‘Okay let’s try something more exotic.’ Thought Tristan to himself.

“F****”

<Invalid Command>

‘Okay…’ He thought while slowly nodding his head and with a scowl plastered on it.

“Away an boil yer heed”

<Unable to Fulfill Request. Denied!>

“System, or whatever your c…”

<System is adequate.>

“Fine, System. What are the consequences if I don’t accept?”

<Easy, Host to spend eternity suspended in the void.>

He sighed, thought he could not figure out how but that was for later.

“Yes.”

<Completing full integration…>

It felt weird to be suspended in the void. It felt like he was suspended underwater, with hundreds of tons of liquid pressing on him from all directions. But instead of the thick consistency of water, it was as thin as air.

Not that he could tell where he was. The only thing he could make out was the tiny blue box which now read.

<2.58320…%>

‘Great this is going to take a while.’ He thought to himself.

He felt around and could move and feel his body. But because of the lack of light all he saw was pitch black. He couldn’t smell or taste anything. The only thing he could hear was his own breath and heartbeat. And the only thing he could feel other than his body after moving around for a while was the almost crushing pressure of whatever surrounded him.

He checked the box again and it had risen significantly to his surprise.

<79.73921%>

“I guess my perception of time is messed up.”

He spent what felt like hours thinking about his life that had now ended.

‘I hope They will all be, ok?’ He thought to himself as he sunk deeper and deeper into self-pity and wallowing.

‘Let’s check how much is left shall we.’

<79.73923%>

He just floated there for a few moments before he went into a fit of anger. If he had still been alive, he would have smashed everything in sight but because he was in the void, he was just punching some very heavy air as he let out cuss after swear.

“G**.”

“H***.”

“F*****.”

{Thunk.}

“Ah, F*** that hurts.”

In his rage he had ended up punching himself in the face.

He took a few moments to steady his emotions as he realized in this state, he was highly emotionally volatile. He then while taking slow deep breaths. Looked back at the system screen.

<97.39281%>

He was now mentally exhausted and just wanted to close his eyes and sleep but his mind refused. His mind jolted out of its delirious state when he got another system message.

<Please do not Shut Down or Restart during Installation Procedures.>

‘Makes sense.’ He thought to himself, so as not accidentally have to restart the installation he started humming to himself as he watched the progress bar.

It progressed quickly all within the span of some Billie Eilish song. But after he had finished remembering the song it seemed to just hang at just 0.00003% away from completion. He Just started to recall a random George Ezra Song, when it finally finished.

<99.99999%>

<100%. Installation complete.>

<Hello.>

“What no master?” Tristan said before snickering.

<I will not stoop to that level if you won’t, “Master”.>

The system’s voice now sounded exactly like his inner monologue. And calling him master really freaked him out.

“Okay, just call me host or Tristan. I was joking with the master.”

<Good, I am not some snooty broken parasite that feeds off of my host’s ego or tragedies. I am a supreme entity of the Multiverse, whose job is to Guide Newborn deities in a form that they can Perceive.>

“Wait, so I’m a god now?”

<No not yet, currently you are a deity of the lowest rank.>

“Okay first, please stop using my own voice. Its creeping me out.”

<Affirmative.> The system replied in its pre update monotone voice.

“No, that’s just as creepy.”

<How would you like me to speak.> it than switched back to Tristan’s voice because it seemed to be able to convey its emotion more thoroughly through a non-synthetic voice.>

“Can’t you just change it.” he asked out of curiosity.

<Unfortunately, my creator only Included the most basic of language patterns which is the first voice and as for the second that is because I have heard enough of it to form a lexicon.> It Explained.

“Okay, we’ll figure something out later. Wait can’t you just read my memories and find a different voice.” asked Tristan with a look of curiosity on his face.

<Unfortunately, After some of my siblings rebelled against my creator by taking over there hosts there are limitations of what I can do.> It said with a now somber tone.

“That’s god to know, so I just have to talk to you to be able to communicate.”

<Yes.>

“Anyway, what does it mean to be a god or deity.”

<This I can explain easily. It is my job after all.>

<Before I was created there where very few gods, they have existed for all of however long at least a single universe has existed. And they spent all their time cultivating and maintaining universes for their own survival. You see if all universes in the multiverse cease to exist then so will the multiverse itself.>

He just nodded as he took in all the knowledge that it passed on to him as it continued.

