This is a story.
=3=" not like I intended it there to piss readers off or make them feel guilty about it.

For the light dragons.
Their scales never regenerate.
Once it is plucked.

It is gone for good.
Especially for the half-bloods.

I realized this fact.
The moment I recklessly fought a beast stronger than I.
When I barely even know how to fight.

It was the first time I experienced it.

As half-human...

The cut I received from that fiend.
Will linger in my mind till the day I died...

...

These silver scales are quite special.
Fragile yet quite powerful.

It can become damaged.
And restore itself as long as it remains on the skin.
Crack form as it breaks into pieces while remaining on the skin.

However it bleeds like a heavy wounds lasting for months.
As it spreads, turning into larger scales. Multiplying.

It looks like a disease spreading but it's actually increasing its ability to shield its owner from harm by doing so...

The more it covers the body, the less likely it is to break easily against the strongest form of magic.
Was what my studies led me.
However...

The scale that was plucked remained untouched.
No, it became a scar that never healed.
Turning into a fatal gap in our defense.

Why did it end in such a way? I don't know.
What horrors did my race face?
When greed took over mankind.

When they plucked all their scales to further their greed and ambitions.
And used their blood to lengthen their lives like some kind of cattle.
As pure-blooded light dragons cannot survive if they cannot feed upon light.
Using their scales like objects, they perished in the end.

I shudder to think how did my race fell so easily.
Which is why, I came up with a plan for a way for them to remain untouched even in human lands.
Where instead of being seen as an object.

They would be seen as beings of greater value.
Though, It came with a price of my sanity being drained.

Stealing the title from the other religious beings pissed them off quite a bit.
To which I had to swiftly apologized when they came knocking on my door.
Which even led to some of them sending their own people to kill me.

But it had a reason.
It was in order to avoid the disaster that led to their extinction.
When those who protected them vanished and simply saw them as objects to be sacrificed.

Their numbers dwindled until I was left.
Alone born from my father's blood who was merely a son of the last light dragon.
While my mother was a human which he took a fancy in.

Though, I was fortunate enough that I didn't perish and was able to breathe life to them once again. By waking their eggs which cannot be hatched without any contact with their own.

I never expected that the only way for them to restore their scales.
Is by turning into an egg and being reborn like a Pheonixes.

However...
Half-humans are different, they cannot do that.

While human skin...
Can at least absorb enough to prolong our life...
Our scales can only cover what we are born with.
A single scale can shield another or its owner from harm.

Magic runs in this world.
It flows relentlessly and with ruthless cruelty.
Those who carry the power to stop this madness which turns the fabric of nature into their power.

Are only the scales of the race known to carry the light.

Though, I'm no longer one of them.
My soul still feels the need to watch over them.

Milim said that my race still lives.
But what exactly is happening back home?

I made contact with them before I received their injuries.
However, making contact again would be difficult with my injuries being too severe that I can barely even move...

"The scales of the light dragons are too attractive.
Shining like the silver coins they put in their pockets.
Greed and selfish desires takes over when they discover its true power and value.

Which is why knowledge of its effect was kept in the dark.
Where only their most trusted people would understand."

...

...

...

Milim's Pov:

"Still...
I would have stopped Baster from pulling your scales.
After all, when it gets removed it is gone forever."

Talie said those words but still, I then asked the two.

"Does Baster even know that my scales don't recover after it gets removed?"

The two shrug and shook their heads.

"He probably doesn't.
But it's good to know, he isn't reckless enough to take one out of selfish gains.
After all, your race's most attractive features are those scales after all." were Tori's words.

But while also warning me.

"Take care to not accidentally scratch them off."

Milim then sighed.

"I already know...

Truthfully, I accidentally scratch one off when I was a child.
It lasted at least 2 months as it continually bled...
My parents severely scolded me, after that."

Tori then asked.
"I know that pain.
But you haven't experienced having them crack, tear and bleed like a river for a whole month.

Which is why, I don't advise you to break our curses. "

I took a small step away from them as she said those words.
But Talie soon asked.

"Speaking of your parents.
You said you were sent in Lotte's care.
Where exactly are they now?"

Milim had a bitter expression on her face.

"The demi-human kingdom...
They had business to do there.

So I was left in Lotte's care.
However..."

A short pause made the two unease.

"They never came back.
My brother Fenris took care of me.
While he isn't my blood brother.

He is in the same boat as even his parents left with them."

Milim scratches her head.

