“Yukito!”

“Yukito!”

“What could she want this early?” I thought.

“Yukito!”

I opened my eyes and confronted the loud voice.

“Yukito, it’s about time you woke up. Can you go over to Haruka’s place and give her this set of blankets?” My mother asked as she pulled my blanket off me.

“Mom, it’s snowing like crazy outside.” I yawned as I spoke.

“Well, then you better hurry!” My mom replied in an aggravated tone.

Even though my name would suggest otherwise, I’m not someone who likes snow or the cold. My name is Yukito Setsuko, a male 16-year-old first-year high school student. My hobbies include reading manga, watching anime, and playing games.

I am now on my way to my childhood friend Haruka’s house.

“The snow seems to have picked up, I guess. “ I said as my voice raised above a whisper.

After walking across a footbridge, I stood there and waited for Haruka to show up. Since I already asked her to meet me halfway by text, all I could do was stand there and wait for her to show up. It’s always been odd how much my mother dotes on her, and while I understand she is living on her own, I don’t exactly know why.

As I stood there and waited for Haruka at the bridge, after about two minutes, I leaned up against the railing and pulled out my phone. Looking at the clock that had now ticked to 11:07 am, I looked past the fast-falling snow and laughed.

“Of course, she would be late in this situation. How cliché.”

After minutes of waiting, I noticed a group of men chasing a red-haired girl and they caught up to her.

“You talked a good game, but how about you pay up the money your father owes us?” The leader announced.

“This money is mine! I worked hard for it, and I need it to survive!” She shouted in a defiant voice that I recognized.

“Your father shouldn’t have gambled himself into debt then! It’s fine though, you’re a good-looking woman. I will let you pay it back with your body if you wish.” The supposed leader of the trio laughed.

“Exactly. “The man standing to the left of him echoed his ridiculous statement.

“That’s right!”

After I had heard more than enough, I stepped in and confronted the trio.

“The three of you better get away from her,” I said, scoffing.

“Yukito!” the red-haired girl exclaimed.

“Yo Haruka,” I waved while walking up to her and she ran towards my side.

“Hey, kid, you’d best clear out before things get messy,” the leader warned.

“I already called the cops, so that gives me about a 3–5-minute window for me to beat your ass.” I smirked.

All three of them seethed and charged headfirst at me. I stood there and dodged the first man’s punch. Not only was it blistering cold, but he lunged headfirst for me on this icy road, so I didn’t even need to hit him as he slid headfirst, crashing into the railing. His next buddy came at me from the right side, but I was prepared so I preemptively shoved my palm into the center of his chest, winding him, and then delivered an axe kick to his back cracking it as he fell over screaming in pain.

“You shouldn’t have messed with Yukito. He’s leagues ahead of you losers,” Haruka taunted, as she stuck out her tongue.

“Haruka stand back. I don’t want you to get hit,” I said while laughing.

AHHHHHHH!” He screamed, withering on the ground in pain.

The last one backed up slowly, clearly afraid of me.

“Go get the last one Yukito!” Haruka cheered.

“Who the Hell are you?” he questioned.

“I don’t know. I would suggest your typical high school boy who got so interested in martial arts that he studied all of them at a young age,” I laughed as I slowly walked toward him.

Out of nowhere, he quickly drew a gun and tried to fire it at me, but I quickly flung a knife at his wrist and jumped to the left, hoping to make him miss. The knife hit his wrist as the gun fired and the bullet grazed my face. I threw another knife at his arm, pinning it down and he dropped the gun, and I secured it.

Until I turned around and saw a sight I never wanted to remember. Haruka was drenched in a pool of blood flowing from her body. At the same moment, police showed up and surrounded all the men and the first responders put Haruka on a stretcher.

“Haruka...” I croaked out.

I was approached by one of the officers, who tapped me on the shoulder.

“The doctors will do what they can, but I’m sorry we didn’t get here in time.” He said as he grabbed the gun out of my hands.

After they had finished handcuffing the man who had fired the shot. He turned around and mocked me. “I told you, kid, you should’ve woken up and stopped trying to play hero! If that girl croaks, it’s on you!” He yelled.

Looking towards the ground, I couldn’t say anything to refute it. He was right.

I followed the ambulance to the hospital and waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes and by then my mom showed up.

“This is all my fault,” I thought.

“Yukito! What happened to Haruka?” she shouted.

