This is a work of fiction, and though it takes inspiration from the Holy Bible as well as certain aspects of Judeo-Christian culture, it should be treated as such. I came up with the idea for this story after spending some time reading on Scribble Hub and realizing just how many stories there were that described the divine or divine entities in seemingly elementary terms. And, while I understand that they were written primarily for entertainment purposes, such descriptions tend to draw me out of a story as I think about the broader implications of the divine being as callous, ignorant, or just plain dumb as they are described in these other works of fiction. As such, I have decided to write a little on certain events found within the Bible. What I write here should not be absolutely taken as being an accurate understanding of the events detailed, nor should they be taken as perfectly aligning with my own views on the events detailed. I intend to write the stories in chronological order (or as close to chronological order as I reasonably can manage with the resources available to me).
If you see that I am approaching an area of scripture that you are familiar with, I encourage you to include details you would like to see included or expounded on. I hope you all enjoy my writing, but please be kind as it is my first time writing anything over five pages long that isn’t notes or a research paper.
This is ambitious and brave.
I will first say that I am not Christian, nor do I expect I will become such in the near future.
That said, the exploration of ones faith is a courageous endeavour. I can understand a bit where you're coming from, as I once kickstarted my own writing after being spurned by what I felt is an example of people Getting Something Wrong that was very important to me.
You will likely encounter opposition in some way shape or form; it comes with the territory. But that this is important enough to you that you seek out to write, on this platform of all spaces, I can respect that.
I have not heard of this kind of project being done, so I read on with a piqued curiosity. Normally Id feel trepidation at the thought, and admittedly I still do, but you seem earnest enough. I don't have any particular knowledge of Christianity so I will likely not be participating with suggestions.
On the topic of what drove you to write this: If you want a fantasy novel that I believe touches on angels and theological elements with a lot more respect, I recommend The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. The first book is called Storm Front, but Dead Beat (the seventh book) is an alternate starting point since the author managed to pick up his stride since then.
Thanks for your kind words, friend. The stuff by Jim Butcher also sounds pretty interesting. So, I'll be checking out his stuff when I get some time soon. I hope you enjoy this story, though it uses some very Biblical language and may not be for everyone. If you can somehow slog your way through it, maybe you'll find some value in it. Once again, thank you, and I hope you enjoy this story.