"I'm worried something happened to them in that kingdom.
Which is why they still haven't returned yet."

Tori nodded to me, as she gazed turned to Talie while she showed a rejecting gesture.
She then pointed and said.

"Don't worry, I have a bit of connection with them.
I'll send a letter."

Talie then hanged her head and smacked her face.
Giving me a sense of unease.

But I felt a bit of hope inside my chest when she said those words.
As I swiftly asked her.

"Really!? can you really do that!"

To which she retorted.
"But... we need to wait until I can properly move my hands and limbs first.
I can't write! if I can't move!"

I gazed at her injuries, it looks pretty bad for them to tie her down like this.
Lotte explained to me.

That Tori fell on some burning wood of the ship they were on.

However...
I felt like there was something more...
When Baster said something about them being reckless.

Not to mention, how did Tori's limbs get cursed?
Talie's right arm was also releasing the repulsive presence.

I can sense a very eerie unpleasant presence from their limbs.
That my body seems to shudder, that I can't get too close to them.
Like it was saying.

[It is dangerous to get too close.]

The two of them said to stay away from their injuries.
Warning me that it would cause most of my scales to break.
What exactly did they meddle in to be in such a state?

But... I'll take their warning to heart because I can feel it myself.

As our conversation ends.
Fenris probably carried my things back to my room by now.

Still...
What's with the ridiculous conversation about how they want me to date their brother?
He probably doesn't even know, what taking a piece of our scales does to us.

Milim sighed feeling exhausted from their conversation as she left their room.

But the real question here is...
Does she really have a connection to my parent's homeland?
If so, then the rumor's about them mingling with the demi-human country is pretty accurate then!?

As Milim walks back to her room, she tried to piece a puzzle but it had one flaw.

"If that was the case...
Then how come there was no news of them making contact with them?

How odd... "

New's spreads fast in a kingdom when the a demi-human appears directly from their own country.
They are popular amongst traders are they usually sell rare goods.

Such as Ark-seals never seen before or materials that are too difficult to obtain.
They are often fought over by merchants and kingdoms in hopes of obtaining more power.
...

...

...

Meanwhile...

Baster rushed to Nelly's workshop.

"Nelly are those inventions done yet!" Were his first words after entering.
But the sight he saw was a huge mess of mechanical parts, junks and other materials scattered all over the place.

It was also eerily silent.

"Nelly?"

...

...

No response.
As Baster walked around the junk filled workshop,
he soon heard beeping sounds coming from her private room.

It was the place where she usually writes her designs.

(This room was supposed to be available for the protagonist to enter once you raised her trust enough. A private room where she kicks even her mother out.

But...
This silence is making me feel uncomfortable that I can't just wait!)

He walked to the corridor and opened the door as he felt heavyweights as he noticed some junk blocked the door from below it.

He soon slid throught its gap of the door and entered the room and from there...

Nelly was currently, asleep with writings and designs around the room.
She was right in the middle of the room all alone with junks surrounding her.

As for the drawing and writings, they were all her inventions plans with photos and pictures of pipes/mails of objects that seem to have been pieced together.

"Wow... she works quite fast.
As expected of the inventive genius of the tale."

(But there's another problem here...
She's half-naked wearing only her underwear!

I shook my head, unable to wake her as she peacefully slept.

However...
HOW THE HECK DO I WAKE HER UP! Now That I've Seen Her Like This!

Atleast wear your workshop clothes!?)

I scanned the area and soon saw that what she was resting on was her cannon that had turned into a table as her large bosoms comfortably lay on it.

Seriously? why the heck can that thing do everything, the only thing missing is if it had a mind of its own and evolve as long as its user used it.

(Speaking of that weapon for what I recall, its firepower automatically grows when the story continued to progress as types of equipment get unlocked more.

It also cannot be removed from her hand.
But I wonder how does that work in this world?

Hey, wait that's not the question here!
I still need to wake her up!)

Baster circled around her until he stepped on a piece of junk which made him nearly scream in pain but leaving him in agony.

(Shit, let's clean this stupid junks off her workshop first!)
And so, I sorted out the junks around the room including inside her workshop.

Still, I never imagined giving her advanced invention ideas based on the game would turn her into a complete slob like this...

All I did was borrow her camera and took pictures of all kinds of things based on the game's invetion system and gave it to her to create a few things that were supposed to be given to her in the storyline.

But i couldn't remember them all.
As not everything in this place had all the parts and pieces I needed.