“She got shot,” I mumbled the words out.

“Where is she?!” she shouted, holding onto her tears.

I pointed at the room down the hall, and she ran toward it.

Two weeks have passed since that day. Haruka died on that night, the same night I never went in to see her.

I never entered her emergency room since I didn’t believe that I deserved to. At her funeral, I couldn’t bring myself to show up, which enraged my mom. From my perspective, I couldn’t protect her that day as I always do. During those weeks, the rage coursing through my veins was uncontrollable. I took her phone and searched through it for her father’s contact.

I texted his number, telling him that we needed to talk about something. He met up with me at the bridge where it all happened. I dressed in a black hoodie, black pants, and white sneakers.

Snow was picking up quickly as he showed up. He was dressed like wealthy folk, even though his daughter hardly ever had enough money to make ends meet.

“Ahhhh it’s just you, Yukito. I was careful to be a bit on my toes because I thought you may be an assassin, but I’m glad that it’s just you.” He said as he drank a bottle of whiskey.

“You realize this is all your fault right” I grinned as sanity started to leave my face.

“Eh,” He deadpanned.

“Those men were after money that you owed them! While you sat around on your ass, your daughter was threatened to be raped because you won’t pay your debt!”

“I never cared if the runt croaked. I was only with her mother for the money so I could keep up with my gambling and now that you mention it, I’m doing pretty well right now since I’ve been on a winning streak for the past couple of weeks.” He laughed hysterically.

I grabbed a knife and stabbed him right in the throat. His body spasmed a few times, then it fell over right next to the same railing that the incident happened on.

As I stared at the blood on the knife, I felt a voice calling to me. It was over the bridge in the Icy Lake.

“Child, you have fulfilled your revenge, but at what cost?”

I looked down and spotted a glistering figure in a snow and ice-covered lake.

“Would you like to try again in another world as my reincarnation?” she asked.

“Please Clarify?”

“I’ll take that as a yes,” and as she snapped her fingers, the lake seemed to pull me into it. I tried to grab onto the bridge railing, but it did nothing, so I felt myself slip away and drown in the ice-cold lake.

She’s beautiful,” a voice said.

“What will we name her?” another voice asked.

Opening both of my eyes, I saw two figures hovering over me. A beautiful silver-haired woman with crimson red eyes and a Middle-aged man with blonde hair and another pair of dark red eyes.

Didn’t I just die?” I thought.

“Or maybe I was saved, but how and why am I within this woman’s arms...” I thought.

Looking outside the window, I could see a snow-covered medieval-looking city.

Is this, Reincarnation?!” I thought.

“How does the name Eira sound?” The man asked.

“I love that name, Einar,” The Woman responded.

“Eira is a weird-sounding name for a boy, right?” I thought.

“Our girl will be the pride of the Demon Empire once we’ve passed on, Erika. I can already feel immense magical power radiating off her,” Einar said.

Looking around the room at all the faces, I analyzed my mother’s face.

‘Don’t tell me I ended up being reincarnated into another world as a girl!’

“Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,” I cried.

“Oh, Dear she started crying,” Erika said, smiling.

Einar had already started panicking. “Erika?! What do we do?!” He yelled.

“Relax... Einar, it is perfectly normal for a baby to cry,” Erika responded.

“There, There Eira, it’s going to be ok. Your mother is the strongest.” Erika said as she rocked the young child to sleep.

3 Years Later

Since I’ve been in this world for about 3 years, I now have learned a ton about it. Firstly, I can tell that I’ve been brought into another world... nothing here resembles Japan or anywhere on Earth. This also seems to be a medieval era of this world because it is nowhere near as technologically advanced as the world I used to call home. The name of this continent is called Vertus, a name originating from the Humans who first lived on it.

Lastly, in this world, I am a vampire. Being the heiress of the great Vampire Clan, which is not great at all. In this world, just as in my old world, humans are the most dominant species. Over the past 300 years, humans began to hunt all species other than their own. This led to the Demons, Elves, Beastmen, Dragonoids, and Vampires forming the Demon empire to repel them. Eventually, the war became a stalemate, and a mutual treaty came from both sides to end it, but humans still occupy 60% of the land on this continent because of it.

To move towards the road of peace, the Humans created the Grand Vertus Academy and invited royals from all races to enter at age 14. I plan to make sure I am ready for that. Knowing Human history, I cannot trust them, so I will have to become powerful enough to rely on nobody but myself.

