Volume 1, Chapter 3: A...?

*****

6 months had passed...or that's what I think how long it was since the first day I arrived to this world. I've pretty much gotten used to this daily life

The little creatures, or what I call them now are squirrels, became my very first partner in everyday life. Every day, their role was to patrol and guard the area and notify me if there are unusual events happening. I didn't told them to do that of course, but they looked like they insisted. As for me, I took care of our place, prepare our meals, and improve my skills further

I remember back the first few days when the squirrels left after they ate. I was wondering where they would go that night, when the next day, they came back with lots of ingredients that I don't even know if its edible or can be used as an ingredient! Not to mention, they also brought back more of their own kind in our place. Believing in the phrase "The more, the merrier", I was happy that they came back and brought their family together. Them helping me and me helping them back, was like the start of our friendship

Speaking of skills, the moment I've leveled up my cooking skill, an interface, something that you would see in lots of games, the menu or UI rather, showed up infront of me. Getting curious, I tried hard to know if I got some other skills...

...but I spent few hours, struggling to make the UI box appear with my skills written on it. After taking a break, I realized that maybe calling for it would work, to my surprise, it did!

"Can't believe that I just had to call it to make it appear *sigh*...does it also work if I call it in my mind?"

The UI closed the moment I called "Skill" on my mind. I did the exact same thing and the UI reappeared

"I'm glad, otherwise, other people will think I'm crazy!"

Assuming that they can't see this UI but only me can!

"Let's see...huh, an Integral skill and Gained skill...?"

Integral skill...are these the skills that are passively activated? I'll have to take a look inside to confirm...

Integral Skills:

Ruler

Eternal Essence

Eternal Vitality

Endless Regeneration

Reproductive Growth

Skill Copy

Limit Break

Conceal

Eh? "Enternal Essence", "Enternal Vitality", "Endless Regeneration" ???...Uhh...this is...what I don't think it is...right...?

How do I say this...am I basically cheating?!

"Did the goddess made a mistake?"

No...goddesses don't make mistakes...or that's what I would like to believe...still-

"I feel like I'm one of those overpowered main characters in isekai animes...too unrealistic...*sigh*"

The other integral skills that I had were also overpowered as I thought, but out of them all, there was once that piqued my interest...

"Ruler"...

Upon hearing my mind from saying "Ruler", the UI's content changed, showing the "Ruler" skill description

"Whoa! That's a lot of texts!"

...but to put it simply, the "Ruler" skill is an integral skill that's used to get in contract with the target. To successfully complete the contract, there are 7 conditions:

1. The target must agree to the rules that will set by the ruler

2. The target must accept the name the ruler has bestowed upon. If there are multiple targets, the ruler can simply name them as a group. If the name is rejected, the contract fails

3. The target, once contracted, cannot disobey or betray the ruler. Doing so will break the contract, and putting a curse on the target

4. The target, once contracted, will enter into an evolution stage, enhancing their stats and gaining new skills

5. The ruler has the right to limit the target's power at any time at his own will. The ruler also has the right to evolve the target unless there's no more room for evolution

6. The target, when the conditions are met, can enter the evolution stage without the ruler's influence. However, the ruler can bypass these conditions thrice a year

7. The target has the right to refuse or accept the evolution

...so basically...it's like a Tamer skill...

Out of all the integral skills I had, the Ruler skill piqued my interest the most...

Going back to the present, there are also these "Gained Skills" that I got from doing my daily routine

Gained Skills:

Cooking Skill

Craftsman Skill

Hawkeye Skill

Sword Skill: Wind Slash

Sword Skill: Cyclone Slash

The cooking skill and the craftsman skill was a no brainer, I got them from cooking everyday, and me practicing making even better utensils out of wood. Thanks to my cooking skill, I was able to make better foods and know more about the ingredients. As for the craftsman skill, I was able to renovate the hut and other stuffs, truly two useful everyday skills!

As for the Hawkeye skill, apparently the first time I've used it was the time I was fighting the big bear looking creature. Not only I can use the hawkeye to read the enemies movements, I can also use it to see places miles away from our place

Lastly, the two sword skills I got came from my daily training. Every afternoon, after eating, I would go to the south of the forest, away from our place to practice swinging and fixing my form. Although I can take down the big bear looking creature with my fists, you might never know when another one, bigger threat than the big creature will show up. Also, I've seen this many times in many animes now so I thought to myself that maybe that kind of training works.

And since I have the Eternal Vitality Integral Skill, I can easily swing my wooden sword from afternoon to before the sun sets nonstop. I also did other trainings aside from swinging my sword, learning Wind Slash and Cyclone Slash in the process...

...And it seems like the time had finally come for me to try out the skills that I've gained for the past months

*****

As I was preparing for our lunch, I heard a unified scream of the squirrels from the west, whenever they make that sound, I know for sure something unusual has happened or is happening at this moment

Without further ado, I quickly rushed to where the squirrel was and found them in no time thanks to my Hawkeye skill

The problem at hand was the one that I've mentioned earlier. Bigger threat than the big bear looking creature...

"Looks like this one will be tough..."

It was a big boar looking creature with a black aura surrounding it and has glowing red eyes. The squirrels circled themselves around the creature, intending to fight alongside with me. The problem is, this is an enemy we've never fought before, there could be risk of them getting hurt

"You guys go back for now, I'll handle this alone!"

The squirrels looked at me as if they're worried, but I showed a smiled as if to signal to them that I'll be fine. They then listened to me as they go back and gather up behind me

"That's right, sit back and enjoy the show!"

I said enthusiastically. After I said that, I looked back at the The big creature and then saw a little girl that was unconscious behind the creature

"Eh? Why's there a person here in the middle of the forest? And not to mention its a little girl..."

Getting slightly distracted, the big creature then charged towards me. But due to my Hawkeye skill, the creature was running slow, giving me time to prepare for what I'm about to do next

"I would love to play with you a little longer but who knows what'll happen to that girl if we keep it too long..."

Chanting in my mind, I said the following skill:

Sword Skill: Wind Slash!

The moment I put force to my wooden sword and immediately swinging it down created a powerful wind that slashed the creature in half in mere seconds

...

"...well that ended quickly"

Too quick for me to even call it a battle!

"I would've play with it if another person's life wasn't in danger..."

I then walked up to the little girl to see if she's injured

"Aside from her being beaten up, it looks like she's only unconscious, thank god..."

I looked back at the dead creature, examining if its meat is edible. The squirrels were shrugging their heads hard as I was trying to take the meat out

"Oh, so it's a no then?"

I stopped taking the meat, and instead, burned the whole creature using the materials I've gathered. I wasn't excluding the probability of it rotting, it could destroy the environment of the forest if I left it or bury it

Afterwards, I quickly lifted her up and immediately noticed something different

"Wait...humans don't have tails...right?"

Is she perhaps...a demi human? Like from what I've seen in those isekai animes?

Ragged clothes...broken shackles in her feet...she's also beaten up...could she be...?

...

"...Demi human or not, her life was in danger just now. I can just ask her when she wakes up..."

Getting her back to my place was my number one priority, because she's safe there as long as I, and the squirrels are around...

"It's also time for lunch, I should probably cook more since we have a guest..."

The squirrels were eager to go home after they heard the word "lunch", leading the way for me back to our place

I smiled as I've spent a lot of time with them that I know what they meant by that. I followed the path they created as they sang a bright, happy tune in unison...
