I have the meat, I have to pots and I'm done with watering the field. I should start building the earth wall. I don't have enough mana to finish it all today though so I have to condense and do it layer by layer. I have to make it as sturdy as possible.

It's too bad about my mana capacity but I don't have the means to increase my mana anymore. To increase it I need a mana expanding tool that looks like an accordion. You hold the handle and pour all your mana into the tool making it expand then let it flow back into you. As it expands the tool would also absorb the surrounding mana which means after you pour all your mana inside the capacity would exceed your maximum. This would forcefully expand your capacity however it is recommended to only do it thrice a day or you will explode.

I can let it expand naturally by meditation but that takes too long. My one hour daily meditation for one whole year is equivalent to a days worth of using the expanding tool. The power of money but you can't buy it from merchants. It's exclusively the royal family's property and they only allow the academy to use it as a reward for excellent students.

How enviable, having extra mana would make anything I do very convenient. Why couldn't the heroes set-up electricity or something similar, I could live more comfortably with that. There are those mana generators that can power barriers and stuff but the most housework-like thing you could do with barriers is set up a cool zone for summer or refrigerators and heat zones for winter. It's a very high luxury too since mana stones mines are rare and only high magic type creatures carry mana stones. The weakest of those types of creatures are slime then golems but the best slimes could offer are a nuclei that would last a second in those generators. Golems could last a couple hours but most golems in the human continent spawn inside mountains and mines. All of those are controlled by the kingdom though.

Enough wishing I need to focus on what I could do now. For the shape of the earth wall, a gentle arc would be good, that way it would funnel the monsters in. I'm tempted to add spikes but it might be used as a way to climb up. Ah, I forgot I don't have space so the best I could do is a straight wall.

One day, one foot high layer. It would take me 36 days and a couple more days to add the stairs and some design? I don't have anything to design it with. Let's go with a simple wall, I won't even add a rail since it might get hoked on. Ok planning is done, now for action.

......

Finally done with today's layer, It looks like until the wall is done I won't have any mana left by the evening. I can't even fill up the water pot I bought. It can't be helped I will get water the old fashioned way, from the river. I hope there are no parasites or frog eggs mixed in, I can boil it on the metal pots I bought before and strain it with a cloth to be sure. It would take some time using that method though.

Its still early in the evening, My field hasn't even sprouted its first sapling, I don't have anything to do. Ah, I forgot to fix the fence, I should also start drying wood for firewood in winter and I also need it for cooking. The twigs I got from the woods I used yesterday to cook my meal produced too much smoke. I have to clean that too. My new house became dirty the moment I made a meal. I think that is forgivable since every house starts to get dirty when you first start cooking in it.

I still have some leftover wood from doing the spikes, I was going to use it as spares but I can always chop more trees at the side. It should also give me a clear view of incoming monsters from the forest.

For the fence, something four foot high is good, its high enough to block most creatures, even humans, but not high enough to block my view. Maybe I should plant some poisonous plants or spiky vines to cover the fence. I think there is that kind of poisonous vines. I doubt the farmers in this village has seeds for that so I have to visit the merchant house again tomorrow. To think I have to visit there three days in a row. I need to work on my planning.

With that in mind I should set-up my fence with enough space for the vines to crawl through.

*thwack* *thwack* *thwack*

I forgot I bought nails to make the fence when I asked the carpenters to make my house. It was left in my storage since last week, Good thing I remember or it might rust inside my storage.

*thwack* *thwack* *thwack*

This might take awhile. I was thinking something cool like surveying my land but if I let the carpenters do this I could comfortably walk around my property and I would still get to survey my land.

*thwack* *thwack* *thwack*

I acted tough but thwacking fence in the middle of the night doesn't look good or feel great at all.

*thwack* *thwack* *thwack*

Finally done, It feels good to own a huge piece of land but the work I need to put into it is a lot. I should dinner now, No before that I need to take a cold water bath.

The bathroom in my house is simple a large tub and a flush toilet at the side. There is no water system here so I have to refill the water at the tank every time I flush. The drainage is simple too there is basically a huge sealed hole underground where all the waste is collected.

The carpenters made sure to dig a small tunnel towards the forest up north. They apparently used earth magic to extract the soil. They made it quiet big so I don't have to worry about it in my lifetime. If for some reason it became a problem I have to call a specialist which would cost me hundreds of gold coins.

The specialists lives only at the capital since they are funded by the royal family, rather the job position itself is created by the hero. I do hope I won't have to deal with it. The specialist takes time to travel so if a problem does happen I have to do my business in the forest. I don't want to do that.

The water from the bath is drained into the forest but its above ground so if it clogs I can clear it easily. The hero created soap and shampoo but shampoo is a luxury, it cost a gold coin a litre. I have to make do with the soap since its only 10 silver coins. I wonder if I should shave my head so I don't have to worry about it.

...

It's as cold as I thought it would be, I felt my soul freeze for a moment there. It's fine, I should get warm soon from cooking. I properly prepared and stocked up flint, I don't want to ever eat raw meat again.

My kitchen is also pretty basic. They made me a clay oven with a cast iron stove next to it. There is a smoke catcher above the stove and the oven has a chimney. Is smoke catcher the real name? I don't know what its called and the name isn't needed for me to use it. I still don't have any prepared firewood so it would be smokey again so I have to open the windows, the doors too.

*cough* *cough* *cough*

Ah that was smokey. I need to prepare firewood tomorrow or I would die of starvation before my first harvest. Dinner would be bear meat steak with a serving of boiled but now cooled water. I hope my money last until my first harvest.