Since I reached the age of 6 months, I’ve been able to sense spirits which are the base of magic. The main compound spirits for magic are fire, water, earth, and wind, each of which harbors multiple spirits. There exist a few more spirits, namely the Ice, storm, and thunder spirits. There exist the spirits of Light and darkness, the last two others. Since my birth, I have sensed every one of them, but the main one is different. I am beloved by the spirits of darkness and Ice. Being beloved by the spirits of darkness rarely happens for vampires, from what I’ve been told. My mother, Erika, can only use wind and water magic.

Dark magic is mainly only used by demons, but most vampires can only wind magic. Since I am a vampire, I would have the option to drink blood, but it’s not as scary as the movies suggest. Most vampires get their nutrients from regular food. Only the rich vampires, which mainly consist of royalty, can afford to have blood every day. It is supplied to us by human slaves. I have one because I am a princess, obviously, but I make sure that they eat well and have their quarters. I’m not like those other rotten nobles who treat them like animals. Humans don’t mind it since they want us to see it as reparations, but all the demon empire is on alert for the humans’ next move.

I have been practicing my magic like crazy and getting physically stronger, so I’ll be able to protect myself. Currently, my dark magic already rivals most in the lower academy. The lower academy is where all Inhumans go before they reach age 14. My Ice magic has already reached the level of those in the Grand Vertus Academy.

5 Years Later

Finally, I have reached the age to enter the lower academy. At age 8, I probably will be the youngest to enter. Most Inhumans entered the Lower Academy at age 10, but since I am ahead in both education and magic and swordsmanship progression, the grandmaster allowed me to enter 2 years early. At least I won’t be alone though, because I have to be watched by the first princess of the Demon Clan. I have no idea why she wants to watch me since she is a noble. You would think they would just send some random teacher to do it.

“Eira! Make sure you make good friends with the princess!” My mom shouted towards me as I finished getting ready for school and my maid, Freya, combed my hair. Since I had to become a girl, I am not very interested in doing all the work a maiden has to do to prepare to go out, so I’m happy that people do it for me.

“Lady Eira, how would you like us to do your hair?” Freya asked me.

“Long twin tails please,” I replied.

“As you wish.”

Once they were finished looking in the mirror, I saw a beautiful silver-haired girl with crimson red eyes wearing twin tails. I touched my chest area and flushed, looking embarrassed.

“I still haven’t grown any...” I muttered out loud.

‘I’m still in my growing phase though, right?’

“It’s ok lady Eira! You’re still plenty young, you will grow some soon,” Freya frantically tried to reassure me.

I let some bloodlust flow and glared at her.

“What do you mean by that Freya...” I said, letting a bit of frost twinkle in my palms.

“Lady Eira, I only meant that you have plenty of time to grow!” she frantically tried to apologize.

“Relax Freya, I’m just joking” I let my face return to its neutral, empty expression. I had no friends my age because I had been known as the Ice-Cold Vampire Princess. I have no idea what that means, but I guess it’s that I reject all inquiries from boys and girls from other head tribe members. All of them only want me for my looks, so why would I give them attention?

“Well, it’s time to go,” I said and got up and got ready to walk out the door.

The moment I opened the door standing by, there was a young girl around my age standing there. She had dark black hair with black-colored eyes and the academy uniform I was also wearing.

“What do you want, stalker?” Without any emotion, I plainly said.

I watched her expression slowly turn into anger and I swiftly avoided a smack from her by slipping into her shadow, popping out behind her. Running toward the Academy, I quickly noticed that she was also wearing the uniform, suggesting that she was likely a student.

‘Why is she waiting right outside my door, though?’

“Wait.” As I realized it, I knew it was too late.

The First Princess of the Demon Clan is supposed to be observing me.

“Get back here!” I heard a voice yell from behind me. As she gave chase, she started closing in very quickly.

“You’re pretty fast, but can you chase me in the air?” I mocked her as I started to use flight magic to soar through the air.

That should put her in the dust,” I thought, smirking. Suddenly, I felt a Mana signature go off right next to me and it was the princess. She had caught up to me quickly, as she now had demon wings sprouting from her back.

“Huh, I didn’t think about that,” I said out loud.

It’s my first day of school and I’ve already made some fatal errors.
