you have changed, no matter how little can reshape a spirit you know?

Are you saying that by saving your daughter I became such a being?"

"It is quite a possibility.

After all...
Spirits who remain in the material and spiritual world are unique.

Normally they become a fiend or a monster.
And yet you retained your sanity and met my daughter without any kind of hostility!

Such a thing is undoubtedly rare...
Don't you agree?" My past-life mother excitedly said.

Talie was completely grossed out.
As a person she believes she is evil.
And yet I find her inner self to be quite pure.

Aside from her shenanigans,
She is quite reliable when requested to do simple tasks.
But her constant babbling and teasing is probably the only thing I dislike the most.

-Returning to reality-

As soon as we were guided to a large bedroom Talie leapt unto the bed and made a wide grin as she showed her easy-going nature.

"So, tell me why did you go on a rampage instead of calmly ending it.
Watching one of my limbs being broken shouldn't have pissed you off that far.

It's something else isn't it?"

I sighed, she hit the nail on that part.
She always knew the flow of my thoughts.
Though, I'm not surprised.

She possessed me for a long time.
"Ah-"

"Oh wait!" She cried out to me, before I could speak.

Talie, nodded and threw something in my hand.
She placed it on her ears and tapped it.
Urging me to do the same.

(What a strange device.) was my first thought as it appears to be an earpiece.

When I did the same as her.
Her thoughts then flowed into my head.

"Baster gave us this so we can communicate, in-case something happens.
He requested this from Ms.Lotte and gave it to us.
With a simple phrase: The walls have ear's."

At this point I understood.
If someone overhears us talking about our past life or the secrets of the ark seals which he carries.
It can turn into a big problem later...

"This is quite an interesting device..." I replied to her.

She then explained.

"It has a radius of 5 kilometer's he claimed.
So we can't communicate if we are too far apart."

Then her gaze became serious as she asked with a wide smile.

"So... please explain.
Your not the type to risk being reckless like this."

"Yes...
It's in regards to what my descendants did."

I gave her a bitter expression where she gave a wry smile in exchange.

"They did a ridiculous choice of breaking tradition and begun to mingle with humans."

Talie replied. "Isn't that what you were after?"

"Wrong!, what I was after was keeping the bloodline of the light dragons alive.
And changing the name of the demons into demi-humans.

But...
With them mingling with humans the bloodline will undoubtedly..."

"Thin out..."

Were Talie's words then she said.
"But you turned out, quite alright?"

"You and I are different and you should understand why that is..."

Talie sighed and recalled it.
"To carry the blessing of the spirit lord meant.
You can transcend into a true dragon despite being a half."

"Yes, and not all human carry that blessing and potential.
Those who tried to pursued the same path as me will undoubtedly..."

"Perish." were her grim words.

An undeniable truth that nearly claimed even her own life without knowing.
When she realized the light dragon's blood effects on humans.
She understood a certain fact...

*Compatibility between human and light dragons were extremely poor.*

They were fragile and vulnerable even to their own magic causing imbalance and lowering their own lifespan in the process and a certain risk of killing themselves by their own power.

"This is about Milim isn't it."

"Yes, regarding milim.

she has potential.

 But...
If she further pursues it.
It would be difficult and going to be quite dire for her."

"Human and dragons are just...
Two different side of a coin.
Fragile flesh.
Thick burning blood and scales.

It's just not worth it.

The pain and things I went through just to obtain its power.
Not every one of my race can experience what I have...

Not to mention...

She carries a seal on her that technically seals her power as a dragon.
But... it's completely weakening as she ages."

Talie was shocked.

"Hah?...
But why seal it?" she said in shock.

"I don't really know." I replied.

"The Demi human-kingdom does not share knowledge with the outside.
Those who sought to live outside its borders are not permitted to expose their secret or even teach them for their own children as it risk exposing and becoming potential threats to their own motherland.

An Oath of silence.
Only when they return to the demi-human kingdom only then can they learn of this truth."

"I see...
So they sealed it instead of teaching her how to control it better..."

Tori nod's but her bitter expression was written on her face.

"Those stupid descendants of mine...
They didn't even make contingencies for the sake of those who are born a half.
Ah... why did I have to die that soon!"

Lamenting of my own death and now experiencing the flaws of my homeland causing troubles to her own kind.

"AAAaaaah... I should have focused more on the youths."

Talie could hear her moaning frustration and finally understood  the problems.

"Now it explains why you were so angry.
But you are aware we are in quite deep trouble.

By taking out your anger at them."

With a deeply frustrated expression, I said to her.

"I have to let out my steam one way or another...
Not to mention, letting them butcher the purpose of education.
Is not something I would tolerate!

Aside from that.
you should stop that bad habit of stealing before you get caught.

One of the butler's saw you snag that gold cup."

"Eh? Really."

"He was miticulously gazing at you with intent.
But it appear's Ms.Lotte had orders given to not cause any problems to us."

Talie then laughed.

"Busted, I guess."

A small cup came out of her hand.
It was endowed with jewels that drew Talie in.
A decoration of Lotte's house.

"I should return this..."

"But still, for you to steal even the professor's and student's tools.
I feel like we are screwed if someone caught you in the act, when the illusion was removed."

Talie dryly laughed.

"They have quite strong tools that I had to plunder them while they were out cold.
With the drones out of commission inside the arena, it was a good chance to do so..."

"Do you even feel guilt from doing such things?"

"HA GUILT! you are the last person I would like to hear that from!

You who tormented that poor lad.
Until he passed out while begging like a puppy being kicked by a little girl!

Oh the humiliation!"

Tori lamented that as she sighed.

"I did go too far with that didn't I..."

"Can't be helped.
Old habits die hard when you once acted like an unstoppable goddess of this world."

"Stop it." she bitterly said.

Tori expression went pale as she recalled her reckless life.
She then said.

"Still quite rejecting your old self, aren't cha?"

"Can you blame me?
No matter how many good things I have done.
Those nitwits still can't figure how to deal with such simple problems!"

Talie shrugged towards her complaints.

"Even if you say that...
it's not like they carry the same power and influence you once had...
But if you do intend to make contact with them again.

You are aware of the risks that would happen."

Tori bit her lips and held her head in frustration.

"I know.
I am aware."

Talie deeply sighed.

"You're going to make contact with them again?"

"No other choice..."

"Tori...
Your no longer-"

"Yes.
They might no longer be there.
Or that place might not even exist anymore.

But if there is even a fraction of chance that they are still there.

Still working...

They might become the edge we need should this world try to swallow us."

Talie scratcher her head.

"I just hope this won't bite us in the ass, later..."

"Same here.
But do we even have a choice at this point?

With this many enemies aimed at us.
We are going to need a solid wall to keep these fiends at bay."

Even in this time...
Nobles remain to be aggressive...
If one of their attempts failed.
They will stop at nothing to reach us.
But before that happens.
I need to find a way to seal away their attempt to harm us.

Even if it means contacting an old friend.