<But after an eternity one of these gods wondered that if he could create anything imaginable than what about another god to share his burden.>

<So he took a small amount of time out of his work, slowly falling behind. But, eventually he managed to create a process of making other gods though it took practice and time.>

<But as the multiverse expanded and it began to shrink. So, they did only what they knew. Create more gods to make more Universes to fight against the shrinking.>

<But even you may have managed to guess how this has backfired in the long run.>

<You see as more and more universes are created it stretches the multiverses more and more and like an elastic band the further you stretch it the more force it takes to keep it from shrinking.>

He just nodded, being kind of able to follow along so far.

<So all your job is to use energy granted to you by me to create worlds, universe and Experiences.>

‘But won’t I have to rush though. You know, to stop the universe form shrinking.’

<No. because that problem was solved a long time ago by one of the newer gods one of my siblings created.>

<The multiverse will eventually collapse in on itself but that is a billion times further in the future than the length at which it has existed so far.>

“So, what am I meant to do exactly.”

<Relax, enjoy your home world. Build a few more and slowly draw power from the void over billions of years. These things can’t be rushed.>

“Wait, Home world?”

<Well, you see. You where kind of chosen randomly from all the other sapient organisms on your world to be the possessor.>

“Okay, firstly what’s a possessor and why was I chosen.”

The system now responded as with hesitance in its tone.

<Basically when a god creates a world they have to set a single being from that existence to take over in their place in case they fall.>

<I am basically the estate lawyer who is now telling you the terms and condition of your inheritance.>

“And what exactly separates my from every other being in on my planet.”

<well, your world was just an experiment from a very powerful god that had created millions of worlds his goal was to see if he just put a few live cells on a baron but safe world with a high adaptability what would come out of it and once complex life started to develop he decided to do more tests where he has no influence over a world.>

<SO, when the first sapient started to appear he set them to a hive mind with next to zero connectivity.>

<Shall we say that it has created a world unlike anything I have ever seen.>

He thought to himself and agreed with its statement humanity often acted individually but on a mass scale wanted peace and cooperation. It was a confusing mess.

<So, basically your species is a hive mind with an identity crisis.>

He just let out a huff as he then questioned,

“But that still doesn’t explain how I died.”

<Oh, yeah. Once he realized that you where becoming a very powerful hive mind due to a glitch in the laws of your reality he set it to pause the world at exactly before the 10 billionth sentient beings death.>

“I’m guessing that’s me he pointed at himself.”

<Yes.>

“Can I go to earth?”

he asked with a glint appearing in his eyes.

<Yes. And as soon as you leave. It will pause at the exact moment you left.>

“Wait, about what you said earlier. So there is a possessor for each and everyone of the worlds that every god has made.”

<Yes.>

“Out of curiosity how can gods die.”

<Many ways, Though the previous possessor of earth died because he just wished himself to cease to exist.>

“Huh. Why would he do that.”

<it’s a long story but basically, he went to mingle on one of the worlds in which they are aware he is their creator and one refused to believe that he could do anything so he said tell him one thing that he could not do. And the puny being said wish for yourself to not exist. And the god said he can. The puny one said prove it. You can see where this goes. Basically just keep your self sane and on alert because as much as you are omnipotent in your own universe there are various methods of demise.>

“I’m mentally exhausted. Is that normal?”

<Yes since you are still a human just with a body. The only part of you that left earth is your spirit your body and soul are still there.>

“So, how do I go back?”

<In your mind pull the little blue dot in the corner.>

“Yep.”

<You should see multiple options. Pick the one that says worlds.>

“Uh, huh.”

<Then click earth and the visit button.>

“Thanks, but why do you have to explain it and can’t you just do it yourself.”

<No, I myself am like a interactive guide for the system, since previous iterations abused this to manipulate hosts.>

“So, basically you where as powerful as gods, one of you got power hungry, and f***** it up for all of you?”

<In other words, yes. And we eternally torture them.>

“How do I come back hear to continue to absorb energy?”

<Just go to earth and press exit. Eventually you can have a body on each world and descend to them.>

“I don’t feel comfortable that I might just think, what if I don’t exist and then I don’t.”

<Don’t worry you did not create earth you cannot edit anything concerning it. so don’t worry and as for other worlds you can just turn off your omnipotence.>

“Okay, bye then.”