I sorted them out, back in my room.

*Oh right it blew up.
Guess I need to start from scratch again.*

I hanged my head and cleaned up the place.

...

...

...

"And that's the last one."

Everything was sorted into boxes.

As for the junk inside her room, I left it alone because I don't want to be seen as a pervert who entered her room without her consent and saw how defenseless she was...

I left it alone, I sat in the center of her workshop with a satisfied expression on my face.
Till I heard a groaning sound from her room.

While resting on the floor, the door opened.

5 seconds has passed, she was half-naked and her glasses were not properly worn.
Her blue hair shined like the deep blue sky but her face had dark holes in them showing she wasn't taking her well-deserved sleep.

She walked like a zombie towards the fridge inside the room and pulled out a drink and a riceball snack.

The sound of her glugging was soothing to hear as she ate the riceball with one hand as it filled her stomach

(But are you seriously, doing this in your workshop!)

20 seconds have passed, she finished drinking.

"Ah, that feels better..." she said.

She turns to the washbin in the corner of the room and washed her hands and her face.
She then wore her glasses back on properly then she looks around and saw me in the middle with everything all neatly tidied up.

"Huh?..." was her first reaction.

40seconds has passed a long silence between us.
As my eyes froze gazing at her hot figure that was like looking at a model.
There was a good reason why such characters become a candidate as waifu's because I will admit.
Their ingame appearance is good.

But now that my eyes see it first hand.
I can't help but shed a tear of joy as I never expected such a scene would occur.

45s has passed the silence breaks, as she looks downward at her clothes then looks at me again.
Then looks at her clothes, her cheeks went red as her reaction was simply divine like watching a child about to burst in embarrassment.

But amongst the characters, she isn't the type to burst into violence.
The reason she was favored is because she was the most reasonable of them all.

"Hyaaaah!?" She covered herself with a small cloth nearby and curled herself while covering herself in it while shaking.

I burned the image into my mind like a true gentleman.

She then retorted with a fierce glare that pierced my soul.

"How long are you going to stare!
Turn around!" she cried out to me.

I obediently did so...

After a short while, she was back in her usual clothing.
Her cheeks remained red with embarrassment written on her face.

(There was no such thing as an event like this in the story.
But that was a good meal none the less.
Were what I whole heartedly thought of this scenario.)

"Si-since when were you here?" she asked me with an exhausted expression.

I answered in a gentlemanly manner.

"I only just arrived.
I couldn't help but see all the junks littered around the place.
So I ended up tidying up." I happily said.

But Nelly was groaning in frustration as she rolled her head on the table we sat on.
"I can't believe you saw me like that..."

"Let me guess...
You overworked yourself from the notes I gave you.
Leading to this..."

She groaned then admitted it.

"Yes... That's right....
But still, Baster.

All the things you have given me are way too innovative.
Are you really sure you want me to have all those?"

But Baster shook his head.

"Even if I knew, how to turn them into neat innovative tools.
I wouldn't have the ability to do so...

Only you.
Nelly can do such a thing.
Which is why, I'm entrusting these to you.

Think of it as my thanks for the things your mother had done so far."

Nelly gave a tired expression as she replies.

"I don't feel comfortable with that.
You can make alot of money with these kind of idea's.

How about making a share, when this invention actually starts being sold."

But Baster shook his head and rejected it.

"It's fine, you can keep it."
Then Nelly pouted as she then said.

"How do you expect to pay off your debt to my mother like this!?
Do you intend to be a slave to her whims forever!

I refuse to let your generousity make you sink like some kind of idiot!
Now, accept these papers!"

She pulled out papers that depicts shares of the designs she had made from the photo's I took.
As she then said.

"I'm much more concerned of your future.
If you continue to act like this.
You will turn into an old man who got himself killed while working hard.
Because he can't pay off his debt and unable to collect enough for his retirement!"

Baster swiftly retorts.
"Oi! I'm still 15 years old!
Why are you already talking like I'm going to turn into an old man already!"

Nelly retorts.
"Because your debt is insanely big!
I don't even know how your family can pay something like that!?"

(She does have a point.) Baster thought.

After a long talk regarding that issue.
He soon resigned and accepted it.
Later on Baster gave Nelly the letter from her mother.

"I see.
I'll go prepare then..." she said as she checked the letter.

Baster exhausted from his conversation left to meet the other candidates.
Next one was Blink Mane.
